“Nice place on the beach, best atmospere in town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2013

We choose this place walking on the beach, nice beach, good restaurant and bar service, nice staff, beautiful all inclusive packages for drink and sunbeds. they have wifi, they have comfortable sunbeds and umbrellas. They are the best you can in town (i don't know all the places far away but i know all the coastline at walking distance of the city.

Wow - we had fabulous stay at Las Palapalas - the staff was wonderfully friendly; the beach was spectacular; the palapala was really comfortable (only complaint - a mild one - was low water pressure in the shower); the grounds were beautifully maintained; the location (as they say in my business of real estate in Santa Fe, NM - location, location, location) was so excellent - just steps away from a veritable plethora of great dining places in Playa del Carmen- was perfect for evening wanderings. I think that this is a fantastic choice for a great vacation. We will be back soon!!!

Room Tip: Go for the beach and water front view roooms - they cost a bit more, but are worth it!

Stayed with my partner at Las Palapas on Nov 9-13. This is a nice hotel, right on the beach, with easy access to PdC main shopping/dining street (5th Ave.)
We had a couple of issues when we arrive. The AC unit was too noisy and was positioned right on the bed panel, could not sleep well at all. Asked to change rooms and they did with no problems. Second room had no hot water !!! Complained again, and they fixed it within 30 minutes.
Staff is really nice, breakfast good enough.
Had no problems with noise from the Club Mamitas.

Greetings to Miami,

Thanks for sharing your recent stay at Las Palapas. We are happy to read that all your needs were attended by our team and solved as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience caused with the location of your AC. We understand that some of these are located right above the bed, and it's certainly something we are trying to fix, and will be addressed during our renovation works. Phase one is finished, will begin phase two around May; and phase three will begin by mid-August. To deliver the new Las Palapas experience in December 2014. We really hope you give us the opportunity to welcome you again, once our remodeling works are finished, we will be happy to deliver the surprises and new additions.

Hasta pronto.

Las Palapas is a very quiant and cute place to stay... It has been years since I was there, but the 2 times I stayed there I had a great time with my friends! This is one of the first places I stayed when I moved to Mexico and also one of the last places I stayed and the consistency of the service was the same, very good! You cannot beat the beach view here!

My husband, my 5 yr.old son and I had a great time this summer. The plan was to spend a day and then move to our humongous resort (M. Palace) that was already paid. After two nights at that place we decided to move back to Las Palapas and relax and enjoy the beach.
It was great to have the different breakfast options every morning, basic and comfy room. For basic I mean it has all the necessary things that you need and no telephone or T.V. Excellent WiFi reception even at the beach!
The hotel has a great access to Quinta Avenida and an excellent staff that I really want to see again soon.

Room Tip: I traveled with my son and we selected a first floor room for security.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

We have stayed at Las Palapas several times in the last 10 years and it has always been a wonderful place. This time it was all great except for one incident that left us with disappointment. Even though we knew that we are charged for misplacing the key to the room, the yarn they gave us for the key was old and worn (we have a picture of it). We did not misplaced the key or the yarn, but the key fell off the yarn. The people at the front desk said it was our responsibility. The lady even called management over the phone and they told her that she would have to pay for the key. Management did not even come to the front desk. So, not wanting the front desk lady to be charged we paid. Of course the second key they gave us had a new, strong yarn. After so many years of choosing Las Palapas as our favorite hotel in Playa, this time we left disappointed. We chose it especially to celebrate our 35th anniversary. The hotel is a beautiful place and the waiters and workers go out of their way to serve and help. Some of them remembered my husband by name. On the other hand Management does not care who comes and goes. They do not care about customers that have been coming year after year. The room was O.K. Breakfast delicious. Beach service outstanding. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful even though it had been raining quite a bit. Front desk was good. Security excellent. Management disappointing.

Las Palapas was a real teat for us when we moved down from Cancun and the location is ideal. Right on the beach (and what a beach it is) and so much nicer than the others surrounding it, as the smell of sulphur is strong on both sides, then it is a short walk into town. From reception to the pretty restaurant and the quaint rooms with their hammocks and jungle settings, the place has a feel of relaxation. If we ever get to the East coast of Mexico again, we will head for Las Palapas.

Room Tip: Go for a "jungle" room for privacy.
