Beautifully designed with a feel of the jungle and the sea. The grounds are fairly small which means the rooms are close but the jungle is all around you. At the night the smell of burning copal drifts through the trees and gives a mystical feel.
The beach is lovely, white sand and crystal water.
Worth the price.

Finally.... after our many times of visiting BE to hang, eat, and drink we decided to bite the very expensive bullet and stay. Having stayed at three other hotels in tulum and visiting others there is no other hotel that compares by a long shot. The grounds are awesome... during the day u have the jungle vibe and at night the place becomes filled with smoke and lit by tiki torches. The room was pretty great with indoor and outdoor shower, large pool, large outdoor patio area, AC and fan. live music during the day and at night. We really never left this place which is rarity for us. The separate spa facility is great. As a guest they give u a daily one hour pass to use the pools, saunas, etc. They were having a treetop massage special (120 usd) for the month of April so we had a couples massage, mine was good hers was great. It's a must visit but God is it expensive... don't think we would've had the treatments at the regular prices. 4 stars instead of five is because the water went out in our room 4 times which leaves u without toilet and shower but the problems were resolved quickly. The staff is all around good sometimes not great. In my opinion this place is not going to be in most people's price range . some the rooms go for over 1000 usd and our room had gone up to over 600... crazy. They definitely want to keep a certain type of clientele and they are booked solid. Overall amazing.

My boyfriend and I just returned from a week at Be Tulum and we really have nothing bad to say about the property or the area.
If you want to get away from the commercial craziness of Playa del Carmen, Tulum is definitely for you.

Location:
It is toward the end of the hotel area in Tulum but we liked being away from the center of the town which made it quieter. Town is a short bike ride away (maybe 8 min long) or you can easily take a taxi or walk.

Room:
We had a jungle suite room (#3) which had an indoor and outdoor pool as well as outdoor shower - which we loved.
Yes, you can't flush toilet paper in the toilet in Tulum due to the lack of plumbing, but we weren't phased by it after a day - you make it work.
AC worked great and showers had very good pressure and temperature.

Food:
The food was delicious and we were so happy that mostly everything was on the healthy side - definitely go for the tacos in the lettuce wraps for lunch. Portion sizes were perfect in our opinion. We ate dinner at the hotel twice in our week there and breakfast and lunch everyday.
Dinner recommendation: La Onda (Pizza), Gitano, Casa Banana. We did not get to go to Hartwood but being from NYC and being on vacation, dealing with their reservation policy was too much for us (you have to go there at 2pm the day of and wait on a line and hope for a spot) - no thanks.

Beach:
Amazing beach vibe - choice of covered beds or bean bag chairs and blankets which are so nice compared to the usual chairs at resorts.
Waitstaff on the beach was great for water or any other need you may have.

Spa:
Definitely indulge and go to the spa - you get a discount for being a Be hotel guest and the facilities are very cool. Upscale for what you would think would be in the middle of the jungle in Mexico to be honest. The massage I had was so relaxing.

Pool:
Not much of a pool - but honestly you don't need it when you have such an incredible beach.

We walked and biked around all week and thought this was definitely the best choice in the area. I wish it had a better rating on here b/c it really deserves it.

We will definitely be back to Be again.

Spent 1 week, end of March at the Be Tulum with our family, 3 kids aged 13-16. I wouldn't by any means call the Be Tulum a family hotel, but our family had a wonderful stay at the property. We traveled up and down the main Tulum "strip" during our stay and nothing else really even compares to the Be. I think the other reviews on TA were really spot on but I can't express on the great vibe at this hotel- you are really left alone in a peaceful, luxurious setting. I didn't really notice much difference between the different room locations- jungle suites seemed as close to the beach as ocean suites, but to be honest, we were at the beach most of the time as you should be in Tulum. The rooms were very well appointed, great beds, very modern showers for this remote area, and great outdoor showers that were very private. I also would point out per other TA reviews that we DID NOT have any problems with toilets if you go easy on the TP. My only complaint would be the small, impossible to open (I still have blisters) water bottles in the rooms- they should probably offer some different alternatives- but we ended up getting cheap large bottles from a small grocery store down the block each night on the way home. The property has beautiful paths leading to the beach- little signs along the way like "breathe" and "relax" hanging from the trees were a little "W" for my taste, but arriving at the beach makes up for it. Beautiful sitting area on the beach with both shaded lounges and chairs were our home for most of the trip. There is also a very small pool to cool off in, but it didn't seem to be used too much. I definitely would mention that the food is on a different level at this hotel- a lot of people mention that you must try Zamas for food, but I think they are on truly different levels and BE has to have some of the best breakfast and lunch selections in the area. Presentation is also beautifully done and the staff respects the low key vibe of the hotel but is also very efficient. Breakfasts were included each day and it was a favorite part of our morning. There are a few board games, paddle ball sets etc to take to the beach but this is not a hotel with overwhelming activities- it works for the right age kids who can chill, but if your kids need constant stimulus, its the wrong place. And it should be noted that kids have to be 12 and over, and the crowd is primarily couples at this property. Daniel and especially Daniella at the front desk were great with ideas once you struck up conversation- but once again if you are looking for high end ultra planning concierge service this is not the place. BE is for a very relaxed, luxury vacation where you just want to enjoy good food, great beach, and some downtime. BE is expensive, but you are getting access to the best hotel in the area and a great resort. My biggest recommendation is bring PESOS- you might not want to leave BE for food but there are some great restaurants on the Tulum strip and ATMs seem to have a lot of issues here- and while they love US$, you get ripped off on the conversion rate at restaurants. Most restaurants are cash only since their are few land lines and internet is spotty. WIFI worked well at BE for non streaming things, even down on the beach. Really loved our trip.

There's nothing more to say. This place is absolutely incredible. Everything about BeTulum from the second you enter the property until the second you don't want to leave is amazing about this place. restaurant was delicious, the service is impeccable, amenities were top notch and the entire resort is beautiful. It's secluded beach is beyond beautiful and the staff was beyond amazing. They only thing I can say more is that you have to go, there no place like it. There are no kids which added to the perfect affect od getting away for some peace and quite, lol. I Highly recommend and will definitely return!

Tom

Room Tip: Stay in one of the beach front villas, there amazing!

We loved this place so much when having lunch that we came back for dinner the same night. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food. All dishes were fresh and exceptional in the way they were prepared. We tried the fried calamares, warm salmon, the fish of the day, shrimps and octopus and can honestly say that it was one of the best restaurants we tried during our two weeks stay in Mexico. The hotel seemed lovely too.

A lovely place where you can have lunch or dinner, the feet in the sand. Incredible attention to details both in terms of decoration and food. Actually the lunch was so nice that we went back the same evening for dinner. Difficult to make a choice between calamares, fish, shrimps, tacos and all the rest but do not worry, everything is just perfect! Friendly staff as well. We did not stay at the hotel but the area seemed awesome.
