“wonderful stress free holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Hi from warrington uk i went to tulum with my partner for 2wks from 5th nov. we were looking for a restful, stress free holiday & that is exactly what we got. this was our 5th holiday in mexico. previously we have stayed at playacar & rivieria maya. we have stayed in other 5* hotels but this one was by far our favourite. once you get passed the chaos that is cancun airport you are ok. really do wish they would do something with it. we were on a full transfer coach & there were 2 drop offs before our hotel. at the first drop off 6-8 people got off. at the next it was like a mass excedus. the rep who was on the coach said 'cheerio' & said the driver would make sure we got to our hotel alright. we looked down the coach & there was only the 2 of us left. we began to wonder where we were going & was there something everyone else knew that we didn't. it was dark when we finally got to Dreams but we were given a really friendly welcome, a quick check in & shown to our room. my partner, on previous holidays, has always complained that we are never anywhere near the sea so this time i upgraded us to an ocean view. it was great only about 30yds from the beach. every morning i would get up about 6am put the coffee on & go for a walk along the beach, heaven. we loved all of the restaurants & there was no having to make bookings. the staff were all just so friendly & helpful & even when busy stopped to have a chat. the gardens were beautiful & so well tendered. having been before we weren't bothered about sight seeing & just a really relaxing time. i suppose our only moan would be that on a few days there were a few weddings & you were restricted where you could go along the beach. on our previous 4 visits to mexico we have never gone back to the same hotel but i think we will make an exception with Dreams.

Room Tip: if you want to be close to the sea & beach then it is best to upgrade. the majorite of the rooms...

We stayed in Dreams from 15th November until the 25th. We booked this hotel last minute as our previous hotel choice turned out to be overbooked two weeks before we set out (by the way, never book anything with Lowcost Holidays, a complete disappointment so would strongly suggest to book with a reputable company instead which is Atol protected). We had a lot of reservations given that our original hotel choice was adults only which Dreams isn't however most of our concerns were completely unfounded. Yes, there were children about but the hotel is super spacious around the pools and the beach area so you could easily find a space without children around.
We booked a deluxe junior suite with a garden view and were extremely happy with our choice. These types of rooms are located further away from the noisy areas so provide a more peaceful option if you don't want to hear loud music all day long (although I doubt you would be spending much time in your room apart from sleeping in it). We used USA Transfers for the airport transfer and again were very happy with the choice, we only waited about 10 minutes after leaving the terminal and got on our way very quickly. The check in process was quick and efficient and we were in our room within minutes after arriving. The room was lovely and very large with a nice balcony which also had a partial sea view. We also received a bottle of wine upon arrival and some fruit. The housekeeping service was fantastic and we tipped the staff several times (mainly to see their beautiful towel creations!). They come twice a day (morning and afternoon) and always are very friendly and helpful. They also restock your mini fridge and give you what you like so just ask. We didn't use the room service option but the menu was good and if the weather had been worse we would have definitely chosen to eat in the room. The hotel grounds are immaculate and there are always people maintaining it, trimming, watering etc. Every single member of the staff was very polite and friendly and always said hello to you when walking past. In terms of eating options, there are several restaurants and there is always lots to choose from. Buffet was our breakfast option although a few times we just opted for some pastries from the cafe instead. The buffet was almost always plentiful and varied and there were only a couple of occasions where we felt it lacked a bit but it was mainly due to overcrowding and the staff not re-filing trays fast enough. We ate at the buffet on at all meal times at least once. Apart from the buffet we tried several a la carte restaurants and the Seaside Grill and El Patio were our firm favourites overall. The steak in the grill is incredible and they also had a decent lunch menu. The Mexican was also delicious every time. In both of these you can sit outside which is great when it's hot outside. The grill place is literally on the beach so a beautiful setting for dinner. Our least favourite was the French place. The décor didn't match the menu and they should change the stuffy interior to a more contemporary bistro setting which would work better with what they serve. The food was ok but nothing to rave about so we only went there once. The hotel offers a wide variety of activities throughout the day (they bring you a program for the next day the evening before) and we participated in some of them which was great fun. We particularly enjoyed yoga on the beach in the morning, water aerobics and various evening shows (Capoeira, Fire show and the variety show are really worth seeing, you can skip the rest). Activities take place either on the beach or by the pool (the noisy one) and as I said before there is plenty of space to retreat to if this is not your thing. The entertainment staff were incredible and worked very hard from dusk till dawn. Karolina and Mario were our favourite people, always happy and friendly to everyone. In the afternoon the music went up and there were various dancing contests which you could take part in or just watch like we did which was god fun. The beach was really nice but fairly rocky directly in front of the hotel which was a shame. It wasn't a huge problem though as you could just walk a few minutes to your right to find most pristine a sandy beach. There was quite a lot of seaweed about but the staff worked all day clearing it and did a great job. If you wanted to venture out there were plenty of attractions nearby which you can get to yourself or using an organised tour. We only went out of the hotel once to see the Tulum ruins which are just down the road so we simply grabbed a cab and just went over there. It's really worth it and the views are stunning. The weather wasn't great for the first couple of day but then it really picked up hence why we didn't venture out much as we wanted to enjoy the pool and beach as much as possible.
Overall we would really recommend this hotel to couples or families but it would also be a good choice to come with friends. The hotel facilities are top quality and the only factors stopping us from giving it an excellent rating are the rocky beach and the fact that the you can hear everything going on outside your room in the corridor so if you are unfortunate enough to be staying next to a wedding party you might be woken up in the middle of the night by drunk people. Final note on the weddings: there are a lot of them taking place, sometimes two a day so you may not be able to get your first choice restaurant sometimes as it may be closed however there are 7 of them to choose from so even if 2 are closed there is still plenty left. The staff is what makes this place so great so please take your time to tip them and be polite to them as they work very hard for very little money. We saw a few instances of people being rude to staff because for example the omelette was made of 2 eggs instead of 3. This was really unnecessary and made the staff really upset so please just say clearly what you want when ordering and you won't have any issues. Thank you Dreams for a lovely holiday!!!

Room Tip: There is a section of the hotel with swim out rooms. It looked lovely and very peaceful so if we wer...

We stayed at the Dreams Tulum for 7 nights.Nov.2-9,2014 at the partial ocean view junior suit.
The property is so big we didn't see lots of people at once except in the restaurants.
Room: We got the second floor at arrival and we were very happy about it but we arrived at night .In the morning after opening the curtains the view took our breath away .
The room was big, comfortable king bed, nice decorated and a sofa bed too. We received a fruit basket and a bottle of wine the first night.
Housekeeping was very good with the afternoon turn down schedule.
Food was outstanding in all the restaurants and great service too.
Tv:Lots of options. 5 different language channels. There was a DVD payer in the room, very good for our daughter cartoons on top of the 6 kids channels.
Internet: The internet at the hotel it worked perfectly, even at the beach or pool.
Pool:No chair occupancy issues.
Hotel provided sun lotion free.
Grounds: We love to walk and it was plenty of area to do so. Absolutely beautiful everywhere to wonder around. They are different animals on the properties.
Beach: Nice sand. Well maintained beach area.
Gym: Great equipment with pool and spa around.
Room Tip: The whole entire property is gorgeous I am sure all the rooms are luxurious.
Overall we had a beautiful trip! Loved this place! Had a blast!?The entertainment was amazing, the beaches we awesome, and the restaurants were absolutely great!!!! I would recommend this place to anyone! Great service, great people, and great atmosphere!
Best Kids Camp from all inclusive hotels so far.

Hello from Chicago! First I want to say that the entire staff was always so happy and courteous but we would like to give special thanks to a handful of people that we got to know a little bit and took very well care of us. Limberth was our preferred daytime bar host in the main lobby, always very happy and happy to see you! Beatriz was also very wonderful! Always very happy and never to busy to stop for pleasant conversation. For a good laugh I would suggest visiting Christian at night, he is the bar host at the main pool across from the Sea Side Grill, very funny and excellent service! And last but not least, Regina and Jose Ek at the Seaside Grill provided excellent service as well and the filet was amazing! Thank you all for making our stay at the hotel absolutely wonderful! This resort is just what the doctor ordered for us, not too much party, and just the right amount of relaxation. They do not have too many activities available on this resort but offer tons of activities not too far from the resort. We choose to do a half day of snorkeling with the sea turtles, riding 4 wheelers through the jungle, and snorkeling in the under water caves. Al through Amstar was our guide for the day, very funny guy and very good at what he does! Always made sure you were comfortable and enjoying yourself.. This was a half day trip, so not too short and not too long. We left at around 8:20AM and got back just at 3PM, just enough time to relax by the pool a bit before dinner. The room was beautiful, we did do an upgrade to ocean view, it was located near the end of the resort enough away from the pools to where it was always very quite from all of the activities. The only upset my fiance had was the snorkeling off of the beach at the resort wasn't the best, a little foggy and rocky. He did really enjoy the snorkeling at the Akumal beach though, beautiful waters! I would suggest a trip there if you get the chance. Overall, just what the doctor ordered! and again, the staff is top notch, they take much pride in what they do and are always very helpful and happy! Thank you all and we will see you again!! ~ Rich and Teri

We are leaving today after spending 4 nights here with friends. Overall wonderful stay.

We had an ocean view room on the ground floor near the activity pool. It got a little noisy in the afternoon and evening if we were trying to rest, but we were so close to the beach, pools and restaurants!

I loved waking up to the sounds of the tropical birds. Walking to the spa or gym you will see many of them. There is a half-mile running/walking trail that I never saw anyone using - look for it up by the spa (you will recognize it because it's the very flat surface).

The staff has all been wonderful. Language was rarely an issue as English is widely spoken. You don't have to tip but we did because everyone was so gracious (they never solicited a tip).

Special call outs to Guadalupe who brought us drinks on the beach and Byron who booked our spa treatments.

Both the gym and spa have special chlorophyll water - give that a try! BTW, Ignore the spa prices because they are just a starting point - there's always a special of some sort to be had. The spa whirlpool requires a bathing suit, so be sure to take one if you go for a treatment.

I would recommend bringing your own insulated mug for drinks on the beach to keep them cold and because the provided cups are smallish. Be sure to ask that your drinks be made with the premium liquor you prefer, otherwise you will get the house liquor.

The resort provides toothbrushes, razor, lotion, body wash, sewing kit, etc., but the shampoo is conditioning shampoo....you might want to BYO conditioner lest your hair become dry.

World Cafe was great for breakfast, as was the room service. We never made coffee in our room, we just ordered it! For lunch El Patio was our favorite, though the Barefoot Grill is hard to pass up when you are already established at the pool or on the beach and don't want to loose your chairs. In the early afternoon don't miss Coco Smoothies (you have to look for it)! Skinny Adriana was my favorite drink, and I tried several! Portofino was the hands-down group favorite for dinner. Gohan has good sushi, but service gets slower as the crowd picks up, so try to order plenty to keep you occupied for a while. The only less than great meal we had was a dinner at the Seaside Cafe - food was served cold, but others in our party ate there and kept going back for their fries.

After dinner shows were a treat -very creative dances involving fire, colorful lights, or acrobatics.

The staff really wants to please you. If any of us ever had a special request they did all possible to accommodate it.

Spend a couple of days with my wife and 1 year old son. All the staff were very kind and nice, looking forward to give a good attention. The hotel is nice looking, it's decor is Mexican style, the buildings are divided in "little haciendas" so it feels like you are in a single little hotel. The rooms are are spacious and comfortable, so are the bathrooms where you can find a nice tub nexo to your bed. If you go with a stroller, please ask a for ground floor room, we stayed on the 1st floor and we had to carry it about 20 stairs.

The only bad thing I found at the hotel was the food. It really disappointed me that a hotel with very good service, good installations and from a good chain (amresorts) had a poor- medium quality in food taste. We tried the Mexican rest (el patio), the seafood rest (seaside grill), room service and non of them had good taste. The buffet service was good but don't expect a great variety for breakfast. The only restaurant with good taste we found was the Asian one ("hamitso" I think), please give it a try.

I really recommended to go with your family including little kids, you'll really enjoy it.

We stayed at Dreams beginning of Nov. and had a very nice time. We booked the swim out suites which we really enjoyed, It was private and quite. The food at the restaurants were excellent with the French being our favorite, the world cafe was the only disappointment but only went there for breakfast. All the staff at the resort are fantastic please remember to tip them well but I think the garden staff and cleaners need to be tipped as well not just the serving staff which we did and seen many grateful smiles. We went for massages at the spa which were great, yes it is pricey but if you wait for a special it will be well worth it. We did our tours through a private tour guide which I believe is called Edventure tours they were excellent. Also we booked private transfers from the airport and back which was well worth the money. The resort was clean and very nice. Enjoy!

Room Tip: we booked the swim out suites which we would do again.
