Service at Sandos Playacar was amazing, a couple of the wait staff really stand out. David E at the members club was outstanding always with a smile and kind words made all 19 of us feel welcome, love David E. Diony del Moral at the swing bar was fantastic she went out of her way to make our stay great.

First time to Mexico. Convinced the family to forfiet Christmas and save the money for a vacation of a lifetime. Sandos Playacar delivered. Easily accessible to shopping if need be. Extremely friendly staff. Especially Mr. John Appleton. He rocked it. Anything we needed he was there like our personal jeanie. Not only was he informable, he was intelligiant, and always had time to chat. Huge smile as well. I would go back just to hang out with him at the pool. The scenery was great! The entertainment was amazing as well, for all ages. You would have never known it was Spring Break in Cancun. Truley a relaxing time.

Room Tip: Specify if you need to be closer to the beach or the main anemities so you can be placed appropriatl...

Stayed March 25-April 1 in 2102. Quiet area near beach and pools. Well spaced out property with easy access and well marked pathways. Lots of fun with all activities. Cupcake cafe is adorable but all desserts were utterly disgusting. Coffee bar at Cupcake Cafe is excellent as well as service at Coffee Bar. Festival Buffet food is mostly not good but like all buffets you can always find something tasty. French restaurant ordered sea bass and hubby ordered duck. Both were not edible! Crab cappuccino was disgusting. Everything we ordered at French restaurant was gross to put it mildly! Asian restaurant was a slight improvement but also not great. Brazilian was much better and meat was fresh and for the most part cooked well. Steak house was great. Staff was excellent and entertaining. Nightly shows were enjoyed by our kids ages 13, 10, 5 as was kids club by 5 yr old. Rooms were doable. Beds were on the lumpy side so a bit hard to sleep. Shower area has lots of rust and needs updating to tile probably due to rust and mildew. Kids room 2101 had tons of mosquitos even though we sprayed kids with off several times. Overall very nice people and lots of fun. Also went to XPLOR and really enjoyed it.

Our family (with two children 5 & 9) visit Sandos for the first time. I was a little bit sceptic to a huge all inclusive resort before the visit. I was totally wrong. This is a perfect and most comfortable vaccation. Especially for families with children.
We stayed in a Standard room, which was quite spartan. Two queen sized beds (a little bit hard) an minibar and balcony. It's clean, great located close to the pool and beach. The view wasn't the best though. The bathroom was spacious and we where OK with the room since we didn't spend much time there.
This resort has everything you need to entertain a family for two weeks. Minigolf, Bicyckles, Tennis, Soccer, Pingpong, Pool, surfing, Shows (great capoeira and circus shows) and kids club, playground, wild animals (monkeys and lizards lived just outside oure house) The best thing is that everything is included. The staff is amazing. For ex we got a personal tennis lesson for my son. The Instructor was excellent (can't remember his name) as all the staff at Sandos.
The food was better then i expected. Lots off restaurants. We enjoyed most of them. The buffé resturants is as you can expect not so fantastic (The Italian was the least good of them all)
The pool and the beach are fantastic at this resort. My son found lots of friends from different parts of the world at the daily soccer game at the beach. It's was fantastic for him to play and socialize with all this kids even though he don't speak many words of English.
We all had a fantastic two weeks at the resort and we will definitely go back.

We enjoyed our vacation at Sandos Playacar. Staff was very friendly and helpful, food was good, the resort has lots of nice ameneties, and the location is great. I particularly enjoyed the spinning classes offered by Adrien Libercier at the gym. It was a great way to counteract all the good food. Thanks Adrien.

Room Tip: We stayed in the newer "family" section which is just off the lobby. Nice and quiet, but...

This was our third visit to Sandos Playacar, and once again we had a fabulous time! A big thanks to Daniela in guest services, for taking care of all of our dinner reservations! All of our meals were fantastic . . . the only problem was that there was so much food, I couldn't eat it all :) Also, thank you to Tamara in Customer service, who went out of her way to meet our every need!
We were lucky enough be at the resort for the grand opening of the new royal elite bar, which is absolutely gorgeous! When we arrived the area was just an empty concrete room, and to our amazement, the next day the bar was completely decorated, stocked and furnished. Incredible! Love the new additions of the swings at La Bambola, the cupcake cafe and the bagel bar on the beach (would be nice if it was open in the morning, though)! Can't wait to come back next year!!!

This was our first time at Sandos. We went there on spring break with our 2 kids 8 and 11 in March of 2013. This hotel is pretty big and long. So if you stay in the family or adult section, be prepared for a 10 min+ walk to and from beach area where all the restaurants and attractions are. We stayed in the family section and found the room to be somewhat updated. It was clean and roomy, but beds and pillows are old and hard and comforters are something like you'd see in a cheap motel. Some smaller minor details about the room bothered us a bit like a missing lamp shade, stain on the headboard, shower that leaks into the room, but no big deal.

The food was ok at best in the buffets for breakfast, lunch, and dinner...you are going to have a hard time finding any meat that tastes good. I'd stay away from the Asian restaurant, sushi is like the cheap grocery store cold version of California rolls. Tempura was the only thing we really liked. The Mexican restaurant was good and definitely try it, just be prepared to wait. They don't take reservations and both nights we tried to eat there, was a 45 min wait....We were given wrong information on what restaurants take reservations, so we missed out on our other a la carte choice, so make sure you book your reservations right away on the first day as all the places seemed to be booked 2 days out.

Most of the staff was friendly enough, but not over the top. Don't expect 5 star service. Be most aware of the other guests, we're not sure what was going on, but a lot of them don't like waiting in lines and cut right to the front of either reception line, buffet, bar, etc....after a while it became a running joke between us, but if you are in a hurry, be aggressive and hold your spot in line! The staff does a good job considering the sheer size and number of people in the place, but act as if it's their job as well sometimes. There was a very mixed guest crowd split equally amongst Europeans, Americans, and Mexicans...The staff primarily speaks Spanish, so you will sometimes have a hard time communicating with some if you only speak English. So don't assume what you are told by staff is correct, keep asking multiple people. You'll be surprised at the number of different answers you get.

Some helpful hints: When you check in, make sure to ask for towel cards! They will not offer them to you and it will be a PITA if you don't have them when you first go to the pool, trust us on this. Make sure to tip people that you will be seeing again, for example your pool server or bartender...these tips go a long way. If eating in the Mexican restaurant, send someone to check in advance...will be a 45 min wait. check out the nightly shows....they are entertaining for the kids and better than we expected. If you want to do other excursions like horseback riding, snorkeling, mayan ruins, book them during the week and in advance. Some excursions are closed on Sundays and almost all need a day in advance notice. Don't buy boogie boards for the beach, you can rent them at the beach.

Props to Israel, (like the country as he says) who runs the mini golf...he was by far the nicest staff member we encountered there. Also the lady who served drinks by the pool was very accommodating.

All in all, we did enjoy our trip to Playacar and at the Sandos. The kids loved it which was most important, there is plenty for them to do between shows, beach, kids club activities, and pool.

Room Tip: closer to the beach, the better...especially if you have kids
