“Perfect Honeymoon hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

My husband and I stayed at Las Ranitas for our honeymoon and it was perfect. From the minute we arrived we were welcomed with friendly staff and amazing views.

We stayed in room 7 on the second floor. Whilst a basic room, it was perfect for us - we had purposely not chosen a massive 'all inclusive hotel' as we wanted something boutique. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was spacious. We had a view out onto the beach, through palm trees and were right next to the pool. The room was cleaned every day and we loved getting back to the room to find out which animal had been created with our towels!

The food was delicious. We couldn't fault anything. Every meal was freshly prepared and beautifully presented.

The beach has to be one of the best reasons to stay at Las Ranitas. The circular beds are the most comfortable loungers I have ever been on. The sea is amazingly clear. And the sea turtles at night were a wonder to watch.

I have to say a special mention to the staff for making us feel so welcome. Nothing was too much trouble.

Our honeymoon was amazing and Las Ranitas was paradise. We didn't want to leave and can't wait to return

Just returned to the U.S. from a solo 8,000 mile motorcycle trip through the U.S. and Central America, including Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama. One of the nicest places I stayed on the trip was at Las Ranitas in Tulum. Right on the beach, with waves gently crashing on the shore. Large central thatched roof atrium with bar. Sat surfing the internet, drinking beer, listening to the waves crash on the shore. Light rain on the thatched roof. Insanely nice. My room was separate. Didn't have wifi, but had hot water showers and air conditioning, as I recall. One of the most relaxing places I stayed on my 2 month solo journey. Many thanks. :)

I have stayed at Las Ranitas 9 times. I keep returning for the peaceful environment, grand accommodations and hospitality, the magnificent beach, dining experience and the Eco-friendly atmosphere. Each room is special, there is no disappointment in any selection or price range. Truly one of the best hotels on the beach in Tulum. The staff is friendly, caring and always ready to serve. The food is delicious, the whole visit here to your own piece of paradise is one to remember if you are looking for a wonderful experience! One that will make you want to return again and again...and I do.

Room Tip: Coqui 1, or 2 or the new suites just completed this past year...awesome!!!! I prefer lower levels t...

Las Ranitas is a great option for families in Tulum, but not restricted to those with children. To be honest, we don´t really like the accommodation that much (nothing specific, just not our taste. It is clean and comfortable, but lacks a little style. The two bedroom top floor room with walk in wardrobe is very practical for our family of 5 plus nanny, so we booked that room both times).

However, it is the beautiful deck, beach club, food and the excellent staff what we go there for.

There is also a pool, which was great for our kids on days that the surf was a little rough.

The food is really good and fresh (although probably the most expensive of all the places we have stayed at in Tulum), I have personally witnessed on a few occasions a fishermen´s boat landing on the beach to deliver fresh lobsters and fish.

A note on the staff - we have stayed in various places in Tulum and here we found the service here the quickest, most professional and attentive of all the places we have been to. Nothing is a problem here and staff are willing to bend over backwards to make sure we are happy and that we will return. This is not really uncommon in Mexico, but during our last trip, we stayed in 3 different places, all fantastic, but the Las Ranitas staff stood out high above the others. Every request was attentively listened to, noted and executed as we asked. Our children were so happy there that they cried when we left and they said that they already miss the friendly waiters who took care of them (special mention to Oneil!).

We have stayed there twice and will definitely be back and will recommend to our friends.

Room Tip: For large families, there is a room with two bedrooms (upstairs and with no views), one with double...

I stayed with my husband for 1 week in Tulum for our honeymoon. We were very worried because we read some bad reviews, but our experience in this hotel was simply amazing, the best in Tulum. We had breakfast everyday at the hotel and it was very good. They have healthy choises and delicious juices. We had lunch and dinner and it was very good, as well fresh whole fish.
The beach is one of the most beautiful ones in Tulum.
We love nature and luxury combined so we stayed in one of their new suites.. Wow all the luxury you need A/c, wifi, wonderful view. The decor was neutral, perfect for being in Tulum.
Alfredo the manager was very helpful. He recommended us great places for going out!
I cant wait to go back!

We stayed at Las Ranitas the last week in May of 2013. It was a wonderful experience. The hotel was charming and the location was amazing. White, clean sand, warm, turquoise clear water and very few people on the beach. The staff were all exceptionally friendly. We speak virtually no Spanish, but we did our best and it was obviously appreciated by the staff. We had a lot of fun talking to them. They have a great sense of humor and really seem to enjoy their job. That makes a world of difference. I have to disagree with a previous reviewer. The food was EXCELLENT! Every dish was made fresh and was beautifully presented. It was no more expensive than a good meal out at home would be. The drinks were pricey, but so what? You're on vacation! We had a room right on the beach on the second floor with a breathtaking view from the balcony. There are many different things to do relatively close by. We loved the Coba ruins. We did not get to experience diving off the reef, because it was too rough and windy. You can't control the weather. I wish I could remember everyone's name, but we appreciated Sandy's (Sandra) help more than I can say. ALL of the waitstaff and the housekeeper were wonderful. They helped to make this a memorable trip. If you are the kind of person who likes large, commercial resorts this is not for you. If you are looking for a small, beautiful resort with pristine beaches to walk, great food and the best staff ever - Las Ranitas is it. Alfredo, you're doing a great job. Don't change a thing!

Room Tip: Ocean view is worth it.

stayed there for a wedding and we had a wonderful time.
on the regular days, service in the hotel was very slow and several items are just completely overpriced. Margarita for 200pesos is more than a premium for a nice vacation location. the fact that they charge 15% service charge is somewhat funny because in normal case they would get max 5%... slow and tend to forget...
the wedding was amazing in the place and service during event was great.
beach is fantastic and views like paradise.
place has no aircondition but breeze is fine.
if you are somewhat mobile and you can go to other restaurants I recommend the experience staying there.
