“Still the Best.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2014

Playa changes all the time, coffee here doesn't...Paul doesn't either, want to know where to eat, where to visit Paul will tell you inbetween making the smoothest coffee. I love coffee even more than chocolate and third year back in Playa this little place is still the best.

“Fantastic coffee and conversation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2014

Some of the best java you'll find in Playa. Paul, the owner, is jovial, chatty, and perhaps the nicest guy you'll ever have the pleasure to meet. It's tiny inside, with two tables and five(-ish) seats, and a couple of bar seats outside. As such, it stays pretty chill.

Paul makes a stunningly good iced cappuccino, and the man clearly knows his beans. He also makes a pretty mean bagel; I don't know what he sprinkles on the cream cheese (herbs?) but it's divine.

The prices are a bit cheaper than Guilty Monkey down the road. Your 40 or so pesos also gets you a much larger coffee. Paul has specials up daily, and you can count on being able to get something to eat and drink for around 70 pesos.

“Great Coffee with a Little Slice of Life”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2014

My husband and I first found the Coffee Stop a couple of years ago by chance- before Paul was on trip advisor. We were so impressed by Paul and his delicious coffee. But even more than that, Paul was our most helpful tour guide. He was very resourceful for us and had great suggestions on places to eat, or other cities to visit. The Coffee Stop, and getting to know Paul, was a highlight of our trip. We recently went back to Playa Del Carmen and The Coffee Stop was one of our first places to go- for one, because the coffee is the best you'll find in Playa, and because Paul is such a great host. You will be missing out on life if you don't try his coffee with a slice of chocolate cake. Amazing!!

“Must visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2014

The coffee here is great but the main reason to stop by is to visit with Paul, he is a wonderful source of information about places to eat or shop for something special at a reasonable rate. Also has one of the most reliable Wifi connections in Playa so you can communicate back home and tell them what a wonderful place Playa is.

“great coffee, great owner.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2014

tiny little coffee shop off 5th, the coffee is great, reasonable priced, but the owner is what makes it a real gem. he is a down to earth friendly bloke. we stopped by and one of our group is a coeliac, he gave us some great restaurant advice for cheaper restaurants away from 5th that caters to gluten free people. i enjoyed stopping off for coffee there.
