We absolutely loved our room and our 7 day stay at Kinbe! Like others have already stated, if you are an “all in” type person this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for a great location and love to be in the “middle of the action” this IS the place for you. With Kinbe being located in downtown Playa del Carmen, there were so many great restaurants, stores and shops, night hotspots for the party person in you, and last but not least the beautiful blue Caribbean Sea just one block down the street. But if you are a person who is early to bed, then the noise may be a problem for you.

We stayed in room number 13. It has a great balcony with views of both the beach and of part of 5th Ave. The hotel grounds are beautiful, the cleaning staff was fine and the front desk folks were always friendly and went above the call of duty during our stay.

Two thumbs up from Kim and Kirby, we will come back to Playa Del Carmen and to the Kinbe Hotel!

Its funny how some people hear noise! We stayed 10 nights at the Kinbe in January and found it to be a very gracious hotel and would stay again. The small amount of noise amounted to a hammer bing once in a while. No loud electric drills, or saws of any kind. We found the natural way of building the new wing to be very refreshing and rather enjoyed watching how it can be done by hand without power tools. Amazing to watch.

Our room was one of the small rooms, double bed. Yes it was different from home, but very clean and comfortable. The bath is small, but clever in design and more than functional. The a/c can freeze you out. We had to ask for an extra blanket! We very much enjoyed the roof top view. We could sit all afternoon and enjoy the view of the ocean.

For the great price of this hotel, you will not be dissapointed. Location is the best in Playa. 75 feet to Starbucks and Java Joes, which I prefer, and Hagendaz across the street. Then 75 feet in the other direction is the beach. Staff was most helpful and very honest. They would do anything to make your stay enjoyable. We look forward to returning again to Hotel Kinbe. Thank you for a great 50th birthday party that lasted 10 days.

Ps. If you are looking for the Hyatt or Marriot stay home. I give Hotel Kinbe a 10.

The Kimbe is a nice hotel in downtown Playa del Carmen, right off the main drag, 5th Ave. The hotel staff is friendly, the location good if you want to be in the middle of things, and the rooms nice enough.

The hotel is divided into two section: the older area and the new section. We stayed in the new section. The older area was a nice courtyard with plenty of plants. The new section is more modern in design, with a small pool in the courtyard and minimalist rooms (bed, chair, closet, plasma tv, funky lamps). Overall our experience was decent.

The reason I did not give a higher score to the hotel is that it is just now finishing construction on its expansion, and there was constant construction noises and banging from early in the morning until late in the afternoon every day. The hotel staff gave us a 20% discount as a result of this.

If you are thinking of going to the Kimbe, wait a month or two until the construction is finished, although you will still hear some noise from nearby clubs (but this is to be expected near 5th Av). In fact, you may want to skip Playa del Carmen altogether for the next two years, as the whole town in under construction. If you hotel is not being built or remodeled, some hotel within a block of yours will be.

Booked our stay through there website. Photos are misleading. Arrived there and the room smelled of mildew and workers were renovating our floor . Room was very cramped and dark! This is a place for teens who just need a place to crash.They offered us another room for only one night of our stay and said we would be back in this room after- no exceptions. My wife was extremely unhappy. We asked if they would just cancel our reservation and we would move on. She said sure but we will charge you anyway. It was so bad we left and took our chances. I did end up paying for the stay we never had because the hotel did run the charge. Stay away from this hotel. Customer service is non existent!
