“Great hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2014

I have stayed in many hotels in Playa del Carmen and this is definitely my favorite one. The location is perfect, right next to the main street in playa so you can walk anywhere. The rooms are very confortable and clean, great service.

Arriving after a long journey from Campeche, we were greeted by the receptionist who was warm and welcoming. The rooms are large and clean, and have all the necessary amenities. In a nutshell, the hotel is a little oasis in the middle of the town. We went to the Mamitas beach during the day, which is 10 mins away by foot, and really enjoyed arriving back at the hotel pool which is calm and a little haven after the crowds. The fifth avenue is just 2 steps away, as is Oh LaLa, one of the best restaurants in town.

The buffet breakfast is served in the restaurant next door and has a variety of continental, American and Mexican foods.

Along the beachfront, there are several hotels which may look nice but are not worth the price for value. The nicest beach area is Mamitas.

I have stayed un this hotel in more than a view occasions.

Very nice Hotel with a beautiful garden, excellent Staff and modern rooms.

I absolutely love the location, downtown but still a oasis if calm!

The top floor rooftops have been renovated and those
rooms were noisy before however after the renovation you can sleep perfectly as the ceilings were isolated as well.

I will definitely come back!!!!!

I stayed and enjoyed nine nights at this hotel during Easter 2014.
Advantages:
- Very well located in the center and close the beach
- Very clean
- Big room
- The room service is very good
- The staff is very kind and helpful
- All advantages of a Small hotel (no rush)
- Nice and quiet swimming pool
- Nice bar with correct prices
Drawbacks
- You have to request explicitly the safe with additional fee! It costs me 270 Pesos for 9 days. It's nothing but very strange to charge the safe especially when you are not informed before.
- The hotel have a deal with Coco Maya beach but you have to buy beverages or foods
- Noisy during the night till 5:00 am. (Coco bongo is very close to the hotel)

Room Tip: Avoid room located on your right when you enter the hotel coz of the street and noise during the nig...

Second time staying at Magic Blue. It is in a perfect location off of 5th and 2.5 blocks from the beach. If you want to relax at the Hotel pool it has a bar and food at reasonable prices or go to the beach. Keep in mind that to stay at the beach club you have to buy beverages or food which is a minimum of 150 pesos Not a bad deal. Only issue was our fridge didn't cool the on the second day and I told management and they had it replaced in a couple of hours. Very clean all around. We will be back.

Stayed here one night passing through after a recommendation by a friend. The place was great. A bit pricey in high season but very nice. Great location. Beautiful courtyard pool and garden setting. Lots of palm trees. You really don't feel as if you are in the middle of the city. Would stay here again.

We recently returned to the Magic Blue for our 6th successive stay in 3 years. I initially submitted a review singing it's praises from the rooftops.
For our first 4 trips, the Hotel was adults only. It really was such a peaceful paradise, and even given it's location downtown, it was an idyllic oasis.
However, the Hotel changed it's policy, allowing children.
Now I don't have a problem with children, I have grown up children and young Grandchildren myself, but I initially chose the Magic Blue Hotel because of it's adult only policy.
The Hotel is just not designed to be child friendly, and any noise is magnified due to the location being so confined and intimate.
The quality of the Hotel remains the same, with great rooms and EXCELLENT staff.
We are returning to Playa Del Carmen in a couple of months; however, we have reluctantly had to book alternative accommodation, in an adults only Hotel.
We would certainly return to the Magic Blue if they were to restore their ADULTS only policy.
