If you are coming to Tulum, you should stay with Jack and Janet at Posada Luna del Sur. I was there with my husband on our honeymoon and it was perfect!

I've looked at the other posts about this place and I don't know what more compliments I could add. Jack and Janet and the staff are wonderful. The rooms are perfectly SPOTLESS! You will get everything you need at Posada Luna del Sur. I did read someone posted something about noise in the neighborhood. I am a very very light sleeper and I didn't have a problem at all. We did hear music in the evenings and it was nice to hear Mexican music, but it stopped by bedtime. I wouldn't have considered it noisy at all, and I'm pretty sensitive. We stayed in several other towns/hotels in our trip and this, by far, was the BEST experience in Mexico.

Last comment: Jack and Janet are offering breakfast in the morning and it is lovely and delicious. Also a great time to ask them questions about the area. Janet set us up with a GREAT tour of Sian Ka'an. That was the highlight of our trip.

Happy journeys!

We have just returned from a week in Tulum´s POSADA LUNA DEL SUR and it was simply incredible!!!
Since the moment we walked in, Janet was there to take care of us. A superb service and personal attention. Janet makes you feel right at home. In our room we found everything we needed: Spotless rooms with very comfortable beds, hot water, fridge, cable TV, fan, air conditioning, safety deposit box, and if that wasn´t enough, continental breakfast ans wireless internet!!!!... could not have asked for more.
The next time we visit Tulum, we would definitely stay at POSADA LUNA DEL SUR again.

I'm rating this highly as the hotel itself is absolutely wonderful but for us there were a lot of noise issues with the neighborhood.

Janet's hospitality is wonderful and she went out of her way to make us feel welcome and give us great recommendations. The location is really convenient for restaurants and everything you might want from a town. It was easy to jump on a bus and get most places we wanted to such as the ruins.

The rooms were spotlessly clean and very comfortable and the owners clearly take great care and pride in this place.

I hate to say anything negative when the management clearly puts so much hard work into this place but be warned, this is a noisy neighborhood with loud music from a restaurant half a block away, barking dogs and to our horror, roosters that can make a lot of noise half the night. Maybe this is just a typical Mexican experience but it did really affect our comfort level as we were there for more than one night. I hope Janet can manage to resolve that problem as I can imagine it's a problem for a hotel owner.

To end on a positive note, we really appreciated the breakfast that they now provide (tea/coffee/juices/delicious pastries - a perfect way to start the day.

Stayed with Janet the first week of August 2006. She´s very accomodating and will fill you in on where to eat, where to go, and how much a taxi should cost- all according to your desires(english or spanish). The hotel was an excellent introduction to Mexico for those trying to ease their way in. It´s almost in a "real" mexican neighborhood yet right off the main drag. It´s narrower than you might think but if you´re on the bottom floor you have access to a little patio and bananas. There is hot water, a fridge, and fans- but you´re in Mexico- can´t have all three on at once. You have to turn on the water heater 10 minutes before showering- guess what folks- that´s how the middle class mexican family I live with now does it! and then you turn it off. and it gets HOT. Love the beautiful colorful pillows and the very clean sheets and animal designed towels. You´re not on the beach- but a cab ride away- settle on the price before getting in. Go snorkeling- in the sea and a cenote- both must dos.

“Amazing time”

My wife and I wanted to go to Tulum for a while as everyone around us recomend it highly. We were trying to look on the internet to find the perfect place to stay. As we had a car we didn't need to stay at the beach and were pretty open to stay in the town. After a week of exploring the web and reading review about all the hotels you can find there, we decided to stay at Posada (after all it has the best review you can find from far!).
After booking our room we emailed the amazingly friendly owners to know a little more about the area. They always got back to us very fast and provided some very usefull information.
Once there we wanted to go snorcling, also visit the area and see some places that were not advertised everywhere. Once again Janet and Jack were very helpful and allow us to discover places we would never had seen had we stayed in a standard hotel. Jesus - the house keeper - was doing a great job, our beautiful room was always super clean and the AC working perfectly!
The last day I got sick (sun allergy) and - as often when you are far from home - didn't know what to do... Jack (biologist) could not only tell me how to feel better (very important when you are on vacation) but he also gave me some medicine to feel better! We were so well treated there it was almost abnormal.
We know we will go back to Tulum and we know where we are going to stay : Posada.
Janet, Jack and Jesus, we would like to thank you once more for giving us the opportunity to fully enjoy our so well deserved (and so rare) vacation, without you we wouldn't have fallen in love with Tulum.
Thanks, thanks, thanks!
XOXO
Emmanuel and Lynda
