Description: What if you could wash ashore on a beautiful tropical island with a group of friends and build yourself a cozy little settlement of colourful decorated, wooden houses right there on the beach? What if a local Mama would prepare lunches and dinners with local ingredients fresh from the sea and the gardens, serving it in the little village square? What if you could create your own electricity and water supply and be completely self-sufficient? Wouldn't that be a fairy tale come true? We thought so, and so we bought a piece of beautiful beach land in Tulum, Mexico and created our dream. It is this dream that we want to share with you. Our own little magical island of authenticity, La Luna. La Luna is build like a tiny little village: Private, elegant, warm and friendly with a nice central gathering place where you can enjoy our local fresh dishes with our other guests. Feel like Robinson Crusoe, Christopher Columbus or Captain Dale on a tropical shore with everything you need to feel the magic of life: fresh air, blue skies, turquoise water, fresh local dishes, friendly people and a lot of sun. Come to magical La Luna and enjoy a fairy tale come true!

“Excellent service, great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

Unfortunately, we were unable to stay at La Luna (it was our first choice!), because it was fully booked over the Thanksgiving holiday. However, we were enticed by the gorgeous street lighting and decided to have our Thanksgiving dinner at La Estrellas, the on-site restaurant. The atmosphere was cozy and unique - we felt at home the moment we walked in. The food was very tasty and prepared by cooks who obviously had culinary training. The service was personal and super friendly. Thank you Kuamy and Cesar - you did a great job of hosting us on an intimate dinner. We will not forget it!

“Tasty option in a very cool space”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

This was our second trip to Tulum. We stayed both times at Cabanas la Luna, the home of this restaurant. On our first trip we weren't overly impressed with the food, and only ate one dinner here. This time around, we decided to give it another try, and we were pleased that we did. We ate several meals here -- breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The meals are pretty simple, but consistently well done and tasty, at very fair prices. The staff at the bar are friendly, easy to be with, and can steer you to some new local tastes on the liquor trail if you let them. The space is very cute, with seating inside and out. Closes a bit early -- 9:00 o'clock or so, but you'll probably want to get there early anyway since you'll either be going to bed early to catch the sunrise, or going out afterwards. If you want something light, try the Caribbean salad -- tasty and just the right size. Also, terrific fish tacos at lunchtime. If they have a lobster special, grab it -- they buy the lobster right off the boat from the beach -- couldn't be fresher.

We stayed at Cabanas La Luna for a week in October, which is where the restaurant is. The food was fantastic, everything was home made and very fresh. We ate almost every meal at Las Estrellas because it was so good.

“Always a great choice!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

We have had the good fortune to dine at Las Estrellas several times, and are always pleased with the food and service. Their Sandwich de Pescado is wonderful. No surprise since they bake their own bread! The wait staff is always friendly and accommodating and it is quite obvious that the management pays great attention to detail. The spectacular views of the Caribbean will take your breath away. We will return!

“Great on-site restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

We stayed at La Luna, and had the good fortune of having Las Estrellas on site. We ate lunch there several times, everything we tried was very good (quesadillas, fish tacos, fajitas, fish sandwich, salads, etc.). Their dinner options are absolutely fantastic though. Had the grouper, the pesto pasta, and the steak...all were better than 99.9% of the meals I eat in the States.
