“Very nice hotel at the foot of Beaver Creek with great staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Westin Beaver Creek a few weeks ago. It was only a weekend, but we were impressed and hope to return sometime soon. I am a traveler that loves to stay where the staff is friendly, well prepared, well trained and loves their property and we were not disappointed. Most Westin properties have solid staff, but I was really pleased with how well the staff was prepared for the golf function we were attending. At so many hotels, the sales staff fails to brief the front line staff on who and what is happening at the hotel that week. That was not the case for this event; from Parking, bell stand to front desk, the staff all knew who we were, greeted us cheerfully and ask what more they could do to make us comfortable. All signs of a good management team.
The room was a studio and very well decorated. I wish we had the creek side view, but we had not asked for one but the valley view was fine and we loved the small balcony. Westin prides themselves on their beds and bedding and we were very pleased how comfortable it was. The bathroom was spotless, nicely decorated and had a great shower with multiple heads. It's nice to have a hot shower after golf or a long hike. They also had a separate soaking tub if you like.
My only negative is being forced to valet park. I know its becoming the trend in upscale hotels, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. I must say the valets were great, professional and quick which helps sooth the irritation. On site food service is very good but a tad pricey(it is a resort after all) We did like the complementary water and coffee bar in the room. A nice touch.

Room Tip: Creek side/mountain side is the side to be on. Studios are great if you want to eat in occasionally...

Green Features: I was pleased to be offer extra SPG points if I declined full maid service on our short stay.

Our second time at this resort/spa & we have nothing but good things to say about the resort & staff! Tried the spa this time and it was fantastic! Located in a great location at Beaver Creek area, with a river walk that is very nice & beautiful.
The hotel's Mexican restaurant is very good/fun place with a great deck area with fire pits for those cool evenings.
A perfect year round get away resort while you are visiting Colorado.

Room Tip: Can't make a mistake...

Our romantic weekend away could not have been more perfect. This Westin is ideally located at the edge of Vail at the base of Beaver Creek Mountain. Ready access to the riverfront trail afforded easy brisk exercise for us and our basset hound. The facility design is beautiful - sleek yet luxurious - without the mountain kitsch so commonly found in the area. Our one bedroom suite had a fully equipped kitchen with every detail anticipated. Everything was impeccably maintained. Without exception, every staff member was professional, attentive and practiced genuine hospitality - even to our dog. Some facilities purporting to welcome pets only tolerate them. This Westin makes the pets and their owners feel truly valued and welcome, not just with a provided pet bed and bowls, but with staff team members who seem to genuinely like both animals and their people! The late checkout policy for Sundays is absolutely unique. It is so civilized to have a staff person actually offer a later checkout - not begrudgingly but as if they understand and care that you don't want your weekend to end too soon! Unlike many hotels where there is a sense of the guest being a tolerated nuisance, The Westin Riverfront Resort makes the guest feel that they are their reason for existence - how refreshing. We worked many years in the hospitality industry, and many more years travelling heavily - this was a truly exceptional travel experience for two travelers who expect much but are often disappointed. Thank you!

Room Tip: We were adjacent to the elevators yet there was absolutley NO NOISE impact from them. Upper floors...

Green Features: One of the "greenest" resorts we have found. From showers that allowed you to "opt-in" for more flow, to three way cfl light bulbs that I have not seen used before, they made green feel luxurious!

Our recent stay at the Westin was exceptional. We went to celebrate our engagement. The lobby is gorgeous and has a nice fireplace to relax by. When we arrived to the room, we noticed a complimentary bottle of champagne, and a nice note. That was a sweet touch and good way to start off the weekend. The bed was insanely comfortable I never wanted to leave it. All the blankets and pillows were comfy and the 600threadcount sheets were divine. Everything was luxurious, inviting and warm. Room came with a kitchenette and any thing you could need to cook with. This bathroom had a nice double headed shower and a large tub. Everything was sparkling clean. The three infinity hot tubs is where we spent lots of time. Has a beautiful view. Nice place to have a drink and chill. The pool was heated and very nice. The locker rooms have a big steam room, showers (shampoo, conditioner, body wash already there). Be sure to check it out if you stay here. Worth it. All of the staff here is friendly and more then willing to help with whatever you need. Overall, I have never been this satisfied and I cant wait to go back!

Room Tip: Room 822 is excellent. Private because its not on the pool side.

This hotel is absolutely gorgeous and super clean. Our room was spacious, had lots of drawer/closet space and the fireplace was amazing. We were able to open our balcony door at night to get the fresh Colorado air. Highly recommend the gym! It's beautiful and has plenty of machines. After the gym, jump in the steam room! That will start your day out perfectly. Overall this hotel was a solid purchase, absolutely no complaints about the trip whatsoever. We'll definite.y be back! In addition to the hotel, the Mexican restaurant, Maya was wonderful.

Great Hotel with outstanding views. Hotel is only missing one thing, a good on-site restaurant. The only thing was a small café and a Mexican place at night. Really need a better choice for food. Spa was way to expensive for the service received!

Green Features: A bit over the top on the environmental stuff. Please, change my sheets and give me some extra clean towels.

First time had stayed here the weekend of August 16th-18th and we enjoyed hiking in Vail and attend Ed Fest in Edwards. Booked the Maya package which seemed to be a good deal with two free margaritas and $50 gift card to on-site restaurant. Got a very nice basic room as part of the package with fully equipped mini kitchen and comfortable bed. I would consider possibly booking a nicer larger room in the future. Room faced pool and great view of mountains.

Some complaints about room was that a gap under the door that let a lot of light into the room(had to use a towel to block light to darken room) and noisy guests retuning to their rooms could be heard from the hallway. Another slight con was the valet only parking and since hotel was fully booked during our stay had to wait each time even when calling down to get car. Valet were friendly and professional though and we tipped well each time, which I think helped expedite service.

Pool and spa were very nice and workout facilities are top notch. With the $20 + tax resort fee you might as well enjoy these amenities.

Had dinner at Maya and menu is very similar to Tamayo in Denver (Richard Sandoval restaurants) which we liked a lot. Maya is relatively new to this Westin location and there are some issues that needed to be worked out regarding charging to room and ordering room service. We had asked our waiter if we could charge to our room and there was a little attitude and were told we'd have to somehow prove we were staying there, so we just paid separate.

The other issue I found out later after checking out was that the room service amenity my husband had ordered through Westin concierge was supplied through Maya and showed up on our bill at checkout but was also charged later by Maya. I had to contact the hotel to fix this, which they did credit it, but then tried to charge resort fees again which I had already paid, then had to request this to be credited. Just a little brain damage after the fact that makes me concerned with staying here again and having to sort though my bill after my stay.

Overall, nice hotel and great location close to I-70 and next to beautiful river with mountain views.

Room Tip: ask for mountain view when booking
