We (four ladies on our annual getaway) have stayed at the Grand Mayan before and the Grand Bliss rooms are very similar. Of course the Grand Bliss is upgraded and the patio was much larger. The dip pool on the patio is very nice, even if you just enjoy looking at it. I do wish the patios had beach views, instead they have views of the "jungle".
We had hoped the new swimming pool on the beach would have been complete. However, there was always a shuttle available to take us over to the Grand Mayan to enjoy their pools. One of the pools was closed for refurbishing (the sand pool). But the two larger pools were open and we enjoyed the swim up bars. I would also recommend participating in water aerobics, very fun.
We enjoy cooking so the kitchen was well used. Wish there was a full size freezer and wish there were an oven. But we still managed to cook delicious food. We shopped at the Walmart in Playa on our first day for our groceries. Don't bring home any ice cream as there is no place to store it in the mini fridges (there were two mini fridges in the kitchen).
Recommendations\ to the Grand Bliss-would enjoy having a DVD player in the room. Would like to have a walking trail to enjoy a healthy walk in the beautiful resort.
We enjoyed the dancers that performed one evening in Havana Moon and found the food to be good. We went into Playa and also enjoyed our meals at Genacolo (delicious Italian food, homemade pasta) and Alhambra (great view of the beach and great ceviche).
As always, the staff throughout the resort are amazing and very accommodating.
