“Great Staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

It is hard for me to say that we had an awesome stay. We enjoyed our stay but were glad that it was only short. Unfortunately we had building works behind us, which meant being woken by a jackhammer just at 830am. Not ideal for my husband who works in heavy industry and went to Tulum for a couple of days quiet.
The staff are fantastic you could not fault them at all. I was dissapointed with our stay, having booked 6 months in advance they had ample time to book us into a different part of the resort or contact us before to let us know. The following day they workers arrived at 730am started talking loudly and then working until about830 at which time they must have been asked to stop because it went quiet.
I was also annoyed that housekeeping had not locked our door. An easy mistake to make but one I would prefer not to have happened in an area known for problems with stealing.

Dear Guests,

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry you had an experience that did not result in a perfect stay. We did have the situation of palapa-roof workers arriving very early, although they did not begin working, we recognize and apologize if their speaking among them in an area close to your room was irritating you. We thank you also for having reported the situation to our staff as this helped us to immediately correct the situation and supervise the area.

Please note, Beach Hotels require constant maintenance and service operation, therefore we appreciate your comment and will make sure to coordinate this in a way that do not disturb our clients.

Regarding the door not locked properly, we will review the procedures with all our staff. We are happy nothing happened since Tulum is very safe, although, as you mention it is important to be cautious as in any part of the world.
Thank you for your comprehension.

Muchas Gracias

Second time at Cabanas Tulum, we stayed for eight days and we will be be back. We loved the cabana right on the beach, the leisurely breakfasts, and the very friendly staff - Gabriela and Anna and Adrian in reception and Candy attending to the cabana. There is sufficient wi-fi reception in the reception and restaurant areas. The free breakfast was always yummy and the servers always helpful and friendly. The complimentary chips and dips (mango, salsa, and tomato) were amazing with an afternoon beer or cocktail. We will return soon. .

Dear Guests,

Thanks so much for your review and, of course, for being repeated guests. We are very enthusiastic to know that you found your little Eden here at our Beach Hotel and that your second time turned out to be as relaxing and pleasant as the first time.
All the staff and especially the front desk team say hello and are looking forward to seeing you again. All the best!

Muchas Gracias

Staff was great, room clean and just know.....no phones in room, no TV on entire property & Wi-Fi is spotty at best in rooms (OK in Lobby area)......AC comes on at 7 p.m. each night, off at 7 a.m.......just open doors and let the breezes do their thing. No problem in May, July I don't know? I'd suggest a trip to supermarket for ice, it can get pretty lengthy waiting. The one thing I would suggest management change is the ticket system for breakfast, you have to go to front desk each day to get tickets. Just give guest their tickets at checkin for their entire stay. Finally, if you require room service you have to go to front desk, then they call for someone to come to your room with menu......

MUCH thanks to Anna for her suggestions and help. Go Gators!

Dear Guests,

On behalf of the whole staff, "thanks very much" for staying with us and for your contribution here on TripAdvisor. Like we always mention, our guests' comments are very important to us and helps keeping up the positive spirit. We really like the fact that you managed to unplug and recharge some Caribbean energy.
Since you stayed in May, which is actually a very hot month, there is not a lot of difference between May and July, we 'd say.
Another aspect you brought up are the breakfast tickets, we use these tickets as a form of receipt for the restaurant staff so that they can distinguish Hotel guests from walk-in guests. In the past, we have tried giving out the tickets all at once, but it did not work well and created some confusion, this is why we ask our guests to stop by at the front desk, to get their vouchers before going over to Ziggy's.
We hope you will visit us again on your next trip to Tulum. Take care.

Muchas Gracias

The location of the cabannas is amazing but all the similar places along the beach road have the same luxury. The staff were friendly and attentive. The rooms were always cleaned thoroughly. We had a few 'creatures' in our room but this is to be expected in this sort of accommodation in the jungle.

We only ate lunch and breakfast at the hotel and the complimentary breakfast is ample and the extra breakfast options you could buy and lunches were good.

Lots of hammocks, sun loungers, swings etc dotted around making for a very relaxing break.

We attended the BBQ on the Wednesday evening, possibly the most delicious food we ate in Mexico, plus a free cocktail. Would definately recommend it.

Room Tip: We stayed in Marco Polo, not much of a balcony view but it is very spacious

We stayed in cabanas Tulum from the 3/4/13-8/4/13 and loved it.

We stayed in room 32, this was garden view, 2nd floor and had a bit of a view of the beach through the trees. The room had everything we needed for the stay. A fridge in the room would have been nice but not required and possibly not possible as there is no mains electricity at the beach. We had power 24/7 with AC from 7pm although we did not use this due to the pleasant sea breeze. We also had wi-fi coverage in the room. My only negative would be that the water pressure wasn't great and the flooring in the shower wasn't the best.

The cabanas provide water on arrival and cool drinking water is available at reception, we topped up our water bottles daily from here which was a nice touch. There is also tea and coffee in the mornings.

The breakfast included at Ziggys was excellent, you can order any item on the menu with coffee and juice. This was very nice when compared to the continental buffet offered elsewhere.

For us, the best part of the stay was the staff!! The restaurant staff are always very pleasant and always had a smile on their face. Best of all were the reception staff and in particular Manuel was amazing. He is unbelievably helpful and just generally a very nice person, really made us feel like part of the 'family'. He also gave us great advice on places to eat etc.

We enjoyed the stay so much we changed our plans to return to Tulum but unfortunately we couldn't get a room here and had to stay next door instead. It definitely says something for cabanas Tulum that when we wanted to sort out a hire car or had any questions we would go to cabanas reception to ask Manuel or one of his colleagues.

Top class destination but not exactly cheap!

This hotel is well located and amazing quiet. We stayed in the older section, which was adequate and clean, but very basic. It would have been nice to have a mini-fridge and more than two bottles of water for the week. No frills here. The beds are pretty hard too. I had read about the AC only working an night and thought this might be an issue, but it wasn't. The prevailing winds kept the room very comfortable during the day. Overall this was a great value. Ziggy's restaurant next door was very good.

Room Tip: If adults only are traveling, stay in the new section.

Dear Guest,

Many thanks for leaving a review and sharing your experience with us. We are pleased to know that you had a good time at Cabañas Tulum enjoying especially the quietness and relaxing atmosphere at our beach resort. Thank you also for your suggestions, all our staff is alway eager to know where to improve or what kind of preference our guests have. Just a little side note, there is a refill station for drinkable water at our front desk area, this is thought to save plastic bottles and help to recycle them. There is another one located in the lobby of our sister Hotel, by the way, the new section is actually called The Beach Tulum and is a different property. We hope you will visit us again on your next trip to Tulum.

Muchas Gracias

We have been to Tulum several times- this place is by far the winner in every category.
A perfect balance of rustic in all the right ways but extremely comfortable. The Christopher Columbus cabaña was the best!
Very, very good food (much better than some fancier places we have been in Tulum)
Georgeous landscaping- feels so secluded on the strip packed with hotels.
The grounds have so many interesting, fun little touches that show a lot of care and attention.
The beach is pristine with lovely, huge lounger beds.
The staff are very sweet- personable, charming, knowledgeable. Perfect mix of attentive when you need them, but leave you alone to relax!
Everything was easy, effortless.
My brain could turn off.

My only concern is that I do not think they should permit children under 5 yrs in the beach cabañas. You can hear every little noise through them- To be plagued with a toddler crying for hours every afternoon then awake and screaming at 5am, was not cool!

Still, the best thing in Tulum.

¡Muchas gracias!

Hello and greetings from Tulum,

We just wanted to let you know that your review has been posted on our property listing, Hotel Cabañas Tulum but as we understood, you actually stayed at a different Hotel, La Luna, which is only 200m away from our venue.
However, we are glad that you had such a great time in Tulum.
