We stayed for two nights over the Christmas break. We had already read the mixed reviews but thought we'd give the Posada Margherita a chance... don't! A waste of money when there are so many beautiful places to stay along Tulum beach. The main issue we had with this under-average hotel was its owners. Were they forced to open? It seems as if they hate their job and therefore hate the guests for making them work. I suggest they return to Italy and let the beauty of Mexico and its people shine through.

It seems that rudeness and 'be thanful for what you get' is the motto of Posada Margherita. We stayed for two nights and were practically told to thank the staff for having done us a favor. The restaurant is sad, and please, please don't be talked intop eating the 'salt fish', it tastes like the smell of an african port. Crap for what you pay. You're better off staying at any of the other hotels on the Tulum strip, or act like you Italian and maybe they'll treat you better, that or you'll understand they're rude sense of humour.

We have just come back from a beach holiday in Mexico, spent in Posada Margherita in Tulum.
The place really has the perfect location for a lazy beach holiday - but if you want to, you can also get around. We had a car rented and therefore easily the possibility to combine sightseeing with lazing in the shadow on the beach in front of Posada Margherita. And the beach is absolutely wonderful: miles and miles of white sand and water in different shades of blue. Even though it was the beginning of high season, you can have the beach almost to yourselves at times - not only early in the morning.

The rooms at Posada Margherita are comfortable, nice, clean and not dim at all as mentioned in another review. The electricity in the place is generated by solar power, so the walkways are lit by candles and torches in the evening - but the rooms do have electric lights as well as candles.

We can absolutly not agree with the reviews complaining about the staff being arrogant or only friendly to Italians. Both Federico and Alessandro as well as the local staff were always friendly, helpful and could be approached at any time - and we are not Italian. They helped other guests organizing day trips and had a friendly word for everyone during our 5 day stay there.

The food was absolutely great and always freshly prepared. Okay, there are cheaper places around - but then you are free to choose where you go for your meals. Also, dinner always included a free Italian antipasti dish, which is a nice touch.
It is true that there is no real menu and prices are not advertised - but you can always get an update on what you have spent so far. Which is a good idea as the guys can only accept cash (in more than one currency).

We absolutely loved our stay: the perfect beach combined with the friendly, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere at Posada Margherita made this a very memorable holiday.

Arrogant staff has no idea what service is, the food is not special at all- similar food can be purchased in any restaurant in the USA for a quarter of the price. The rooms are not special at all and the prices are priced as if it was a hotel in NYC.
When I asked the owner what can I do around here he said nothing much !!

The hotel near by was very helpful and showed us what tours are available.

If you are not a chick in a bikini you will not get any attention from owner
