“Heavy Sleepers Only!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2007

Yes, Beaver Creek/Vale is a very expensive area in which to find lodging, so it is understandable that this is a highly attractive place for college or teenaged kids to stay. At a little over $175.00 per night, this is a terrific value...if you don't value a good night's sleep. It is unfortunate because the location is so great...right across the bridge and you are in Beaver Creek Village, and on the slopes. It is just a really badly designed building with open hallways making for a 3 story atruim of echoing noise. In addition, although it is a long, large three story hotel, there are only 2 sets of elevators, located on either end of the long corridors, so luggage had to be hauled/rolled down the hallways just on the other side of the bedrooms headboard. Every word
spoken, music being played across the atruim, or even people talking in the hot tubs on the floor above can be heard through the thin walls. Too make matters worse, a series of 4 or 5 steps are built into the hallways about every 25 feet, so you get the thump, thump thump of heavy luggage going down or up the steps as folks check in at all hours. We would not go back.

We just came back from our stay March 3 - 10th 2007. We started with a 1bedroom unit for the 4 of us. By the end of the 1st night my wife and I had to book our own seperate unit for the week. The pull out bed is so thin!! It killed our backs. The floor in the room creeks & cracks when you walk on it. You can hear all the creek & cracks of the person above you walikng at night. The shower has no water pressure and you will wake up out of your sleep trying very hard to breath. This is because of how the unit is setup with no air flow. The bedroom is by the doorway entry to the unit - this is the master queen bed. You walk through the hallway to the living room. The unit is very, very small. It has no oven/stove. The only reason we booked a second unit at the same place was because our friends were already staying there and we had one car. For the remaining 6 nights we were charged $1,100.00. The place is only worth $300 - $400 for a weeks stay and thats pushing it! When your in the "Master bedroom by the door you not only hear the people above but people clunking down the hallway past your door at night. The place is huge and their are only two eleveators by the checkin. If you get put at the middle or end of the building like we did you will have to lug your luggage up more stairs AFTER you take the elevator to your floor. Terribly designed! Stairs on top of stairs at this place. Be prepared! Better yet... Stay AWAY from this place! TRUST ME!!!!

The "suites" at the Christie are absolutely TINY...they really would be appropriate only for two people who want some degree of privacy from each other. More than two people would be an absolute nightmare. The rooms are no larger than a standard hotel room--they are just divided into a "living" and "sleeping" room. The bathroom is additionally tiny. The hotel fronts the busiest street in Avon and the walls are very thin...the noise is constant.

Bottom line is you get what you pay for...the Christie is comparatively inexpensive, but don't expect too much quiet or space. This place is probably best for skiiers/hikers on a budget who are unlikely to spend any time at the hotel.

I realized I had not written a review of this hotel when we were there last summer and felt I owed it to those possibly interested in staying. I was warned by a resident in Denver not to stay there; however, after reading all the reviews I felt possibly they were wrong. Our experience was horrible. The rooms are extremely small - the double bed is smashed against a side wall and located right next to the entry door. Also, it is located right by the highway and there is absolutely no way to get away from the noise. Plus, we went to the swimming pool and there were a total of 8 chairs for everyone to share at this very large hotel. We chose this hotel because we are part of RCI and this was a time share exchange. We have had several exchanges in the past that were all positive so we were very disappointed and shocked with this one.
