“NOT FOR THE VAIL SKIER. 3 1/2 green circles. Why was the gondola closed? Beware of notorious fan noise!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 days ago NEW

CONS: 1) We got there on April 5th, and the gondola from the Westin to Beaver Creek chair lift closed the next day? Why? It was snowing, there was a bunch of snow still, and the resort didn't close until April 20th? 2) Saw some very negative reviews about fan noise under the gondola. Didn't hear it until the end of our trip, while we were walking along the river. It was extremely loud. Don't get a room near this fan! Somebody messed up with the fan noise. Don't know what it is, as the gondola was not running. 3) Beaver Creek Ski Resort is OK for beginner or intermediate skier. Extremely over-priced lift tickets at Beaver Creek (twice the cost of Mammoth Mt. in CA, which is like 4 times bigger and way better), so we went to Vail (8 miles away) for the rest of the trip. SHOCKED and DISGUSTED that Vail charges $25 per day for parking. I strongly suggest that the Westin have a free shuttle that maybe leaves at 9 a.m. to Vail, and returns at 3:30 or 4 p.m. back to the Westin. We won't stay at the Westin again because no free shuttle to Vail. Yes, there is a bus, that charges $4 each person, each way, but it was a hassle and $$$. 4) We got an email a few months prior, that the pool was closing. Don't know why the Westin didn't wait until Spring break (for a lot of schools still) was over, and start construction on April 21st. That was OK with us, as we went to the Avon Rec. Center nearby with water slide, lazy river, pools with tickets provided by Westin. Thank you. 5) Very boring hotel for young teens. They should have a game room with pool table, ping pong tables, video games, etc. Kids can't use gym until they are 16. NOTHING for parents to do with young teen at this hotel. PROS: 1) nice hotel, great view of the river and Beaver Creek. 2) We stayed in a Villa with kitchen, which was fantastic! Money saved on not eating out though went to Vail parking. 3) Convenient parking garage. Drove in, parked next to elevator, went right up to our villa. 4) Away from other hotels. It was sometimes quiet, but we heard a bunch of street traffic (cars/buses heading up to Beaver Creek).

Room Tip: Don't stay near the gondola! There is a fan or generator? that runs very loudly under the gondo...

It was an awesome experience staying at the Westin Riverfront @ Beaver Creek. Though it is not on the Village, transportation to town is very easy. The ski rental shop is very handy and the people working there were very helpful. The most important quality about this property is the people working there…, they really make your life easier, great attitude and detail oriented… Villa’s concierge, Meredith, had the great detail to leave a Champagne bottle for my wife’s birthday. Thanks a lot for make our vacations a great experience. Make no mistake, ALWAYS choose Starwood!

Not sure what the previous reviewer is on about. It is clear on the website that the pool and spa are being renovated, and therefore closed, also that the gondola closed on the 6th April because that part of the mountain is closed! This is reflected in the price of the rooms. We stayed for 3 nights in a King Suite at $113 a night for a room that is over $400 a night at peak times. Amazing value!

We are seasoned and critical travellers. We are Brits who have lived in Denver for 2 years. We have skied in many resorts in both Europe and US. This place is without doubt one of the best places we have stayed anywhere. The style is chic European rather than rustic and this may not be to everyone's taste. We thought it was lovely. The blend of stone, glass, wood and contemporary art and furnishings was very well done. It was also at the same time, cosy and warm with a great ambience.

The lobby bar was very welcoming and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Service throughout our stay was consistently excellent from the valet parking and ski/ boot service to the front desk and bars it was faultless. The Mayan restaurant was excellent.

Our suite was fantastic. Felt like we were the first people in it. It was immaculate. As for noise, we are the most critical people imaginable about noise and disturbance from other rooms. I can honestly say we never heard a peep throughout any of the nights we were there. The bed is super comfy. The heating/ AC is one the most efficient and quietest I have experienced.

Perhaps we were lucky but it is hard to see how this experience could have been better.
We shall be back, possibly even this weekend to enjoy the last day of the ski season!

Prior to booking, I called ahead to ensure the hot tub and pool were working. I was ensured they were working perfectly and we would be delighted. Upon checking in, however, we were informed the hotel is under renovation and that the hot tubs, pool and spa were closed. We got to our room and overlooked more construction. We switched rooms and were greeted with the loudest ice machine of all time just outside the room. We heard noises all day and all night; some of which sounded like someone coming in the room, tattered bedding, carpet ripping up with the tacks sticking out and a very dirty couch/fold out bed. We were told we were right on the Beaver Creek slopes and that the gondola right outside the hotel would take us directly to where we needed to be. Yeah, that was closed too. I probably slept an hour total the entire three days/two nights we were there.

We booked a one night stay to celebrate our anniversary, and brought our two dogs with us. Overall, we were pleased with the accommodations; our large room had an expansive view of the mountains, shared deck, kitchenette, sitting area, comfortable king bed, and huge modern bathroom. On the downside, the pool and hot tubs were closed for maintenance, and their pet policy was too restrictive. We were not allowed to leave the dogs unattended in the room, could not bring them through the lobby area between 2-10, nor could we leave them in our car in the hotel parking garage. This prevented us from participating in any activity in the hotel as a couple, including dining. The hotel required the use of valet service for parking, and the parking attendants told us they could not allow the dogs in our car for liability purposes. This policy forced us to spend all our time and money elsewhere (except to sleep). On the bright side, we enjoyed a delicious Italian dinner at Ticino's, which was walking distance away (although we had to drive there).

Stayed here for Spring Break to ski at Beaver Creek. Such a beautiful hotel! Every time we walked in the front door, the feeling was so warm & cozy! We were always greeted by the very friendly staff. Skiing was simple to get to. Ski valet kept skis, poles and boots (on driers) for us. Just put our boots on inside, grabbed our skis and hopped on the gondola just steps away. That's it!

Also, really enjoyed the salt water infinity hot tubs at the end of the day. Did not use spa/fitness facility, but it sure looked amazing!!

There is a free restaurant shuttle in front of the hotel that will take you to the Village at Beaver Creek if you so desire.

We had our dog traveling with us. Our room was equipped with a dog bed and food/water dish, all of which our dog loved!

Overall, we had an excellent stay at the Westin!!

Room Tip: There is a shopping center within walking distance (5 minutes), that has a handful of restaurants to...

Green Features: We opted out of housekeeping, and got a $10 food and beverage credit per day. Didn't miss housekeeping - we just hung up our towels and reused them, same with the towels we used at the hot tub.

Started off with a valet telling me there was no rooms. Thought it odd, then I realized the valet was upset because I had a trailer. Wife and I had been driving weather got bad and the I 70 closed. Thought we would have an adventure for the night at the Westin.

Turns out they had a room after I walked to the desk. Desk lady was very pleasant. A different valet came to tell me they could not park the trailer at the hotel. No area in the service area loading docks? None. Suggested I drive it to the Walmart. Dropped it came back valet parked the truck. Went up to room.

Rooms linens wore terribly. Media and paperwork about the hotel dog eared. Wife flipped through the hotel services book found a large image of male anatomy drawn in the dog eared copy left in our room.

Turned it into the front desk let them know. We are by no means prudes but I would have expected a manager to at least inquire with us on this event .... Nada...... I would expect a manager to ignore us Days Inn or Motel 6 but not a Westin property.

Bar was nice with a decent jazz band playing and the restaurant had our open table reservation ready on time.

I don't mind paying resort pricing for a resort experience which is why I picked a Westin Property instead of the comfort inn. Sorrily disappointed in this property and managements non response to the incident a guest experienced problem. Especially after hammering me $500 for a room that regularly sells for $364 with breakfast on the Westin Website.

I assume this is one of those properties that lives on location and not on how it is managed.

Green Features: It is a leeds silver property. I am fully Leeds certified with my engineering. Was good to see the commitment. Of course I would expect this from Westin, but the Westin here seems poorly managed so it was nice to see management had not lost the
