Forget Survivor: Guatamala, we are Survivor Team: Playa de Carmen!
We have returned from Iberostar Tucan and are extremely happy to be home. This resort is absolutely wonderful and we can't praise the staff enough for their hard work. The hurricane hit 2 days after we arrived, so we didn't get much chance to enjoy all of the wonderful amenities. We were sequestered in our rooms the second evening we were there. Unfortunately we didn't get to dine at any of the a la carte restaurants (sorry, no reviews) because they had to close down, but I heard great things about the Japanese, Italian and Tropical restaurants. The buffet was really good and should appease picky eaters! The buffet was like 'heaven' after being sequestered in our rooms with rations for 2 days, but they really did take wonderful care of us, considering the serious situation at hand. The main pool and beach were both very nice once they got them cleaned up. The employees worked so hard to prepare for and then clean up after the hurricane. I wish we had the opportunity to enjoy more at this wonderful resort, yet I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others who are condsidering this location for a vacation. Just check first to be sure that they have everything "up and running" before you go.
We'd like to hear how the "return home" went for so many of you who were familiar faces every day at the resort. To Rick and his family from Minnesota: we were wondering what happened after you told us that you had to leave the resort at 11pm for the school to get your boarding passes. When did you fly out? Did everyone on our Hooters flight make their connections home that same night? Our our Las Vegas neighbors home okay? We just BARELY made the flight to Dallas (the LAST ONE OUT) and then got to San Diego around 11pm. Long day, as you all know. I suppose everyone took a hot shower as soon as they got home -- as we did! Anyone for a ham and cheese sandwich? Ha! ;-) If any "survivors" from Iberostar reads this -- don't hesitate to email me. Take care! And isn't it GREAT to be home?!?!?
