We reviewed the menu and talked with the manager one evening after we'd dined elsewhere, and came back a few nights later based on that positive brief meeting. We were seated in a quiet outdoor table, shielded from passersby by tall trees and greenery, a nice treat on busy Fifth Avenue. The menu is Italian, and the offerings are all elegant and inspired. We ordered focacia as an appetizer, and loved it. It was a light and thin crust, liberally seasoned with herbs, baked in their open wood-burning oven. (Of course, then there was the bread basket to deal with too!) Green salad was made to order of crisp lettuces and vegetables, and the specials of the evening were amazing: delicate home-made ravioli. Mine was filled with ricotta and spinach, topped with shrimp and walnuts in cream sauce, my husband had black-ink ravioli with shrimp. Excellent, unrushed service, and a decent wine list by the glass or bottle. There are many Italian options in Playa del Carmen; this is one to not miss. We know we will go back next time.
