Hey, I stayed here for a week over new year after reading the good reviews on here. Can honestly say the place is fantastic! A family run hostel that has private rooms and shared bathrooms. Chelo and her two sons run the place and they couldn't be more friendly or welcoming. Great breakfast as well!

Very cool hostel in the jungle. The breakfast is amazing and super big portions and the family that run this hostel are lovely and really helpful.

This is not set up for the rain so bring insect repellant and prepare for a camping experience.

Note, toilet and shower block are unisex and there are transparent shower curtains so don't expect any privacy.

The location of this hostel is on the highway (literally) so bring ear plugs as you will hear trucks braking to go over the speed hump!

Great location for the ruins and beach as it is a 8 - 10 minute walk away. Taxi's into town are $70 pesos (fixed rate) one way.

Room Tip: If you are into creature comforts stay in town otherwise stay here as all rooms are very rustic and...

We stayed 2 nights at Posada los Mapaches. Since we first arrived, we felt the really good vibe. The breakfast is very good, with the fresh and colorfull fruit. The location is great. We really recommend this place. Defenitely stay here people!

Ok so, I swear I am not exaggerating. I have travelled quite a bit in my life, I have couch surfed for a couple of months, seen some nice cities, met a bunch of people, but I have never met anyone as special as the family running this Posada.

Chelo is the most loving person ever. She greeted us as if we were her own family. Joaquin, Chelo's son, never stops smiling ( like literally not even one second) and brings amazing vibes to the place. Daniel, the oldest son, keeps this place clean and spotless as if it was their first day opening. All kinds of amazing animals accompany this fairy tale - Pez, the crossed eyed cat, Chloe, the most relaxed dog, all kinds of coati ( a mixed of racoon and squirrel) and so on.

Just like every other review says: includes a bike ( with a head lamp), a delicious and huge breakfast ( different every day), beautiful private rooms, a clothesline, and all kinds of amazing recommendations of things to do, places to see, restaurants to discover. We had a room with two floors, with allowed us to have our own privacy even in our room!

Muchas gracias todavia Chelo, Joaquin y Daniel.
Claro que regresaremos pronto
besos. Annie, Jade & David

We went to Tulum, but we did not have a reservation, we had some hostel in mind tho. We went to Posada Los Mapaches first, and there was a room available we did not hesitate to take it, great choice we made!. Do not go anywhere else in Tulum, this place is unique!

The location of this hostel is slightly out of town, but this means that the beach opposite is not developed and never crowded and is very beautiful.

The price includes a bike which makes getting around really easy and fun and the breakfasts are amazing!

The hosts are beautiful and so welcoming! Chelo is so lovely and is her son Joaquin.

If you stay for a few days get Joaquin to take you snorkelling to some of the lesser known ceynotes - this was a very cool experience.

Stayed here for two weeks we loved it so much and were very sad to leave.

When we first arrived in Tulum, we were only going to stay two nights. We ended up skipping the extra night in Playa del Carmen to stay here instead! Right when we came in Cello sat us down and showed us all there was to explore and do in the Tulum area. After ten minutes of her going over the map of the area, my husband and I both agreed that this was the best place in Qunitana Roo. The bikes also made it super easy to visit some nearby Cenotes; which we did immediately. Cello and her son were the two nicest people we ever met and took such kind care of us during our stay. We saw some wild raccoon-looking animals they would feed each week, and we ourselves had THE BEST breakfast i have received ANYWHERE. My fondest memories of our tour in Mexico is our stay at Pasado Los Mapaches in Tulum.

Room Tip: There was no swimming pool or fitness center; but who needs one when you are 5 minutes bike ride fro...
