“Fabulous resort and staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

We stayed for one week it was fantastic, the rooms are excellent especially the beds and pillows, the restaurants are varied and extremely good quality especially the Italian and French ones. Daniel looked after us all day on the beach nothing was too much trouble and Desiderio at the swing bar ensured we had our favourite drinks in the evening. Highly recommend this resort.

Room Tip: upstairs are best

We stayed at the Dreams Tulum for 1 week with our 2 children aged 5 and 9 months. We normally prefer smaller hotels rather than larger all inclusive resorts so we were a little nervous of how we would find it despite very good reviews.

However we had nothing to worry about. It's a great place in particular for families with excellent facilities, service and good food.

We stayed in a garden room which had 2 double beds and ample space for a cot for our baby so comfortably fit the 4 of us. The bathroom was a generous size with both shower and bath and we had a balcony with a hammock which was a nice touch.

The food which was one of our worries was very good. There are a number of restaurants available offering different types of cuisine most of which offer an a la carte experience. There could possibly be a little more choice on the menus but everything we ordered tasted pretty good.

There is also a cafe offering fresh tea, coffee and cakes, a smoothie bar and the "barefoot grill" which offered burgers, hotdogs and nachos most of the day which were nice touches. You will never be hungry here.

The resort is spread out nicely with rooms built around pleasant courtyards. There are 2 swimming pools and the hotel is right on the beach with beautiful views of the ocean. Despite the fact that are lots of people there you don't feel it so much because of the layout.

There is plenty of entertainment on offer. The kids club has many activities and you can dip in and out as your kids prefer. There is a volleyball and football pitch on the sand which is very popular and where our 5yr old spent most of his week. There are many activities for adults and a variety of evening events. The entertainment staff are clearly passionate people who enjoy what they do and a lot of effort is made in particular on events like the Mexican night, the Water show and the kids club activities.

For families the hotel is great with the kids club referred to above and child options on the menu. The staff at Coco cafe happily washed our baby bottles for us and though they didn't provide a steriliser they put ours in the microwave for us when we needed to.

The service is generally excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would say on a par with dubai in terms of service levels.

The only areas of improvement I would say are:
- availability of a few more water sports in particular windsurfing as the wind was good at least when we were there so perfect conditions
- a few more beds by the pool. I guess we were here at peak time but unless you hit the pool early almost all the beds were gone
- check in after a 10 hour flight and 2 hour transfer is a little underwhelming. Could be faster and more welcoming (welcome drink?) and we had to wait a while for the baby cot so it didn't appear that they were ready for our arrival.

However these points didn't detract from our holiday.

Overall I would say this is a fantastic place for families looking for a relaxing break, the highlight being the excellent friendly service.

When here in early November for our sons wedding. Could not be happier. Was treated wonderfully by all the staff. Facilities clean and in good repair. I felt safe at all times walking throughout the resort. We were with a group so it was nice to be able to join others when we wished or go off on our own. Evening entertainment was excellent and staff was always very pleasant and obliging.

Room Tip: We were in a 2nd floor room above the swim out room. Was wonderfully quiet and a beautiful view of t...

We are parents of 10 and 13 yo kids who love urban hipster style, and both fell short here. We are also used to Club Med, the other all-inclusive place for fam + kids in Mexico, so comparisons will be made.
Dreams has very attentive staff and nice facilities and rooms. They have good shows and various activities, still not as good as CM. The food is not 1/2 as good as Club Med. They also make you go to different "restaurants" as opposed to one big grand buffet (like Club Med). We had a couple of frankly bad experience at two of these restaurants, the "sushi" place and the italian one. First of all, you could argue that sushi in Tulum is probably never a good idea, but the extent to which the fish came out rubbery and mummified is not be believed. Completely inedible. Then, the Italian restaurant had unbelievable slow service, so we were 3 cocktails in by 9 pm, having asked for a bread basket twice and getting nothing...we saw a half-empty bottle of wine at an abandoned adjacent table, and poured two glasses out of it. True, not a shining moment in my dining career, but we felt we deserved it for waiting so long. The maitre-d' came out and said the abandoned table might want that wine to drink the next night and so we had to pay for it. There ensued a nasty spat with them where I said if the guests wanted to drink that 1/2 bottle of wine tomorrow I would pay for it directly to them but I would not double pay the restaurant for this mediocre wine (that they wanted $84 for). They then said the guests only spoke French. I said, "how convenient as I am fluent in French." Their jaw dropped, and I picked up the house phone and called the guest and spoke French to them in front of the maitre'd and (of course) they said they had no intention of drinking that wine tomorrow and was I from Paris.
I tell this little story 'cause this is the kind of nickle-and-diming that would not happen at CM.
If you've heard about how awesome Tulum is and all the fashion stylists and yoginis who vacation here, it's not the strip of beach where Dreams is. It is about a 25 min taxi ride away. That strip of beach is the real Tulum where everyone is beautiful and cocktails are amazing (and cost $12 each) and where there are fancy Argentinian clothes shops and where we would have loved to stay, were it not for our kids who would have hated being in hipster Brooklyn-by-the-beach. They gave Dreams thumbs up and would stay there again but preferred CM (which was booked when we wanted to go).
So, we were between a rock and a hard place and so is Dreams....

Room Tip: don't be near the disco, the thump-thump-thump went on until 1 am every night

Went here with friends for my birthday. It was so fun. The resort is beautiful, service very good, food was great, loved it and would go back. We had a major problem with our shower but they moved us, apologized and made it up to us big time. We scheduled a dinner on the beach for 10 of us and were treated like royalty! We upgraded to a room with the swim out patio and it was so worth it. The spa was nice and the grounds were beautiful. We reserved a cabana on the beach everyday and it was great. I thought the service on the beach was slow, they needed more people serving. My favorite restaurant was the Mexican one with a nice view of the beach. We saw no need to leave the resort except to go to the ruins.
Loved the live band every night, very fun. Drinks are strong and the smoothie bar was wonderful. We were in the Preferred Club and loved that we had access to an exclusive part of the beach.

Room Tip: Upgrade to the swim out room! We were in the adults only rooms and loved them! If you want to be w...

We got married here in April 2014. The service at the resort was excellent and the wedding planing team was fantastic! Our wedding was much better than what we expected given it was a destination wedding. Having said that, the beach was nice but not great, Tulum has much better strips of beach and in fact we went to the public beaches because they were much nicer. The food was the biggest disappointment: The buffet was not good and the A la Carte restaurants had really long waiting lines and were good but not excellent. The rooms were nice but a bit old and some of them were falling apart. The whole hotel is in need of some maintenance.

Dear Lalesander

First of all we would like to thank you for taking the time to share your opinion regarding your recent stay at our resort.

We are happy to know that you highlight our service and specially our wedding team in your review. We are glad to know that our weddings department went above and beyond to make the wedding memorable.

On the other hand we are saddened to read that our food options and our room accommodations weren't as expected. We already shared your comments with our top management to take actions and improve the areas mentioned.

We would like to mention that we are close to the 2nd worlds largest coral reef barrier, due that some spots of our beach could be rocky, however they are great for snorkeling.

We hope you give us another opportunity to redeem ourselves in a future stay.

Sincerely.

Seve Oy

We had a large group for vacation and all we could all day was WOW what a great trip!! Alex the GM and his team took care of our every need. I could write forever about all the great staff and activities, but I'll keep it to my favorite.
Gilberto was my favorite bartender by the pool, he was so friendly and made great drinks. Master D- ( he had a super long name so I gave him a shorter on) was our bartender at the disco and was so FUN!!
The entertainment staff do you ever sleep? Manuel and team kept you hoping and laughing all day and night with activities. My absolute favorite was the new water show, it was like a Vegas style show at the resort. The Super Bowl party was also a highlight.
The food was also good, we have done a lot of all inclusive resorts and Dreams really does a nice job. I have never seen so many great choices at breakfast. Even room service was super good.
The resort is well maintained and the service is over the top!! The rooms are very clean! The grounds are immaculate.
I can't think of any negative to share because it was all so amazing! Plan your vacation at Dreams Tulum today!
Can't wait to go back and see everyone thanks so much to the Dreams Tulum staff!
Cool last thing I want to share- Dreams Tulum allows guest to make a donation to help send the staff and family to college, I made a donation and if you can we can all make a difference together. The staff does a lot of amazing things for you on vacation do something for them!
