Xi Cho is a lovely little place at the end of Tulum's ocean front strip run by a really sweet couple German and Nena. The lounging area is nice and quiet, the house is simple but with everything you need, and it's located next to a great restaurant called Dos Ceibas. We loved it and hope to go back someday!

We stayed eight nights at Xi-cho and had the most wonderful beach experience. Xi-cho is locared very close to the reserved area of Tulum beach . There are very few people to be seen about and get the feling you are on a private beach.Xi-cho's beach front is truely magnificent clean clear water ,free of rocks and sea weed and sun lounges and hamocks in the garden space. German and Nena the owners who run the place are the most charming host and hostess .They made us feel very welcome and were great with travel information.

I can only confirm what was said in the reviews before. Xi-cho has one of the best beach strips in Tulum as it is situtated at the end of the Zona Hotelera where the natural preserve starts. German and Nena, the owners of this small hotel, are extremly friendly and do everything to make you feel at home e.g. using their bike, snorkeling gear, plates from the kitchen, fridge space and rides into town.
We highly recommend Xi-cho to everyone who wants a peaceful, personal and affordable place in Tulum.

Xi Cho is located near the end of the strip of cabanas and it is often overlooked. However, this is one of the best stretches of the beach. The beach in front of Xi Cho is cleaner than other parts of the strip, without any large rocks or washed up seaweed and people rarely walk by. It is run by an amazing couple that did everything to make our stay perfect. The room we stayed in was a studio with a full bathroom and a porch that faces the ocean. It was perfect for our needs, because all we did was hang out on the beach which was only footsteps from our room. If we were hungry, there were great places to eat nearby and the couple gave us breakfast every morning. Xi Cho is so amazing that we want others to know especially those that really want to get away.

We made our return trip to Xi-cho in Feb 2010. As noted in previous review, we recieved great service and were welcomed like part of the family. German and Nena are lovely, hospitable hosts. We enjoyed our morning talks over coffee, fruit and sweet bread. The location cannot be beat. We have visited the Yukatan yearly over the past 9 years. Both years, we had an ocean view room with a balcony where we enjoyed sunrises and took our lunch. The chairs and palapas in the beach area are great. Nena provides a complementaty Yoga session daily which I took advantage of. We will return next yaer and possibly many years to come....we have found a home away from home:)

If you are looking for simple, clean, and friendly accomodations on a budget, or are simply seeking encounters with genuinely good people, Xi-Cho is your place! Wanting to seek out our most ideal beach accomodations, my patner and I did not make reservations ahead of time, but rather started our vacation by viewing and dscussing roughly 20 hotel and cabana options in Zona Hotelera of Tulum. Xi-Cho was hands down the best we found for the price with some similar accomodations costing up to $70 more.
German and Nena are a sweet, semi-retired couple who run these accomodations with a bed and breakfast-like feel. We were here in March for 2 nights and were welcomed with open arms. For a "Garden-View" room it was only $60/night and the room was clean, fairly spacious, and had warm shower water, though water pressure is sparse and it does take a few minutes to warm up. Electricity is available from 5:30-10:30 pm and lanterns are provided for use after dark. Beds available vary between rooms. We initially viewed a room with 2 single beds, but our hosts catered to our comfort and preference by ultimately providing a room with a double bed. The bed was very firm, but fairly comfortable.
A small breakfast of fresh fruit, bread, and coffee is included. The hosts embody a "what's mine is yours philosophy" and happily provide a small amount of refrigerator space and kitchen items if you prefer to dine in. We were also eagerly offered aquatic gear for our use. We borrowed snorkel gear here to check out the cenotes which saved us an additional $20-$30.
Xi-Cho is located at the end of Zona Hotelera so a rental car is helpful if you plan on traveling beyond the beach, though taxis are available.
The beachfront is gorgeous here. Lawn chairs and hammocks are available for use. The location, away from more tourist-dense areas, left us feeling that we often had this beautiful stretch of beach all to ourselves. When desired, beach clubs with night life and rental options such as kite-boarding are an easy 10-30 minute walk up the beach.
German and Nena were helpful, genuine, friendly, and treated us like family during our time at Xi-Cho. We would not hesitate to recommend these accomodations to other travelers.
