Most people rent bikes in Vail Village or Lionshead Village. The prices are way more expensive if you rent in the village. However, the scenery is way nicer around Vail. We rented from Avon because we were a family of 6 and it only cost us 50 dollars to ride around Avon for 2 hours. We had 2 adult bikes, 2 kids bikes, a tagalong and a little trailer for our toddler. It would've cost way more in Vail.
As a family, we rented in Avon and took the bike path to Edwards. They say the path is fairly flat and you would probably agree but on the way back it was a strenuous ride. Probably more so because my wife and i were hauling kids on the back of our bikes. If it was just two adults riding from Avon to Edwards, it would have been a easy ride.
The people at Venture Sports had great customer service. answered all our questions and got us riding quickly.
After the family ride, i (dad) paid 40 dollars and they took me to the top of Vail Pass so that i could bike down. The ride down Vail pass is fantastic. it's a must do for anyone whol likes to rides bikes for pleasure and the scenery can't be beat.
