“No Reason to Stay Anywhere else in Playa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2013 via mobile

What a gem! It's an oasis In the heart of Playa. The rooms are clean, comfortable , and spacious. The service is personal and attentive. The pool is like a discovering a jungle swimming hole at the end of a long, hot day. It's amazing to have such a great value in Playa!

My husband and I stayed at the Luna Blue in a tree top terrace room for 7 nights in August. Wonderful choice for our privacy. Friendly staff, wonderful pool, and very, very clean. Plenty of bottle water and the fridge was awesome. Only thing that could be improved on is the mattress. Very thin and hard which made so nights difficult to get to sleep.

This wonderful , charming & very clean hotel is right in the heart of Playa Del Carmen. I was a single traveler, first time to Playa and stayed at The Luna Blue for 34 days. I immediately felt right at home with the super friendly & helpful staff. Frankie the hotel cat and I also became quick pals. As a hotel guest you can get local beach club passes from the front desk as well as book great tours that will pick you up right in front ! Internet connection was also important to me, it worked great in my room and around the property !! I Loved my room, it was large with excellent air condition , kitchenette and a patio lounging area. The maids always made sure to leave a smile on my face with their talented daily towel art. The Luna Blue has a fun bar on site that boasts swings instead of bar stools. Many of the hotel guests enjoy hanging out , meeting and singing along with live music that is offered on certain nights. The owners of this hotel Tony & Cheri are great , down to earth people from the US , that ended up living their dream in Playa Del Carmen. I could really see their passion in the details of the decor , especially at night when various sea shells lit up around the gardens that led to the rooms. I had an excellent experience and stay at this boutique hotel and I hope to make it back some day :)

We stayed at Luna Blue in July 2013. We usually stay at huge all inclusive resorts, so we didn't know what to expect and we were pleasantly surprised. Due to flight delays we checked in super late, but that wasn't a problem at all. Our Garden View room was huge and had a full kitchen. The AC worked great which is key in the middle of the summer in Mexico. The 2nd morning we were there we ran into Tony, one of the owners. He was super friendly and made us feel right at home! Wi-fi was a little spotty in the room, but worked great from our balcony. My only complaint was the music on Tuesday/Thursday night, but that is just personal preference. Overall this hotel was amazing and we can't wait to stay there again!

Very cute hotel and wonderfully located at a half block from the main walking street 5th Ave. For the price, we expected a bit more. Had Playa del Carmen been my only travel experience, Luna Blue would be at the top of my list, but comparably it's your average boutique hotel for twice the price.

The receptionist on staff was extremely helpful and knows his city and its surroundings well. Ask him how to get anywhere without paying obnoxious rates and he's happy to share. The bar is nice enough and the drinks are well-priced compared to other bars of its kind in the area. The free passes to the "beach club" require that you purchase an overpriced drink on the supposdely public beach once there.

I had not been back to Luna Blue in 5 yrs so it was amazing to see how much Tony and Cheri have done with the place. The great Luna Blue Bar and pool added the finishing touches. I went to Playa for a rejuvenating post-divorce trip and this mural on the wall of Room #8 said it all...."I am going away...to an unknown country where I shall have no past and no name, and where I shall be born again with a new face and an untired heart." Thank you Luna Blue, Tony and Cheri for another unforgettable trip to Playa. Staying at Luna Blue feels like you're staying at Tony and Cheri's house...close to 5th, close to restaurants, yet a quiet little bit of paradise.
