“Great Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2014

I had wanted to go to BBC for years and finally did it. I was going to go solo and ended up with 2 friends. I met several solo travelers and would definitely go back by myself. The resort is rustic and will meet your needs if you are looking for rustic chic. If you want the 4 Seasons, Tulum/Amansala is not the place for you. BBC is great if you are looking for a vacation with an emphasis on fitness and good eating. Plus, you will meet a great group of women and perhaps a stray man or 2. The food was amazing. Fresh, wonderful, and perfect. There was beer, wine, and cocktails if you wanted -- you will not feel deprived. The beach workouts were tough but mainly because of the heat. The yoga and pilates not so tough. The cardio workouts later in the day were pretty hard mainly because you've already exercised and the heat makes things more intense. If you do not like bugs, avoid Dec. Jan and Feb.

Amansala is RUSTIC, so do not go expecting the Four Seasons. Frankly, that's what made it perfect for me--windows open, breeze blowing, simple, chic decor, NO tv's, a very serene setting. You don't have to be signed up for Bikini Boot Camp to stay here, but it makes it SOOOO much fun! I was one of the two oldest at 53, and was able to keep up with all the activity. I only exercise an hour a day at home, so I was a little concerned, but the exercise was geared to all levels, and the instructors were lovely strong, young men and women who were encouraging and happy. Our group had a wide variety of fitness levels, and I think everyone enjoyed it. For some, it was kickstarting a new routine of exercise and healthy eating. The food was simple and delicious! The meals were large and satisfying. Our group of 20 women and one stray guy really enjoyed each others company. I went with a friend, but you could easily go solo and make friends. The staff is warm and hard working. I am going back!

Room Tip: I stayed in a room right on the beach on the second floor and it was blissful!

First of all this was just for a day since we where here in tulum to celebrate a friends party. I've stayed in pretty much all the hotels in tulum but this one is by far the worst hotel ever.
first of all
STAFF- very rude and stuck up(ex. this guy was mexican and so am I, AND HE INSISTED IN HAVING THIS AMERICAN ACCENT WHILE SPEAKING IN SPANISH)
ROOMS - BY FAR THE WORST, don't stay in M, because you will not get a nice sleep and the bikini booty camp will wake you up.
Just don't stay you cannot even shower properly since it barely comes water out of the shower.

Room Tip: If this is you only option don't stay in the main area.

Who knew working out 6 hours a day could be so much fun? I left bootcamp feeling 10x stronger - physically and emotionally. Everyday was a gift. Just pack more than one workout outfit for each day or laundry detergent to get through the week! And there's no air conditioning, flushing toilet paper, or locks on the doors...if these things make you nervous, find another hotel. I felt safe and comfortable the whole time!

Amazing location (Amansala has one of the best parts of the beach, and one of the widest which means you get sunshine for longer than other places on the beach)!

Food is so delicious! Every single meal was great and when I got back home I bought their cookbook!

Bikini bootcamp program offers a very nice variety of classes through the day and the trainers are great! You can really tailor your day to your fitness level and personal preferences.

Staff are great, and really try to help with whatever you need.

Little things which really make a difference : Amansala uses purified water for showers, drinking water is available everywhere so you can drink as much as you want without worrying about buying water, Amansala also has lots of bikes available so you dont need to worry about renting a bike in town, they accept cards and amex (surprisingly, most of Tulum operates on cash only policy including some hotels despite the high prices), power outlets in the room, great toiletries (mayan honey!).

Room Tip: Rooms vary in size, quality and price. They are definitely on the shabby chic side but some ocean fr...

This was my second bikini bootcamp at Amansala. It's such a special place, with beautiful energy... a life changing experience. My group of girlfriends were looking for a spiritual, healthy & energizing place to spend a week in Tulum. Amansala could not have been a better for for us. Melissa the owner and All her team made us feel at Home. I can't wait until we visit Amansala again. The food is delicious, the workout and yoga classes are excellent, the spa treatments are unique ( I recommend the Mayan healing) and the view is spectacular.

At least up there in the top ten. So glad I chose to go to help myself feel better. Staff-amazing
Other participants-amazing.
Want to return ? 100% yes!!

One woman I met was on her 7 th trip to BBC and I can understand why. All aspects were just perfect. It's not a drill sergeant style camp. It's a glorious reminder of how amazing all of us are. Yes I was sweating everyday and pushing myself but there was always a smile on my face
