“Magical place”

Absolutely stunning place. We only spent one night but we were treated very well. The host spent at least an hour chatting to us on the terrace as the sun went down. The bedroom was beautiful, with fabric on the walls and gorgeous bedding. I was convinced the bed was a French antique but soon learned it was an equally expensive John Lewis! The local bar/post office was quaint and the owner taught us how to say 'same again'. We ate at the local restaurant and the food was fine; breakfast at the Chateau was top notch too. The photos don't do justice to the expensive furniture and attention to detail. This was a perfect stopover on the way to the Charente and we can't wait to stay again this year.

Just headed up to Tours on the last leg of a trip around France. Thoroughly enjoyed the last couple of days staying in the Southern Touraine in this superb little chateau. Wonderful atmosphere and very congenial, helpful English/French speaking host. Dinner at the nearby Michelin one star restaurant, La Promenade, is a must.

You will have a wonderful time at the Chateau. Rooms are beautifully decorated, large and clean. Breakfasts are great and nearby are many good and varied restaurants.

We came from Paris on the train to Tours, picked up a hire car and drove for one hour to La Celle Guenand. We used the car to see the sights of the Loire Valley - most attractions are just a short drive away from the chateau.

Our hosts were attentive to every detail. Highly recommended.

We spent one night in the Chateau de la Celle-Guenand and it was a excellent choice. We were the only guests for the night so Stephen gave me the choice of a bedroom. All the rooms are lovely decorated, have spacious bathrooms - very modern for a chateau - and beautifull views of the garden and impressive courtyards. I chose the red-room as it have this enormous bathroom, very romantic atmosphere and a four poster bed. The linen is fresh and of good quality. Lovely big and soft towels. The gardens are beautifull and we had a nice afternoon stroll through the property - discovered some interesting passageways under the old Chateau wall - of which Stephen gave us some interesting information on his excavations on the property and the town's participation in putting the town on the tourist map. We had dinner at the local Restaurant/salon de the/bar/post office. The food was well prepared and of fresh local produce and at an excellent price - couldn't believe our ears. We will one day go back there to see if Stephen has succeeded in all his plans for the property.

We were looking for somewhere very different to stay in the second week of our fortnight holiday in France and where we blown away when we drove through the gates and up the drive to the impressive courtyard. The online photos really don't do the chateau any justice. Stephen immediately greeted us in a friendly informal manor which really set the tone of our stay. Relaxed and stress free. You really experience a way of life long gone...We stayed in the Conciergerie preferring more space which was really like having our own house...a combination of old furnishing and modern touches made it an extremely comfortable stay...Thanks Stephen...

Stayed in the Logis Du Jardinier for one week and had an excellent time. Set in the grounds of the chateau with it's own private garden the converted barn was perfect for our stay. The accomodation was very clean and had everything you needed. Also received an excellent welcome pack upon arrival and some new board games for the children. Stephan was a superb host - there to help but gave you total privacy. You have access to the rest of the grounds and even the private allotment for fresh fruit and vegetables. An excellent base for visiting the many chateau, villages and towns. 10/10

We enjoyed a lovely 2 night stay here as part of our self-driving tour of the Loire Valley. Stephen was a wonderful host and was most helfpul even before we arrived, while I was planning the trip. He provided us with helpful advice and suggestions while for our itinerary, and even helped book a wine tasting we wanted to go to in Vouvray for us, and a restaurant in a nearby town for dinner.
The chateau has a wonderful medieval feel to it. The room was very comfortable, with the largest ensuite bathroom I've ever seen in my entire life. The huge windows of the bathroom opens to a rooftop view of the town's church.
The cooing of doves in the early morning and the cool morning breeze just had an air of serenity about it. Breakfast was served on the terrace, overlooking the grounds of the chateau. We especially loved the wonderful home-made jams, served with fresh crusty bread and french butter. Sitting out on the terrace in the sun, enjoying our breakfast, was to me the epitome of country French living. Just wonderful!!!
Sightseeing around the area was quite easy with our rented car and most major sights were within driving distance and made great day trips. Driving down the small country roads added to our experience and enjoyment of this lovely part of France.
