Akin is fantastic and not well known but it certainly will be soon. They have a large palapa thatched restaurant/club, a three bedroom beach house and are currently building 4 new cabanas rooms and 2 hotel rooms. I think they will soon be one of the finest places to stay and eat on the beach! They promise to keep there prices reasonable which is not the norm lately on Tulum beach. My husband and I with a few friends really enjoyed the food on the opening night of the restaurant, which was simple Mexican fare but had enough flare to make it special. I had shrimp sauteed in a honey rosemary sauce. We have traveled in Tulum since 1999 and although there are restaurants everywhere there are sadly not too many good ones. And on the beach almost no restaurants serve reasonably priced food (I mean come on this is not Miami Beach!). So Akin is really filling a needed niche. Highly recommended!
