Edventures advertises that they will give you the best day of your vacation - and they really did live up to this bold statement! The day felt more like we had friends taking us around to the various places, rather than any sort of organized tour - it was great and we had a blast!
The day was very full - we were picked up at our hotel in Playa del Carmen right on time and delivered along with 2 other couples to their shop in Tulum, at the entrance to the ruins. Everyone's itineraries were sorted out - food and beverage requests taken for lunch - and we were given our tickets to go explore the ruins on our own, at our leisure. We were onsite early enough to beat the crowds, which was great. After about 90 minutes, we returned to the Edventures shop where we were outfitted with snorkel gear - including a prescription mask which totally enhanced my partner's experience. We took off with 4 other people, along with our guide, David, and our driver to the cenote, which is a not-to-be-missed experience. Inflatable life jackets are available if you want them which makes it that much easier to just float around and take everything in. David had all sorts of tricks to help out people who were having problems with their masks getting fogged up so everyone got to enjoy this beautiful place. Next stop was Akumal and the sea turtles - again, David kept the group together through the crowds and brought us to the places where we could see turtles, stingrays and lots of fish. Another really fun experience! By this time, we were all getting pretty hungry so after a quick stop at Ed's house to pick up some supplies (nice house Ed!!!!!), we were off to a really nice park in Akumal where a delicious lunch was ready and waiting for us -- along with cold beer which sure tasted good! After devouring lunch, we had a walk around the grounds, there were sculptures along the paths leading to the lagoon where we could snorkel as long as we wanted. Loads of fish to see and it was very relaxing to just float around and check out the fish! Afterwards, there are fresh water showers available and of course, more cervezas! By the time we got back in the van for the drive back to Playa, we were pretty tired out from a very full, very fun day! It was 6pm by the time we returned to the hotel and we sure slept well that night! We would not hesitate to recommend Edventures to anyone! The reasonable price of this day was well worth the money! Thanks again David & Ed!!!
