“Nice condo-type hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2014

We stayed here a couple nights on a trip down the entire Yucatan from Cancun to Chetamal. It is not on the beach, but the rooms are well-appointed with full kitchen and dining area. The A/C blows cold and it is a nice retreat from being on the hot beach all day. They have a nice little pool and the staff are very genuine and friendly. The facility is very clean and well-kept. I definitely has a European feel to it which really works well with the whole Tulum vibe. If you stay, you are within walking distance to all of the little store on the main road and there are some great little authentic restaurants nearby that make fantastic food. There is a supermercado nearby also so you can buy food and beer and store it in the large refrigerator in your room. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay at a nice clean place off the beach.

Room Tip: There are chickens living nearby and they are up at the crack of dawn... and they are letting you kn...

We spent five nights at Palms Tulum, and were very happy with our stay. Originally we wanted to stay at a hotel at the beach, but as we booked only a couple of weeks in advance afordable hotel rooms at the beach were hard to find. However, with the free bikes and the nice cycle lane to the beach, the location was no stress. The surroundings of the hotel is not so charming, but is practical with supermarkets, ATMs, restaurants etc. nearby. The room is a fully equiped flat, terrific standard and very spacious. The staff was very helpful and they all spoke English very well.

We actually had a full-service apartment. Very nice and clean. It's a new hotel and small. Very friendly and efficient staff. They handled any one of our very small concerns. We couldn't get the bedroom TV to work, but they fixed they problem quickly. There is a good pool to jump into after a day at the beach. They provide free bicycles and beach towels whenever you want. The beach is about 30 minutes ride, which was fun and good exercise. No hills! There are good stores within walking distance to get whatever you might need. We cooked our own breakfast and lunch most days. We went to dinner in the near vicinity or a quick and easy cab ride. The food is excellent across the board. What can I say? It's a nice place to be. The balcony is a nice place to hang out. I would definitely go back/recommend this place to friends.

Room Tip: Request a high floor.

I spent about $90 a night to stay in this hotel 'room'. What I got was a full apartment complete with kitchen and full sized fridge. It served as an excellent headquarters from which to conduct exploration expeditions along the Riviera Maya. No complaints whatsoever regarding the room and staff who were most helpful however I drove for around 45 minutes in Tulum just to find the place. It is a newer hotel so not many people knew where it was. Actually nobody knew where it was including the cabbies. The other drawback is that it's not directly on the beach, but you're easily within striking distance and they have partnerships with hotels on the beach so that you get free parking and heavy discounts on everything. Unless you insist on staying directly on the beach, stay here. You are actually very close to a great seafood restaurant that all the locals throng too and it is great food for peanuts. (It's at the end of the main strip)

Room Tip: Really a great place. Get the top floor if you can

Firstly the hotel is extremely well kept and immaculately clean. The apartments are a great size with lots of comfortable features and useful facilities. A really large comfortable bad makes for a great nights sleep (see below) and huge closet space too. Very modern and spacious bathroom with free quality toiletries.
The staff were all amazing, really helpful and super friendly. Assisted in us getting to the best spots in the region and also helped translate when the hire car got delivered. They would bend over backwards to assist and we actually felt like losing good friends when we left!!
The only down sides were noise and proximity to town; one night (out of 6) we were disturbed by a noisy disco nearby. Plus there is currently building work being carried out next door so make sure you get a room on the other side (although they don't start until 8.30am). Central town is a 5-10 minute walk away and there's not yet any decent footpath to get there, you have to walk alongside the road.
Overall I would thoroughly recommend the Palms Luxury in Tulum. Best to stay in/near town and travel to the beach by the free bicycles on offer.

The hotel is perfectly located between Tulum and the beach and cenotes. Best feature is the fully equipped apartments you are getting for the price. Making your own breakfast is priceless. Free bikes, very friendly service!
The pool is a big small, but hey, you're in Tulum! go to the beautiful beach instead! who really needs a pool.

My husband and I decided to stay for a few days in Tulum town as our beach hotel was fully booked for the weekend (because of a wedding). I was a little reluctant to leave the beach but Palms Tulum exceeded all my expectations. As you go into the hotel, it is like stepping into an oasis of calm from the hot street. The hotel is very smart, spacious, clean and with all mod cons you could want. In addition, there was free coffee, biscuits and mineral water available at all times in the reception. Our room was bigger than the flat we used to live in with a kitchen and large sitting room (including tv, dvd player and lots of dvds to borrow for free at reception). But best of all was the gorgeous and extremely clean swimming pool and pretty grounds which, after a hot day wandering around Tulum town, were wonderful. The other great thing is that the hotel is at the right end of Tulum town if you want to go to the beach, ie it's a short bike ride away (almost all on a designated cycle lane) and the hotel has plenty of bikes (in very good condition) for you to use free of charge. At the end of our 3 nights at Palms Tulum, I was reluctant to leave! In summary, a great base if you want to explore Tulum town and beach without paying the higher prices of some of the hotels at the beach.
