I knew that heading over to the pricey hotel area of Tulum beach would be expensive, so there were no surprises there. I was feeling a bit isolated in my camping area with no electricity and decided to splurge. That being said, it was a nice experience. There was a little cuban band, nice lighting, and good service. I ordered a vegetarian burrito and it was truly delicious.
I'm not sure how the prices at Mateo's compare with other restaurants in the hotel area as I was on a backpacking trip and generally avoided places where one must pay tourist prices.
