The Beach Tulum is still an excellent hotel with some GREAT features. First, the staff are awesome. Everyone from the front desk personnel (Roberto, and the rest), the restaurant personnel (especially Rosita), the man that works cleans the pool is very friendly and efficient, and the maids and housekeepers. They staff at this resort make it a great place. Many of them try to remember your name and use it frequently. The pool is still very nice, actually the foliage is much nicer than last year and the deck and seating is great and looks great. The rooms are pretty much the same as last year with the addition of a "foot bath" thing at the front entrance and back. The rooms were cleaned nicely everyday with nice towel art (some of which I've never seen before). They do need one at the entrance from the bathroom as that is the entrance that we used. It is an extremely safe place and we NEVER looked the room. We did put our valuables in the room safe. The breakfasts, included with the room, were very good. I love the eggs benedict and they were very willing to work with my wife who needed some special dietary requests. The staff, especially Rosita, remembered our orders each morning and that made it very easy. The coffee service in the lobby was a new addition from last year and was a big plus.
One of the most amazing things happened one night. The staff went room to room getting guest to come out for the release of baby turtles. They gave each one of us a turtle after teaching us how to properly hold and let us release in into the ocean. That has to be good for mucho Karma points for both the hotel and the guests. The hotel takes the protection of turtles VERY SERIOUSLY.
There were a few minor issues that we encountered that really didn't affect the overall review of the hotel but may be important to some. For a couple of days the northern pool had some maintenance issues and the water were turning very green, but after a few days (they probably fixed the pump) it cleared up nicely. No big deal as the south pool never had any problems. It is actually amazing how nice and clean the pools are. The second issue with the pool is that there were a couple of under 18's in the pool. Not really a big deal and not an issue, but the hotel does have an 18+ policy. We stayed in room 201 the farthest south, and it was not "the nicest room," it was just like room 205 that we had last year. One issue is that right outside the bathroom door is a water spigot that the maids use to fill the buckets for cleaning. You never really know when they appear and if you happen to be stepping out of the shower, it can be a bit of an extra surprise (for you or them????). We stayed in 205 last year and it was much more private. Now, for the air conditioning. It really wasn't an issue having the air on from 7-7, however, it always went off at 6:45 and didn't always kick on at 7. Some of the time the a/c really wasn't necessary at all, including during the day. One issue with the staff did arise was quite offputting. A male staff member tried to sell me a couple of Mayan necklaces one day as I was heading back to my room. I turned him down and didn't feel pressured, but I didn't expect this from the hotel staff.
One suggestion for the hotel is that they get more beach towels. They ran out everyday and they didn't have beach towels for guests who checked in later in the afternoon. They just gave us regular room towels. Seems like that should be an easy problem to solve.
Would we return to The Beach Tulum? Yes. Is it still an excellent hotel? Yes. Are the staff some of the best we have experienced in Mexico? YES. Do we wish we were still there? YES.
Try to avoid room 201. Get the most northern rooms in the Deluxe Superior section.

Thanks so much for sharing your Beach experience at our resort and all the great suggestions you mentioned. We are very happy you decided to come back for a second stay with us and be mesmerized by Tulum's Nature and Magic. You stayed with us during the turtle nesting and hatching season so this really is a breathtaking experience.
Of course, we will reorganize our laundry service to have enough beach towels available, this should be easily solved.
Regarding the teenagers in the pool, it is true that we have a +18 policy however our adjacent sister property is a family friendly Hotel, so in the future we will pay more attention that no teenagers or children mistakenly have access to the pool. Thank you for your feedback on this.
We hope to have the pleasure to welcome you back for a third time in the future.
