“Stunning villas and service...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

We stayed 5 nights at Rosewood and loved it.
We have been lucky enough to stay in some great beach resorts and we both thought the villas were some if the best we had ever seen. They were incredibly spacious and luxuriously furnished in keeping with the setting. The bathrooms were huge with his and her sinks, large open showers and the biggest hot tub round baths we had seen. There was also an additionally outdoor shower area.
The bed and lounge were super comfy. The outdoor space was excellent- great view of the river in front of us that runs through the mayakoba properties and a great plunge pool which was always hot - perfect for an evening sunset drink.

The resort has a great beach front pool set up and also a quieter beautiful pool area near the main building. We enjoyed spending time at both.

The service throughout the resort including your own personal villa 'host' was excellent and the staff do the most they can to make your stay relaxing.

The only point we think could do with a little improvement is the food - it is fairly costly and whilst the quality is good, there could be a bit more variety. Food is good but not exceptional.
However the nearby Banyan Tree helps with the variety of dinning options.

We would recommend the resort to couples and families.

I've been lucky enough to have stayed at tons of luxury properties and Rosewood Mayakoba is definitely one of my favorites. The grounds are beautiful and well manicured but the service is outstanding. Our personalize butler Alma, even brought a stuffed animal for my toddler. She was always anticipating our every need and definitely made our stay stand point. Honestly we were there for 5 days and never left the property, there was no reason to.

The private pool with the room was fun, needless to stay my 2 year old never got out of it. We stayed in the deluxe lagoon suite and it was huge with 3 showers, we especially loved the outdoor shower. The pools were beautiful with great service yet again but I have to say my favorite was the spa. Its large, spotless and definitely calming. I had the 90 minute facial but I think I was in there for at least 2 hours while I dozed off. The sauna, steam, etc are included in the room rate so I would recommend go every day.

The only think there is room for improvement is to have a microwave in the room especially for traveling families that need to warm milk for the kids. Beyond that, excellent all around. Also the breakfast is great so don't miss out on that.

Room Tip: Don't miss the spa or breakfast.

I stayed for 2 night in a beachfront site. It was stunning! Luxury luxury luxury ! Every suite has a butler.. And they really cater to every need (almost to the point where I wanted to say "stop asking! I'm fine!) very inquest experience with the lagoon and boat ride to room (saw a crocodile in water on the way). It's a VERY large property and next time I would ask for my own bike so I could get around easier. I received a tour of whole property so I can tell you all rooms have their special beautiful qualities even if you aren't on the beach. The breakfast buffet was amazing and even included a gluten free table, and a kids table. Each guest receives a cool bottle of tequila and one night they put a monogrammed pillowcase on my bed! WOW!!!! If you are looking for tip top of the line, and money isn't object... This is a great place to go (note it's very romantic, and about 10 minutes from Playa Del Carmen). This is the type of place you would lock yourself up in with your partner and be pampered.

We like to think of ourselves as pretty discriminating travelers (stay at a lot of high-end places in Europe, Asia, Caribbean). This hotel stands apart. We just finished a week here in late December, pre-Christmas. The staff are extraordinary. Everyone from the groundskeepers to the restaurant staff know your name and recites it, every time you walk by; knows what activity you have planned each day; even your food allergies. Their attentiveness is extraordinary. (Every room is assigned a "butler" who manages activities, restaurant reservations, etc. Our first room was a tad noisy, because of a neighboring child. The staff moved us without questions to a super quiet alternative. Travel around the resort is accomplished via golf carts -- we never waited for than 2 minutes for one.) The rooms are gorgeous, modern and generously sized. We stayed at a "lagoon studio" but that term does not do justice to the large proportions, private outdoor space and plunging pool (heated 24 hours a day.) The place oozes romance -- each room has a giant indoor tub, indoor shower, outdoor shower and private upstairs outdoor space, reached via a spiral staircase. The food is very good for a beach resort. Breakfast (included in our per night price) is especially strong, with fresh homemade croissants and breads, a breathtaking array of fresh fruits and made to order Mexican egg entrees that are uniformly delicious. We used the spa for massages, which were quite good. A private spa pool there (no kids allowed) offers a great ways to spend a few hours. There are no extra charges for a variety of things: tennis, including court, balls and rackets was gratis. So are the water bottles and ice buckets, refreshing beverages and ice pops at the beach. So is use of all the spa facilities (hot tubs, cold plunge, sauna, steam room, gym.) Our quibbles are of the tiniest sort: the beach is a tad bit small, for a resort of this quality, and will be crowded during high season. The beachside pool is filled with children most of the day, which can make lunch at the adjacent restaurant there a bit harrowing. The ocean here is pretty rocky in places, so consider brining special footware. The meal prices at the main restaurant are quite high for dinner, so we ate at the beach restaurant (wonderful) and Agave, the very good seafood joint. Rosewood recommended dinner at the two nearby notes in the same giant complex. Both were good, though not great. Eating at Rosewood is your best bet. Though a journey to the Fairmont (think Vegas, cheesy) and Banyan (an Asian-themed hotel) remind you that have chosen the best hotel in Mayakoba by far.

Room Tip: The lagoon studios may sound small -- they are not. They are plenty big, with private pools, outdoor...

went to the rosewood mayakoba the week of thankgiving. Had an encounter with the neighboring property doing some landscaping in prep for some visiting executives. Of course landscaping here was major construction trucks, back hoes, etc. Complained and was moved to a very nice quiet lagoon suite. Can't say enough about these rooms - they are great! The spa was wonderful! I would caution use of the bikes! I ended up in one of those lovely mexican bushes with many scratches...however, Fermin, Bennie, and butler Joel all came to the rescue. Fermin even cheered me on, "Bravo - you did not cry" as he was cleaning up my wounds.
Didn't think I would be such a problem for RM but they all helped out once they were aware of my concerns/situation.

Magnificent property with top of the line Mexican service. Every detail taken care of. Excellent food and personal service.Talk about pampering. Rooms are large one-of-a-kind suites. Pool and beach area way above other hotels in the area.

I just returned from an amazing stay at the Rosewood Mayakoba. The resort is truly amazing.

ROOMS: We stayed in room 200 which is a Lagoon view room. It was great. We loved the upstairs deck and the plunge pools. The room was walking distance to the main lobby, pool and restaurants. The beach and main pool is a bit of a hike from our room but they have golf carts that take you around and arrive very quickly. Our Butler Manual was amazing. He was extremely helpful and efficient.

RESTAURANTS: This is one area the Rosewood needs to work on. They only have 3 restaurants on site. We went to all 3 and service was slow. One night we had dinner at the sushi restaurant which maybe has a total of 8-10 tables and the kitchen could not accommodate our table of 4. All our entrees came out at different times. It’s hard to believe that the service everywhere else is so amazing and the restaurant service is so poor. The food was good (not the best I’ve had) if you can overlook the service.

POOL/BEACH: The Rosewood has 2 pools. One which is by the front desk and on the quiet side and the second by the pool. The staff at the beach and pool were outstanding especially Gabriel!

SPA: I went to the spa for a manicure and pedicure. It was okay- I didn’t really like the chairs you sit in or how they put your foot on their knee to polish your toes it’s a little hard to relax but the spa is a nice place to go and relax and I do like that they allow you to use all the areas of the spa even if you do not have an appointment.

Overall, we loved the Rosewood. We attended a wedding night and the wedding coordinator Arianna was truly amazing. I cannot believe all the things she pulled off all on her own. This girls deserves a gold metal. The events and the wedding we’re amazing.
