“STAY AWAY - Unless you hate sleeping”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2012

Service 3.5/5
- Only one of the front desk managers was helpful. She seems to carry the brunt of the work but when the other staff were working they knew far less about the area. (granted we speak very little spanish so that might be a factor)

Value 2/5
- Considering we didn't sleep at all there are far better places to stay. The pool is small and the water is freezing. There is barely any light in the rooms and our air conditioner stopped working completely! They recycle the same towels so when the room is cleaned they take away the towels without replacing them until later in the day.

Sleep Quality 1/5
- Horrible. You're situated between the noisiest church I've ever heard and the most annoying night club that plays horrible techno music between 11-6:30am. We didn't get any sleep 3/5 nights we stayed here. The music permeates the entire hotel so changing rooms isn't an option either. If the music weren't enough we were also eaten alive by mosquitos during the night.

Cleanliness 2.5/5
- Rooms are overall clean but the hotel has a lot of vegetation around it. We saw lizards, bugs and cockroaches in our room during our stay.

Location 2/5
- Location is great to be able to get to everything. You're close to the beach as well as shopping on 5th avenue. Only issue is that the hotel is further south, which is close to the more touristy locations and has inferior (crowded, dirty) beaches compared to the northern area. Rating goes down given our inability to sleep at all however because of the church and the nightclub.

Rooms
- Decently sized rooms, good water pressure and hot water.

Excellent hotel - just the best spot to stay in Playa if you want more of a real local and friendly experience as opposed to a vast all-inclusive resort! Charming and small with lovely palapas style rooms around a rectangular pool that is great for "proper" swimming - a few laps before breakfast.
Friendly staff, clean rooms that have double sinks in the rooms and smallish showers/wc in a separate area.(the one suite has a jacuzzi and is still a good price).,Beds are large and comfy and rooms have plenty of space overall.
The location is perfect - one block from 5th Ave and many great restaurants, nice bars close by plus some nightclubs. Due to the latter it can be noisy on some nights but not too bad! Very cosmopolitan/european guests overall so its very relaxed!
Only two issues are that the rooms are quite dark at night - need more lights - and the pool barman constantly plays the TV tele-novella's far too loud!
Overall excellent with great pricing - this will always be our spot to stay in Playa.

I went to this trip for a friends wedding, the hotel was occupied mostly by friends. It is a good hotel for what you pay. The rooms are very spacious, clean, confortable, etc. The breakfast that you have included is very complete and just a block away. The only bad thing is the beach to which this hotel has access isnt the best. The location of the hotel is very good, its near to the 5ta avenida, and most of the nightclubs.

We initially travelled to Riviera Maya for a 5 star all inclusive break at a resort.
Whilst there, we decided to relieve the boredom and seclusion by jumping in a Cab, and paying a visit to the local Town, Playa Del Carmen. The atmosphere was amazing ! At last, Mexico full of Mexican people !
The place has a vibrant feel, and the shopping and Bars and Eating choices are endless.
We revisited the Town on a number of occasions prior to leaving our All Inclusive Holiday.
We decided that on our return to Mexico, that we would try something different; not the usual all inclusive experience, but a Hotel in the middle of Playa, fending for ourselves.
We chose the Magic Blue, and weren't disappointed. The set up is superb !
Although the madness of the Coco Bongo and nightclubs are just across the road, as soon as you go through the reception area, the silence is deafening, and you could be in the middle of an oasis !
The rooms are first class, and the Staff are amazing. The pool is superb; most days we felt as though we had an exclusive pool all to ourselves ! There's nothing I can criticise, what an excellent Hotel.
I was actually reluctant to write this review, as I was considering keeping quiet and keeping the Magic Blue a secret, it's that good. We have been there 3 times in the past 18 months now, and are planning to go again soon

Room Tip: For the very lightest of sleepers, ask for a room at the rear of the property

This is a very nice and quiet little adults only hotel in the heart of Playa del Carmen. After we booked out trip we found out that there was a night club right across the street from it, so we were a bit concerned about our sleep and rest. But we did not need to be concerned. We slept like babies and we didn't hear any noise coming from the night club.
The breakfast at the adjoining Argentinian restaurant was less exciting, but there was plenty of it with both a la carte and buffet.
The staff is friendly and the place is very clean and relaxing. Would definitely come back again if the choice falls on PDC again :)

This hotel is built up with nice appartment rooms like your own house. You have your front door with own hammock. Your hotel is in the middle of the city centre but you don't hear any noise about the party people. Everything looks very well, good shower and very good bed. People of the staff and all of the employees are realy very nice !! When we should go back is this our place again.
