“Amazing!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013 via mobile

We spent this last weekend at the Westin. Our stay was fantastic. The room was very nice and the fireplace made it cozy. The hospitality by all employees was incredible. We had massages in the spa....one of the best massages we have ever had. Overall, you can't go wrong with a stay at the Westin.

This hotel was a bit out of character for us to stay at - big, spa, resort, etc. BUT we really enjoyed our stay and would come back as long as they stay on-track.

A few general insights:
-Sure you could stay closer to BC, but why - the views are spectacular here.
-If you are here to sight-see or ski all day, and are just going to come back to the room and eat and crash, then save yourself a few bucks and stay on the 'north' side of the building. The views are not good, but if it's dark and you won't see them, or don't care about views, this will work for you.
-We DID care about views and asked for a 'valley view S/W facing' room when we booked. We thought the 'standard view' would be the North (viewless) side. Apparently not - weird. The hotel essentially has three wings - the middle (you can face directly towards Beaver Creek - probably the most expensive rooms, or North (cheap rooms no view, see above), or East, or West. We asked for a view upgrade and were given a 'mountain view' room without a balcony (kind of a bummer, but not hugely) facing West with a view of the pool. Our 'mountain view' was achieved more by craning our necks and pulling a chair over to the window - and it wasn't a view of the 'ski mountain'. Beware. The room was great, but if I returned I'd probably want a higher up room in the East wing (facing East) or West wing (facing West with afternoon sun).
-We are NOT hot tub people, but we loved our hot tub time here. It was off-season, so we had the hot tub (there are three) mostly to ourselves both times. Amazing to sit under the stars at night, or in the bright sun during a lovely Autumn day.
-Pool is heated and well used by both guests and it seemed very fit locals. Great temp for laps on a cool day if that is your thing.
-Hotel in general is very clean and well kept up. Our room was very clean.
-Check in is at 4, and they mean it. This hotel is busy, so even on an off-peak visit you are likely going to wait for your room. Because we upgraded for a better view, we had to wait 2 additional hours, which was kind of annoying - better guest service at the front desk to move our room up in the queue would have been appreciated (we were told they had to clean 225 rooms that day, but couldn't they have cleaned ours earlier so we could get in??). That extra service would have been appreciated. ESPECIALLY because before we got into our first (icky view) room we were told we had a Mountain facing room with wrap around balcony (later we were told 'oops I had you mixed up with someone else'). Well, once the expectations were set, that North facing view was even more of a let-down, maybe go the extra mile when you realize your mistake and give us a bit of an upgrade. Going above and beyond REALLY sticks with people, trust us we are business travelers, we remember and we return when good things happen.
-Yes, you pay resort fees and valet parking, but look at what you get for it - an absolutely beautiful destination that is well-kept, in general ~ kind employees, and a place for your car (you likely won't find one without valet service). The valet guys (no gals) were all really well trained, very kind - they asked the right questions, made the right small talk, and were up-beat, they were our favorite hotel employees (better than the concierge's). :)
-Every time you ask the concierge a question - you are going to get a pitch about viewing a property. This was annoying and 'sales-y' - yuck.
-You can walk conveniently to places from here (Walgreens for some beverages, Coffee Shop in the morning, Bakery for breakfast and/or lunch), etc.
-Location along the creek is just lovely - we had breakfast and lunch on the rocks both days. SO beautiful.
-Business center is "free" (i.e. in your fees, but at least you don't have to swipe your credit card). This goes a long way with us. We could print our boarding passes, check up on the webcams of our dogs back home at the 'spa', and whatever else we might need to do.
-Maya is perfect for happy hour, catching its stride for dinner. With more experience here the restaurant will be pretty good! Our food at dinner was a bit cool, but the flavor combos were good.

The room:
-The bed was wonderfully comfortable.
-The windows open (SO love that when traveling!!! - especially with the fresh Rocky Mtn. air). One window issue - the big one in the center was dirty, so in full afternoon sun it was hard to see the view out we paid extra for :(.
-In-room safe is great when all you have on is your swimsuit and bathrobe and are headed down for a dip.
-Everyone wears the hotel bathrobes to the hot tub or pool - don't worry about it, but do bring some flip flops! (towels are available downstairs in the spa, no need to bring room towels down).
-Perfect kitchen for all your meals if you want to save some $$ or eat healthy. We didn't use it on this trip, but would totally use it for a longer trip or if we were here with our dogs.
-Quiet. We didn't hear doors shutting, people peeing, beds squeaking, etc. Big bonus in our book.
-Internet in room is good.

I think we really lucked out with both when we were here (Sunday-Tuesday), and no big groups (a bunch of soccer girls had just cleared out before our check-in, PHEW!) and weather (perfect Autumn weather). I think however this hotel likely gets very busy and could be a much different experience during high season. We are a 40 something childless couple and this is a bit more family friendly than we usually stay at. Just keep all that in mind and be honest with your expectations.

Would we come again? Absolutely. We paid a great rate, were able to absolutely relax, and our overall experience was wonderful and wonderfully done.

Room Tip: -If you are here to sight-see or ski all day, and are just going to come back to the room and eat an...

We arrived at the Westin this past weekend and was greeted by beautiful fall colors and snow in the mountains on the drive over. We arrived at the beautiful Westin and was greeted warmly. We booked through American Express Fine Hotels and Resort and received a room upgrade from a standard room, to a 1-bedroom suite, which is double the size! We were also treated to a $100 credit in the spa and free breakfast for two each morning. The rooms are beautiful, bed was comfortable and the service was excellent. The concierge was very helpful in suggesting a great hike close by that allowed us to fully experience the fall colors capped off by a great recommendation to a local Italian restaurant, Ticino.

For people driving in, beware that there is a mandatory $25 valet fee.

I agree with others who have stayed at this hotel. Be advised of their additional fees: Resort Fee: $20.00 per day, and Parking Valet at $25.00 per night. Their spa was not worth the steep fees. However, having said all of that, we knew in advance about the additional fees and budgeted for them. We stayed for one week and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The room was very nice (including the little kitchen with a dishwasher) and the staff was very attentive. The new Mexican restaurant, Maya, was very good. We ate there 3 times for dinner during our stay. The location is great for trips to Vail, Beaver Creek, and Aspen. Highly recommend and will come back in the future.

Green Features: you can get additional Starwood points or bonus money by not using the housekeeping service and taking care of it yourself. They give you enough towels for the week anyway. Their water conservation is appreciated and had no effect on the showers.

This was our first time staying at this property. We were amazed by the location and views. The property is very well maintained, and the staff is excellent. They catered to our every request. We brought our dog along with us, and he felt right at home! They supplied us with a Westin Heavenly Dog Bed and food/water bowls. Not every property that says they are pet-friendly really is, but they went above and beyond to make our dog feel welcome. We had a couples massage at the Spa, which was truly luxurious. The staff was professional and it was a great addition to our weekend trip. We would highly recommend this property to anyone at any time of year. You won't be disappointed by your stay!

Room Tip: Studio Suite has a perfect kitchenette, which is very well equipped for a hotel room kitchen.

I really love the spa/gym/pool/classes at this hotel except the women's changing room is notorious for having hair balls/clumps in the showers. It is pretty gross actually. I think the cleaning staff stock the towels and sometimes the water, but forget about the showers.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Westin Beaver Creek a few weeks ago. It was only a weekend, but we were impressed and hope to return sometime soon. I am a traveler that loves to stay where the staff is friendly, well prepared, well trained and loves their property and we were not disappointed. Most Westin properties have solid staff, but I was really pleased with how well the staff was prepared for the golf function we were attending. At so many hotels, the sales staff fails to brief the front line staff on who and what is happening at the hotel that week. That was not the case for this event; from Parking, bell stand to front desk, the staff all knew who we were, greeted us cheerfully and ask what more they could do to make us comfortable. All signs of a good management team.
The room was a studio and very well decorated. I wish we had the creek side view, but we had not asked for one but the valley view was fine and we loved the small balcony. Westin prides themselves on their beds and bedding and we were very pleased how comfortable it was. The bathroom was spotless, nicely decorated and had a great shower with multiple heads. It's nice to have a hot shower after golf or a long hike. They also had a separate soaking tub if you like.
My only negative is being forced to valet park. I know its becoming the trend in upscale hotels, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. I must say the valets were great, professional and quick which helps sooth the irritation. On site food service is very good but a tad pricey(it is a resort after all) We did like the complementary water and coffee bar in the room. A nice touch.

Room Tip: Creek side/mountain side is the side to be on. Studios are great if you want to eat in occasionally...

Green Features: I was pleased to be offer extra SPG points if I declined full maid service on our short stay.
