“My Dreams Tulum Dream Wedding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

I will briefly discuss my general thoughts and likes about the resort then will focus on a wedding review. Likes and dislikes, are completely subjective and there are plenty of reviews that focus on location, food grounds etc.

Everyone one of my 16 guests loved this hotel. The grounds, location, staff -the food not everyone was as crazy for, but the majority thought it was fantastic.
The entertainment is good, the fire show was great. And the staff is fantastic. We especially enjoyed David "cappuccino ", Tino Valenzuela, Victoria(trainee-NY), Issac in the photoshop, and Joaquin in room services.
I had a wonderful spa treatment as a gift. The holistic massage performed by Moises was amazing. It was set in a jungle cabana in a stunning setting. Highly recommend!
Our Premium Jr Suites in building 15b was located at the main fountain and is a perfect location between the lobby, beach and near all restaurants, while being far enough from the nightly noise.
One more shoot out to "Le Piel" or The Skins, a weekly cover band that were truly fantastic. Rudy and the rest of the band were amazing musicians. Only downside, is they are only there once a week.

The wedding was amazing. We purchased the ultimate wedding package and added about 1400 USD in upgrades which included, colour fabric for canopy, colour napkins, mariachi band etc centrepieces and flower arrangements. Set up fees for my fairy lights and table decor. After conversion the cost of an 18 person wedding, hair + makeup, dress steaming, complimentary couples massage, wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, 50 photos and video, tons of floral decor etc etc was about 5800 Canadian $. Not including our ten day stay. Great value and beauty for our money. Nayeli our wedding coordinator went above and beyond for us and I highly recommend her. Likewise, my hair and make up was fantastic. The two ladies that did me and my bridesmaids hair were great. I only remember Laura's name who did my friend, but my girl was so amazing I wish I wrote her name down. My hair and make up we wow factor amazing. For our reception, We ate shrimp pastry thing for our app (not my fav), Green Salad with citrus dressing ( the best thing ever), and the Surf and Turf, filet mignon, mine was well done special for me and still was like butter.

We are so over the moon happy with our photos, that they deserve special mention. We paid an additional $900 USD to upgrade to gold package. That gave us photos until the end of the night, in multiple locations, including friends and family. Teo our photographer was fantastic both as a person and photographer. We love, love, love our pictures he took.

I hope this review helps future brides!

Room Tip: 15b is a great location, renovated section

Grounds are gorgeous and immaculate. All the restaurants are excellent. Italian is by far the best. Ocean view suite is huge with extensive marble through out. You can walk down the beach in either direction for a long ways - no one around. Very secluded. Not like at resorts around Playa.

My phone and wife's watch were stollen from our room safe. Security did nothing, Most likely security was behind the thefts.
We were double charged for airport transport. Unable to resolve.
Rooms were noisy!!!
We were constantly harassed by resort personnel selling trips, activities, and other Dreams properties.
Electronic room keys were defective.
Food and restaurants terrible.
Wifi did not work.
We were there for a wedding. Wedding planner was terrible. Everything the bride asked for was an extra charge.
Don't go. If you're booked, CANCEL!!!

Room Tip: We asked for quiet. Impossible to find.

Green Features: Not at all friendly. All superficial. It's all about separating tourists from their money.

Rocks and more rock no 5 feet from shore. Children love it here. It's almost Disney Land. Beautifull grounds, good food and drinks and a staff that does a great job. But, it's a mega resort and lack any personal feel. We enjoy a swim in the gulf waters but if you enjoy a couple of shallow pools full of children, loud nightly music, this might be for you.

Room Tip: Ocean view might help.

We stayed a total of 6 nights. Upon arrival we were met by friendly staff who told us the room would take a little longer to get ready. We went to eat lunch and enjoyed the lovely breezes from the open restaurant. Food was good.
Once we got the room it was very clean and inviting. We were in a walkout by the Pool.
Our visit to the Asian restaurant that evening was okay, food was not great, service however was excellent.
We tried the French restaurant and the Italian and both were excellent, food was very tasty.
Loved the entertainment, shows were so well put together. The activities staff were incredible. They even got my husband involved in Beach Volleyball(Married 33 years I never knew he could play!)
Overall, we had a great time,it was family time .
Many of us are way to busy in our daily jobs we forget to relax. Dreams Tulum was great relaxation. I joined in with Zumba and Water aerobics , it was fun. Margaritas are to die for ...try the Mango Margarita.
There were always beach chairs available, plenty of towels and never a wait for the restaurants.
Would definitely recommend.Great place for kids of all ages.

Room Tip: Ask for the Hacienda area it is a little quieter than where we were but we did not mind.

Green Features: Great job on recycling, very green. They also support a great foundation in Tulum. Manager Alex is the best!

As soon as you arrive , you are treated so well by the staff. My family and friends (17 in total!)were totally amazed at how well this resort is kept up and how well managed it was. We've been here before and absolutely love it! The rooms were so clean and kept up with every day. It's great to come back from a day at the beach to a picked up and cleaned room. The staff at the pool were always so attentive to us. Benito one of the pool waiters was so good at keeping up with us at the pool. The pool entertainment staff was great. They had so many activities, we always had something to to. Props to David "capuccino" and the rest of the entertainment staff. There is always something to do and the staff is so pleasant. The restaurants were so accommodating to our large group that we couldn't ask for anything more. They were great. Antonio the food and beverage manager was always checking to make sure we were happy and accommodated. The executive chef Felipe was at every restaurant that we went to every day! This guy is always making sure that the food is great and it is. His dedication and staff is one of a kind. Everyone from Benito the pool waiter, to Antonio the food and beverage manager to the Felipe the executive chef were great! Cannot ask for a better vacation. Big thanks to the everyone there from the general manager of the resort to the housekeeping staff for making my family vacation great! Thanks

We had a wonderful time at Dreams Tulum. Of course, there are always pros and cons, but I would highly recommend it, if this is the type of vacation you are looking for.

First, you fly into Cancun Airport. Cancun is 75 miles from Tulum. If you do not take a private charter, but shared shuttle like we did it will take you anywhere from 2-3 hours to get to the hotel from the airport, depending how many places you stop. On the way back to the airport we were the only ones and it took an hour and 15 minutes (fast driver, where first driver was slow). Also, when you do tours, consider that even though they tell you everything is 35 minutes away, once again you will be stopping to pick other people up/drop off so it is more like an hour. The advantage is that your resort is secluded. It is not a row of hotels that look all alike. You are alone and there is no light pollution and you can see the stars and it is quiet and peaceful and you can walk on the beach. The two things you are close to are the Tulum Ruins and Xel-Ha. We were totally fine with it though and the relaxation factor was wonderful.

The resort is intimate, so there for there is a high level of service. You are greeted with champagne and Shirley temple for the kids. People bend over backwards to please you. They remember your names and cater to the children. It is very family friendly and was a good level of crowd. Not too much, but festive. During the week was quiet and family oriented. Toward the weekend it go more crowded and more weddings and more singles and more rowdiness in the pool. But during the week was fine.

There are two pools. One has lots of activities, games, photo opps, etc. The other was the relaxation pool and is very peaceful and starts at 2 ft and goes to 5 ft. The activities pool is 3-4 ft. No lifeguards at the pool. The surf is rough on the beach, but the water is warm and crystal clear. There is a lifeguard on the beach. They have a water trampoline too.

The entertainment staff is second to none. They are so friendly are encourage you to participate in activities but not pushy. They come to each table at night at the restaurants and tell you about the nightly activities. The shows were outstanding--water show, fire show, magician, comedian, Mexican Night. Victoria was especially warm and friendly and nice to the kids. She had a spectacular personality.

They also have schedules all over and online. I got the app. Free WiFi and calls to the US at the hotel.

There are 6 included restaurants. If you like to eat healthy and don't eat red meat, food is a challenge. They don't make a lot of substitutions and changes and if it is not on the menu they don't have it and can't get it. Lots of Mexican of course. They put cheese, butter, salt, etc. on everything. The breakfast buffet is very plentiful. They make omelettes and they make fresh juice. They also have a smoothie bar open from 11 to 4. They have a coffee shop open 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. You can get coffee drinks, tea, fruit, sandwiches and desserts. Portions are not abundant. They couldn't care less if you like it or not. The only stellar service and food I found is for the dinners you pay extra for. Our dinner on the beach was made for us by a chef and we order custom food. You can not make reservations at the restaurants, but only one night was there a wait and we just went somewhere else. You can only reserve special meals for extra $.

We did VIP service and did not pay for an upgrade to preferred. With preferred you get an oceanfront room or a swim out pool room in a private pool. You also get to use certain lounges and have some special meals. We did not think it was worth the extra money. We had a Garden View room junior suite. It was very large. Got an extra bed and there was a day bed and king size bed. Could also have two queens. Bathroom was huge with separate shower and tub. Double sinks. All marble floors. No carpet. Nice patio. Very peaceful. Our housekeeping I think had a bit of language barrier. A few days we did not have enough towels and they never did turn down. Not sure why, even though we asked and they said one moment and sure. They survey at the end asked how we liked the turn down service and we dinged them on that.

The tour company Amstar was amazing. Loved Marisol who booked all our tours. She gave great suggestions and was super sweet.

The spa is beautiful. You can get anything you want there and are treated like royalty.

Neither child wanted to do the kids explorer program. Usually they do. We went to look at it and it was set back and there mostly younger kids.

You can do everything or do nothing. Totally up to you. We did a relaxing pool/beach day 3 1/2 days of 6 and tours the other days. I like to see and do so I can't sit in the sun day after day. I like a combo.

All and all I highly recommend Dreams and wouldn't hesitate to stay at another one of their resorts. I was overall pleased.

Room Tip: Depends what you want. We did the garden view junior suite and had plenty of room and peaceful pati...
