“Birthday Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

My wife and I ate at the Mayan Bistro for 5 days. Every meal was cooked perfectly. Hats of to the cooks, the servers and to management team, their commitment to the customers is very evident and we appreciated their great service.

“Crab tostados were out of this world!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

This was on my list after reading reviews on Tripadvisor. Glad we ventured out in search of this gem. This is part of a hotel but do not let that stop you.
Chris the manager was more than helpful , friendly and took the time to have a pleasant conversation. Happy hour had two for one drinks!
We started with the crab tostados for an appetizer and I could have eaten those for my whole meal. Fresh, and delicious. I had a chicken dish and my boyfriend had the chicken mole. Hats off to the chef! To top it off we had the coconut ice cream.
What a delight. Definitely going back there for at least a couple meals when we visit next year. I would say the pricing was medium. Well worth it. You will not be disappointed. So much more on the menu I would like to try.

“Great for After Dinner Drinks and Dessert”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

Vacationed in Playa del Carmen in May 2013 and went for dinner one night and drinks and dessert a second night at the Mayan Bistro. The restaurant is a block or two off of 5th Avenue and has your choice of indoor and outdoor dining. Both have their own special ambience. Since our trip was in May (the shoulder season) the restaurnat was not busy and reservations were not needed. The wait staff were personable and friendly. The menu had a good selection of protiens (beef, chicken, fish) with plenty of salads and side dishes. Portions were generous and the food was good, not great, and the prices were moderate not inexpensive.
We liked the atmosphere enough to go back a second night and just have after dinner drinks and dessert. The tropical drinks are excellent and made with real fruits, juices and quality alcohol and liquors. They also have great aqua frescas and fruit liquados for those who don't drink alcohol. For dessert we tried the "Bananas Mexicana" a spin on "Bananas Foster" and it was great.
Dinner for two with salads and a drink cost us around $70 USA.
