“Beautiful location, friendly staff, relaxing vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

Dos Ceibas is an amazing place to stay. The staff is very friendly, accommodating and helpful. The rooms are clean, all of them have a hamac in front, and the beautiful beach is just a few meters away. The food at the posada is good and cheaper than in other beachfront hotels.
We stayed in 2 different rooms. The first one, Zarigueya has a small double bed and very tiny bathroom, but cheaper than the other rooms and still quite convenient. The second room was actually a studio and was a must. It is located on the second floor, so you have the head in the trees, with a large balcony, the room is spacious and clear, the bed is huge and the bathroom is larger and more convenient. If you have the choice, definitely opt for the studio.
I would definitely recommend anyone to stay at Dos Ceibas, as long as what you are looking for is a relaxing, quiet vacation. It gets very dark at night on this part of the beach and there is not much activity after 10pm.
Also, the staff at Dos Ceibas can arrange car or bike rentals for you. And they have a lot of places to recommend, either for activities (cenotes...) or restaurants.

Spent 2 -1/2 weeks with 2 friends February 2013, We loved our 'Crocodillo' bungalow, just renovated with shower facility now inside. Lounging on outside hammock was a treat. I woke with the birds before dawn & made the 2 mins walk down to beach to watch breathtaking sunrises. Walked or run along the beach. What a start to each day!! All the staff were most attentive, helpful & friendly. We ate in most of the time. I often spied my lunch/dinner arriving with local fisherman & would put my name on it!! Mojito cocktails the best in town!! Local therapists can be called in for massages etc - the hot stones treatment by Xeu to die for! I discovered horse riding in nearby Yaxmuul (30 mins by taix 40 mins by 2 'collectivos) Fabien (mgr) has the details. Horses in good condition & well looked after. Circle dancing on friday evenings. Yoga etc Cant wait to go back .........

Room Tip: Explain to the Manager, Fabien, your requirements & he can help select your bungalow for you. T...

Absolutely loved Dos Ceibas! My room was the best part of the whole experience (the mariposa room or room #1) the closest to the ocean on the second floor, it was heaven. The staff was super sweet and accommodating too. Rustic and peaceful, right up my alley. Going back again next year for sure.

We stayed at Dos Ceibas for 1 week from 23rd January 2013.
The room we stayed in was very clean and had a small kitchen attached to it.
The location was fantastic, on the beautiful beach of Tulum.
Food in the small open air restaurant was tasty and filling and breakfasts were great.
There was a great cocktail menu too and a happy hour which made a great start to an evening out.
Staff were very attentive and helpful. A big Thank you to Luca in particular.
The town of Tulum is about a 20 min drive and taxis are about £5-£6 each way, but there are so many shops, cafes and restaurants to choose from it is worth it to get supplies and a taste of Tulum street life.
I would highly recommend Dos Ceibas to others and we both really enjoyed our stay there.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 6 which was upstairs and had a kitchen attached. The bungalows are at ground leve...

Wonderful place to get away while traveling the Yucatan. To some a little pricey and to others a bit rustic but the little extra cost and location won hands down over the cheap places in town or their expensive neighbors on the beach. Not exactly handicapped accessible and perhaps a little more 'clothing optional' for a US family. Fabian and staff treated us lke family. Can't comment on yoga, spas, or treatment as we spent our time visiting the ruins at Coba and Tulum, Tulum city, and basking on the beach for the three days and two nights we were there. There were non guests who parked themselves on the beach but were not an incovenience to our sunrise watching and long walks. Transport no problem as we had our own car. Cabs are everywhere on the strip but you should get assistance fro the office and allow transit time.

We stayed at Dos Ceibas for 4 nights. It was ok but the place left us confused. It reminded me of some of the accommodation on offer at yoga retreats, very shanti om, but then also seemed to want to cater to the mid-market non-yogic client (especially when you were paying upwards of $100 for a basic room in the high - but not high high- season). We paid for a "bungalow" but got a room in a large bungalow (containing 6 rooms). The furnishings were very mismatch so there didn't seem to be much thought re design, quite a mix of clientele, and slow service (although it was friendly). All in all it was acceptable but I would have classed this as slightly above average budget accommodation. Owners could also make more of an effort to make all guests feel welcome rather than just their entourage of people staying in the resort.

A friend and I were looking for a place to spend the last few days of our 2 week trip to Mexico and it was exactly what we were looking for - right on the beach with access to massage on the premises when needed. It was rustic and charming but with all the amenities - even indoor plumbing and hot water! We stayed in one of the apartments and It has small kitchen area, comfy beds, fan and room was cleaned every day. The staff are wonderful and go out of their way to ensure you relax. Definitely recommend this for friends, couples or families looking for laid back place to relax.
