“Can't say enough about the overall experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2011

I stayed here for 5 days this past February with my girlfriend (now fiance!) and absolutely loved it.

The rooms are simple (no tv, etc) but very nice and comfortable and the location is incomparable -- some of the nicest beach in the world is literally right outside your door. We spent hours lounging on our balcony (complete with hammock) and also on the beach beds that the resort provided.

The staff was great. They brought breakfast to our balcony every morning and we enjoyed lingering over the fresh fruits and coffee. This has become a habit even after the trip. They also did an incredible job of keeping the beach clear of the seaweed which washes up over night.

Can't say enough about the overall experience.

The one tip we would give to folks staying here: think beyond the resort restaurants and eat in the town of Tulum. There are all sorts of cheap corner places that sell authentic food with homemade salsas for a buck a pop. You can walk around town in the evening and try several places and you'll eat better and cheaper than you would at the hotel. (To be clear, the food at the hotel is good, but it wasn't as flavorful or memorable as the local-run places in town.)

Note: the process of booking rooms could definitely be better as some of the negative reviews have pointed out, BUT it was absolutely worth it.

Also, regarding "value" I give the place 4 stars because it's not cheap. Nevertheless, I would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Stay directly on the beach if possible

“Overall Enjoyed”

We stayed in #8 Pasion Marina for 5 nights in July. We chose NV for the friendly staff and the beautiful beach. We were not disappointed. The beach is breathtaking, and the staff provides a nice beach set-up. The porch is also wonderful, and we would sit out and read evenings before heading in to shower and have dinner. We also really enjoyed Casa Banana for breakfast every day, and once for dinner.

Now for the finer points: we definitely did research and were aware that the cabanas are a bit rustic. We go tent camping oat a national seashore in MD with no flush toilets and no hot water available every year for 2 days, 1 night. We thought we would be 100% ok with this. But I have to admit, after the first few nights, we got a bit bothered. Obviously, in the summer with no A/C everything is sort of permanently damp. After 7 nights of this and the salt water showers, we were ready to go. This isn't the hotel's fault. I'm just throwing it out there to encourage people considering these types of accommodations to really think long and hard about their comfort level for certain things.

Electricity wasn't a huge selling point for us... during this trip we stayed at Azulik for two nights - they do not have electricity, but provide lots of candles. We actually liked that better because the lights were so dim at NV it was sort of pointless to have electricity at all. The cabin was furnished with dark-colored woods and a dark, worn bedspread, which made the place a bit dark and dreary. In general, it is very apparent that nothing in the cabana is new. For me, psychologically, this made it feel a bit dirty, even though it actually wasn't. The shower was a bit grungy. The trash can for the toilet paper was way too tiny, and the lid with the flap on it made things complicated.

Don't get me wrong, like I said above this isn't the hotel's fault. I think we would have been happier in one of the Corazon rooms, or a slightly newer hotel with lighter, brighter colors.
We love Tulum and despite the nit-picking above, we really did have a wonderful time! We would return to NV- just to a newer cabana and/or for fewer nights. I would recommend NV to others, but caution them to be realistic about what they are comfortable with.

“Simply one of the Best hotels in Tulum with a feeling of home and caring staff.”

I just home last week from NVR. I have stayed at this hotel many times now-I have stayed in Tulum a total of 32 visits and I always return to Nueva Vida de Ramiro. This hotel sits on one of the best beaches on the Tulum strip with a total of more than 41 acres-it's a feeling of having your own home on the beach with a wonderful and very caring staff-if you need something just ask. I can say that this is my second home away from home-I have traveled all over the world and stayed at many 5 star hotels-this hotel is special because the staff cares about the guests. There is a wonderful and one of the best Steak House restaurants on the property on the jungle side of the road not to disturb the guests of the hotel-wonderful idea- you can always have a meal sent to your room or the beach.-Casa Banana is the name of the restaurant and don't forget it because you'll love it. Ask for Ligia when you have dinner-beautiful woman and great host. I enjoy the Corazon area of this property-to be honest every room is unique and you should look at the website tulumnv.com to get an idea of which room is best for you. I will always return to this magical place as it changes my life and I come home feeling fresh and new and very happy. Please feel free to contact me with any questions about this hotel as I know a lot being a regular guest. It's simply my home and you should try it. NVR has a wonderful location on the beach with many sea turtles laying eggs during turtle season. It's fun to walk in either direction and explore the food and flavor of Tulum Beach. I'm warning you that this is a special place and you will continue to go back once you have stayed here.
I hope you visit this treasure that is Tulum.

“Beautiful!”

We stayed in room 2 (Horizonte Perdido) and it was just perfect. Ocean view as far as you could see from both the balcony and the bed, large bathroom with a salt water shower (it sounds weird but feels amazing!) , clean, everything worked and looked well taken care of (sometimes things don't work at the beach). The hotel is on the best part of the beach. It's clean and wide and far away from the seaweed patches and the tourist scrum. The have a restaurant across the street, and it is wonderful. The breakfasts are very good, but the dinners were fantastic. When we were there they had a Argentinean style parilla set-up, with a proper asador. Oh, and the manager who helped us check-in was so genuinely nice and very helpful arranging transportation to town and giving us local information. He even brought us some complimentary mojitos about 10 minutes after we checked in to our room :)

I've stayed at a few other places on the beach here, and while they were all nice, this was the most wonderful combination of room, beach, location, and service. We loved this place and are still talking about how wonderful it was, and will definitely return.

“3 nights was just right”

We were glad that we only spent the first few nights of our week in Tulum here. It is lovely, and it is wonderful to walk steps from our casa to the amazing ocean. We were in #5, Blanca Duna, which is two completely separate rooms. The ocean side one(A) was nice, but the jungle facing one (B) was dark and much buggier. After 3 nights of no AC and having sand in the sheets, we were glad to move inland to La Selva Mariposa in the jungle. The beach is wonderful, with very few people on it. The hotel provides nice chairs, towels, and even brought us boogie boards to use. The wi-fi in the lobby was a nice touch, and the people there were very helpful. The restaurant had a nice breakfast, and had great food for dinner or lunch, but was pretty pricey.
