Nice enough place with salubrious beach front cabanas from 600 upwards. Not a spot (not even a speck) on sister hotel Diamante K further towards Tulum which is without doubt the coolest place to stay in Tulum (see reviews) occupying a far better location and considerably more vibey and laid back. It's identikit, but having eaten in the Restaurants at both, and sampled the cocktails Diamante just do it all a whole lot better (with exception of the Coco Esmerelda which was (sorry) "historic"). Diamante also have Cabanas from under 400 (shared bath) so those on a budget can also enjoy. Pay a bit more (around 700) and you're in for a real treat.

Don't book though, it just doesn't work at the moment, and all the books seem to have the wrong phone number.

I made a reservation via e mail and got a confirmation by daydreams.
When i got there they were not aware of my reservation, They checked on the phone and told me i was right, but daydreams "forgot" to let them know... But to their credit i have to say that they were very nice to us, found us another room for the night and then we were back there for 5 days. The comfort is basic , electricity at night only, humid at night, but there is hot water. The beach is beautiful and very quiet.
Despite it all, i loved it, and would go back, but i suggest you skip the internet reservation and call them directly ( which by the way will cost you about $2o less a night!!)

I made a reservation via email at Esmeralda-k, Tulum in order to hold certain cabanas. I received a confirmation from Maya insuring the cabanas were available November 18-22, 2003. Needless to say, when we arrived at the cabanas there were security guards and the sign was covered with palm leaves. Esmeralda-K was closed and no one had and explanation. They would not let us enter the premises. We then went to Diamante-K to see if we could at least stay there (it is the same owner) and it too was closed - no answers, no apologies. We have been to Tulum before and understand and enjoy the laid back attitude, but this was a holiday weekend and most of the cabanas were full. Thank goodness we rented a car or I don't know how we would have been able to check out all the cabanas we had to in order to check availability. I heard they were filming "Temptation Island" at both sites - don't you think they would have known this and could have at least sent an email? We did find accomadations, but will definitely never plan to stay at either cabana or recommend it.
