Our 3rd time staying At Sandos Playacar, it just does not get any nicer than this. This resort is the last one in a section or resorts, which means, when you go to the beach, and turn right, there is no resorts, just the most beautiful beach, and jungle. Picture postcard type beach, turquoise blue water, white beach, its amazing. The staff is always so helpful and friendly, my wife and I always ask where do they get these friendly people that work there. This trip we only ate at one of their restaurants once, the Italian one, it was good. But the food in the center buffet area is so good, we ate there 8 of the 9 days we were there, and enjoyed it every time, they have a great variety of food buffet style, and several stations where they are cooking different things to your request. We booked a couple tours from the resort, one to Ek Balam that included a Cenote for rappelling and swimming in, that was a awesome tour, and we did one on a catamaran for a snorkel trip that included a lobster or steak kabob lunch, amazing again! I booked 2 dive trips from the resort, 2 different days and 4 total dives, AMAZING! the water is so clear and warm, so much to see under the water there, barracuda, moray eel, stingray, lion fish, turtles, loads of tropical colorful fish, beautiful coral, if you scuba, you should do some dives while your there. We went each night to the center area where they have outdoor entertainment, its not vegas style by any means, but its good kickback enjoy the evening entertainment, different each night also, ranging from Karaoke, minute to win it, live band, and casino night, good stuff. A fantastic trip, at a beautiful resort, I recommend it to anyone looking for a beach resort, who likes being able to walk down a beach without a crowd, great friendly service and great food, I will be back again! P.S. If you open up Google Earth, and look up Playa Del Carmen Mexico. With Playa on the top of your screen, and the ocean on the bottom, go left down the coast across the condos and resorts until you reach the last one, thats Sandos Playacar, nice!

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms are amazing!

You cannot fault this hotel for it's cleanliness and friendliness of staff. Me and my partner (who became my fiancé on this trip) came here for a week and the hotel was absolutely stunning and spotless. A good variety of drinks and snacks available at all hours. There are a big variety of restaurants available however the only fault is that there is only main restaurant which you can freely walk in to without a reservation. There is the Mexican restaurant, which doesn't need a reservation either but it fills up VERY quickly so you are very limited to your choices. There are a variety of restaurants which require a reservation but I would suggest you book all these on your day of arrival for your weeks meals. We always went out then came back to book but booking is between 8am - 5pm so always missed it! One other thing which struck me as odd is that they didn't refill our coffee in our room, I had to keep asking for it every day. The fridge in the room was well received, being topped up with beer, water and fizzy drinks every 24 hours!

Weather was glorious, nice breeze, a few clouds which broke up the strong sunshine which was welcomed! Pool warm as well as the ocean.

Lots of excursions available - swimming with dolphins, exploring caves and zip-lining, Mayan temples or Coco Bongos. We fit so much into the week we stayed and still had time to chill out on the beach / pool. Both of which were extremely clean and you get waiter/ess service on the beach. Overall fantastic holiday. Few minor points - but I can live with it!

Room Tip: Don't leave your doors open if you have an ocean side room - lots of creepy crawlies!

This was our fourth trip at Sandos. This was our favorite. We had such a relaxing time. We were picked up by Jeromi transfers. They were prompt and had very clean vans. This was our 2nd time using them. We arrived at Sandos and just immediately felt nostalgic. Check in was easy and brought to our oceanfront room. We were in room 1323. Perfect, clean room with an amazing view!!!

Beach:
The beach was exactly how I remembered it last time. The water was perfect: clear and calm. The select section is now in front of building 2, fyi. We had a palapa every morning, no problem there. You can just walk forever and enjoy it. The entertainers were better than our last trip. Mauricio was the best by far!!! I loved doing Zumba and stretching with him on the beach. There was a band a couple of days on the beach and it was so wonderful!!! Food and drink tents also set up on the beach daily around noon. The select section entitles you to beach service. It was nice to have drinks delivered to you.

Food:

All the restaurants were very good. My favorite was the French Gourmet. We had a romantic dinner there with rose petals and it was beautiful!!! The buffets were awesome. I get really annoyed when people say they didn’t like the food. What’s not to like? The selection was vast and good quality. The only problem I had were people being inconsiderate and cutting the lines. But that is not the hotel’s fault.

Grounds:

The hotel grounds were beautiful and clean. The staff work really hard. There is some minor construction taking place. It had ZERO impact on our trip. Please do not worry about it as there have been some posts about the construction that have scared people. I will mention that we also went to Sandos Caracol for the day and we had a lovely time. The hotel and grounds are amazing there, especially the Select section. The beach was not that great though. The beautiful hotel made up for the beach. We would definitely consider this Sandos property.

Entertainment: The nightly entertainment was really awesome. Each show was terrific. They now have “a minute to win it game” and that was so fun to watch. The Rock band was really, really good. We had a really fun time.

Staff: BIG THANKS TO ENRIQUE!!!! You were so accommodating. Thank you for an amazing trip. We really enjoyed everything and appreciated all you did for us. Can’t wait to come back for our 5th trip!!! THANKS SANDOS

Room Tip: The Riviera section is bigger and newer.

The place was great. We've been to this area about 4-5 times. Stayed at different resorts and at different times. September is always GREAT. The ocean was calm, the beach white and clean. Food was very good. French was the best.
We went with four couples. Everyone at the resort was friendly and had a smile on their face. There were a few guest that were rude to the staff. Treat people with respect where ever you go. Duh! Yes, there was a little musty smell. You're at the ocean. Bring a little air freshener, get over it. It is the same in the rest of the resorts in the area.
The negative reviews are so wrong. If anyone has a bad time in a place like this then they are the kind of people who won't be happy any where. Yes, the beds were hard, it didn't bother me I slept like a log. Rooms were clean, food was good, drinks were great. Only issue I had is that they rolled up the carpets at 5-6 o'clock in the adult section and closed the pools and bar. Over all a really great time at this resort.
Date stamp on camera wasn't set. :( Sorry. Pictures are from Sept 8-15, 2012

Room Tip: We had pool side rooms in the adult section. Never any noise problems. Can't walk out from your...

My wedding was at Sandos Playacar on December 03,2011. My wedding planner was Lupita Aquino. She was WONDERFUL, I have not words to thank her for such a good service. She and her team went on and beyond her dutties. My wedding decoration was beautiful, the music was perfect and the restaurant was great. Our dinner was in the Brazilian restaurant and the ceremony was on the beach. I had 30 guests and all of them were in love with the hotel and the staff. and the beach is just PERFECT... really beautiful and clean.

In regards with wedding arrangements, if you get Lupita... TRUST HER everything that you need. and really enjoy your stay at the hotel... I regrett that I did not enjoy my time because I was concern with details and wondering how everything will turn out.

about the rooms:
the rooms close to the first reception or villages rae very quiet. no noise and you walk about 5 mins to get to the beach... no big deal really.
the rooms close to the pool lower level, very noise until 10 p.m
the rooms close to the pool/ beach upper level., you won't hear the noisy from the pool and the location is great.
all of the room were very nice, clean and the fridge was always full with drinks.

about the food:
On the buffets there was always something for everyone.... from fruits to cakes... from mexican to international food.
and the other restaurants are good as well but you got to put make a reservation with time ahead.

Have a good time and enjoy Sandos Playacar
