Posada Yum Kin is not located in city center (15 minutes walk) and this is the only disadvantage.

Rooms are charming, patio looks like jungle and ground floor terraces gives you shade at noon. Very good breakfast next to quite big swimming pool (taking into account size of the hotel). Great place to relax in calm and quiet place.

Very pleasant stay at PYK, and lived up to our expectations, having read reviews and checked photos on the web. Rooms clean, garden very atmospheric, breakfast delicious, management and staff very helpful. We had a car which was useful in getting to and from the ruins, beach etc, although we did hire the bikes on one afternoon and evening. We would definitely stay there again and advise others to do so.

I spent a last week visiting Tulum and when I booked the hotel I did not know what to expect but I was extremelly and nicely surprised when I got there!! Me and my family could not have asked for more as we were looking forward to spend some days away from all the noise and stress in the city. The hotel is extremely lovely and it's privacy made us feel like it was a second home for us, different from all the chain hotels I normally stay in, it was all about resting and relaxing. I really need to say that the fact that it is decorated with flowers, plants and mexican regional crafts made it even more special. The staff and management were helpful with directions, services and everything we needed at any time and it would definitely be our choice for our next holidays in the Riviera. Thank you very much for a beautiful time, it was beyond expectations and all we could have asked for, it worths every penny!!!

If you are looking for the all-inclusive resort experience or a boutique hotel on the beach, Tulum has plenty of that. Posada Yum Kin is not that. Come here if you want a sensible, centrally located base of operations to explore the area, reasonably priced. The beach is a 10 to 15 minute drive, same with cenotes (caves with refreshing pools for swimming and snorkeling) and the main drag with plenty of restaurants about 5 minutes away driving. The other major street along the beach, with higher-end restaurants and spas, is 10 minutes away. Not much around Posada, in fact it is very much in the regular folk neighborhood. But inside it has a decent size courtyard pool, very helpful and friendly staff, a good buffet breakfast. We had 3 kids and the rooms were big enough to accommodate us comfortably. You will feel away from the action, because you are, but that is either good or bad, depending on what you seek. We found it nice to get away from all the tourists and come back to a comfortable, cozy hotel and hang out in the courtyard. Bottom line, if you don't plan to spend all day at the hotel this is fine, if the hotel experience is part of what you look for, look elsewhere.
