“Cool weather, warm personalities and smooth rides...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2010

There is no doubt about it...when its over 100 degrees in the shade here in Texas, the cool mountains of Colorado is the place to be. And if your headed to the Vail, CO area, why not get more for your money by staying at the Westin property in Avon, just seven miles away. The property is very nice and is divided by a common first floor shopping and restaurant area. On one side is the Westin hotel, the other side are the Westin Villas. Really, since it is all so closely situated, it looks like the same property. We stayed in a one bedroom suite. Quite nice! A large gondola is situated within steps from the common area that takes you up to the Beaver Creek ski park. Although the ride was closed for the summer season, its a sure thing we'll be back to see the snow. When you go, be sure to take your bikes, hiking shoes and a camera. The sites are wonderful and the views are second to none if you take a ride through one of the passes. The Westin has done a great job putting together a great pool area, spa, and fitness center. All are second to none.

The villas are a wonderful choice for families. They are connected to the spa and resort which sits on the Eagle River at the base of the Beaver Creek Resort complex. Guests are granted access to the hotel amenities, but the villas also have a kitchen (with dishwasher), small porch/patio, dining area, and clothes washer and dryer in the room. The villas also have access to a grilling area which (while we were there anyway) was kept immaculate by the staff.

Only a couple of downsides...a bizarre garage where you were never sure if you needed your room key to access any/all of the gates, and the pool which was a uniform depth of 4 feet. Fine for adults, not so great for children who aren't quite able to stand.

Went here after an invitation from Westin Vacation Club at a very low price arrived at my house. There were no strings attached and did NOT have to sit through a sales presentation. I had stayed at the hotel last year but the Villas are much nicer and roomier. We had a one bedroom unit overlooking the mountain. Gondola was outside our balcony but it does not run in the summer. I believe it could be quite noisy in the winter. The room had 2 flat screen TVs and the superb heavenly bed. Bathroom was very large. Occupancy in the Villas appeared low. Villas have access to the hotel pools and restaurant, and business center. The only drawback is you have to walk across the lobby in a bathrobe. Others were doing it so it was not a problem. Parking is by valet for the hotel but Villas can parking in the basement garage cheaper. I would recommend that option. The location is ideal and you can drive to Beaver Creek or Vail very quickly. Busses will do the driving in the winter. Overall, a wonderful place but I prefer to rent and have no desire to own a unit. The Villas also have a studio unit that is attached to each bedroom unit. The studio can be rented separately and looked comfortable and would be my preference to the hotel.
The dining at Avondale in the hotel was very good and reasonably priced. Try the double pork chop or the rainbow trout. Also, go to Beano's Cabin on the mountain if you get the chance.

Our trip to this hotel was very disappointing. While the hotel itself is very nice (we stayed in a 1BR villa) and had all the luxuries we were looking for, the customer service was terrible. For a couple hundred dollars per night you would expect more. This was a 40th birthday trip for my husband and our out of town guests from four states. They flew here to stay the weekend with us at this hotel and one of the couples had no AC all night despite 2 calls to the desk. The other villa for another set of guests in our group wasn't ready at chec k-in and we were told it would be 2 hours! The topper was that we booked Father's Day Brunch a their restaurant for 930am and we were told we couldn't check out any of our rooms after we ate. This made a rushed morning with nowhere to change into our hiking clothes after breakfast, despite the fact we were eating at their own restaurant!
will never stay here again or reccommend to a friend. There are places at the top of BC that are much much better.

This was my second stay at this Westin Villa facility. We had a two bed room lock-off with a living area and kitchen. Perfect for family travel. The decor is very nice, clean units, very safe and a true Westin Heavenly Experience. You'll know that the Villa service is more of a Self Serve style when compared to the Hotel next door, but you still have access to Service Express and they treated me with priority. Great location to Beaver Creek lodge, to shopping / restaurants / Liquor store / Starbucks / Grocery store, to the mountains and Eagle River. I highly recommend this facility.

We stayed here for 4 nights in a one-bedroom villa. It was our first ski trip as a family and everyone had a wonderful time. The villa was spacious and had a full size kitchen with everything you need: a refrigerator, microwave, traditional oven, coffee maker, dish washer and all the necessary china, cutlery, utensils, tableware and dinnerware. It had a dining area with a large dining table that can seat 8. The living area had a fireplace, an LCD TV, and a queen size sofa bed. The bedroom had a king size bed, very comfortable indeed. One thing we really liked was the ample closets throughout the room. In addition, wireless internet was complimentary but we didn't bring a laptop with us. The bathroom was spacious too, with a shower area, a whirlpool bathtub, double sinks, and a separate toilet space. Parking spaces were shared with the resort and spa adjacent to the villas. Parking was $7 per day which I thought was reasonable. The resort restaurant (Avondale, I think) was wonderful.

The only complaints I had (or areas for improvement) were (1) sofa bed and (2) showerhead. It wasn't comfortable sleeping on the sofa bed, at least I didn't like it. Fortunately my kids didn't complain. I would prefer a larger showerhead to enjoy my shower. But from water conservation standpoint, the showerhead was sufficient and got the job done. I agree with other reviewers on the great quality of the property. My family was very pleased with our stay and will definitely consider going back.
