This was our second stay at the Coach & Horses and again it didn’t disappoint. This time we stayed for two nights in mid-September in the same double room, number one at the front of the building.
We booked direct by phone saving the £5- per night online booking fee.
The pub is run by Sheila and her daughter Helen. Helen is more in the background running the kitchen, while Shelia is the ‘front of house’ so to speak.
The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming from both staff and locals, which in my opinion reflects the very pleasant personality of the landlady. She has a very nice buzzing trade here serving a changing selection of real ales at a reasonable price.
We stayed Thursday and Friday and ate in the pub on both evenings, paying a total each night of just under £40- for two courses and three drinks between us. The food was very nice as of course was the substantial breakfasts.
The pub has a nice large back garden that faces due west and gets the full benefit of the setting sun in the summer months. Plenty of room here for all including some sheltered areas for the smokers.
Situated a few miles from Sandringham and an easy drive to the North Norfolk coast, this pub makes an excellent base.
We like it here...a lot.More
