“An easy way to see some jungle”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

We saw a number of spider monkeys--our guide did a great job in locating them and helping us maximize our experience. He also was helpful and knowledgeable regarding the birds.

“monkey see monkey do”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

Hire a guide, make sure you only pay 250P come at 3 so you have enough time to go canoeing. The drive out there seems long but just keep on going, once you're there you can't miss it.

“a great 1st cenote experience and jungle trek”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

Trekking though the jungle search for monkeys was fun even though no monkey was sighted. The Mayan Blessing was a great spiritual experience. We went there with Mexican Kan Tour. We also canoed to the zip line spot. We also spotted lots of birds. It was a great place for a morning visit!

“Very nice nature preserve with good restaurant, a beautiful lake, and monkeys!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

This place is on the road between Holbox and Coba and is well worth a visit. We arrived late but the charming Mayan restaurant still made us some food. I loved the embroidered tablecloth with monkeys and flowers. The lake is just beautiful. We didn't want to do the zip lines but we could hear happy shouts in the distance. We did not hire a guide, being short of time, but one came up to us in the preserve and offered to give us a short tour for a reduced price, which we did. I don't know if we would have seen as many monkeys as we did and the trails are confusing. All in all, it was a very nice stop. The sign says "Sitio Ramsar Otoch Ma'ax" and not Punta Laguna,

“it depends”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2012

There are several options when visiting the Punta Laguna Natural reserve. You pay entrance fee of $60 pesos and then you can choose a basic spider monkey sightseeing trip (about 30 min) or kayaking in the lake/ziplining/howler monkey watching which is much more expensive option.

I guess for ziplining you cannot compete with XPLOR, kayaking can be done elsewhere for free etc etc. Just my opinion. If you have extra money this may be a good half day activity.

We chose the spider monkey tour and we saw some monkeys up there at the treetops. No more no less. I guess it as ok as a stop on the way to Coba.

We also stopped at the village nearby: we saw a young man making hammocks so we visited his crafts shop, and it was a better part of the trip.
