“Xcaret at Night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

Don't waste your time doing X at Night in an effort to save pesos. Not enough time, even though many attractions shut down early. Everybody raves about the show, which ended its production last night. A new show is on the way. For my family, and I do not want to insult the hosts or its people, the show was not our cup of tea although I'm sure the performers were wonderful. X is for those who need a controlled environment and apprehensive about experiencing the Yucatan in the wild.

“Kids loved it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

We enjoyed our day at Xcaret for a few reasons; it offers a nice balance of things to do and things to see. Part zoo, part water park, the kids were well-entertained. The park is reasonably clean.

A couple of notes; the park is not inexpensive. It's expensive to get in, and then there are additional charges for dolphins, sharks, etc. By the way, it seems like these additional charges are negotiable since the longer we stood there contemplating, the greater the discount they offered us. We chose this park because we thought we'd wrap a dolphin experience, zoo and cenotes visit into one trip but the ceynotes are man-made (or seem man-made) and do not at all compare to the ones we visited later in the week and, for the price, the dolphin experience was jut OK. Also, we visited on the early side and, thus, our children were too exhausted to stay for the show at 7PM. If we were to visit again, we'd arrive around 3PM and stay for the show, avoiding the dolphins, etc.

Also, we were told by park employees that we should go directly to the lazy river/cenotes thing to start our day but we'd wished we'd saved that for later to avoid the crowd and avoid ending up on the opposite side of the park in wet clothes. I'd advise saving the wet stuff until after lunch. Speaking of lunch; if you happen to be traveling with a child with food allergies, forget finding someone who understands this concept. If you're really nervous, bring your own food or buy something packaged. We ended up with plain pasta from a buffet because it was literally the only thing we trusted not to have nuts.

Finally, this park was a good choice for our children (5 & 9) but older children will likely be more entertained by one of the area parks with more adventuresome activities (like Xplor)

“Things for everyone”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

This park has a little of everything for everyone... There is animals, resturants, shopping, conservation centers, snuba, snorkling, tropical plants, swimming with the sharks and dolphins and I my favorite which was swimming in caves. Rather you are young or old there is something for everyone. The day that we were there it rained the entire day so we didn't see the entire park. They have a cultural mexican show at night which we missed. Be aware that it should cost no more then 125.00. There were individuals at that airport with burgundy shirts that have goverment ID's that will try and sell you tickets for 50-100.00 and we learned the hard way after giving them 50.00 for the tickets that it is a scam and they never showed up to the hotel and we were out the money. At our hotel the tour representative tried to sell us tickets for 139.00 and we had the pamplet that stated the tickets were 125.00 so complained and they sold us the tickets for 125.00.

“Very enjoyable yet frantic experience.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013 via mobile

Xcaret Is a very beautiful sightseeing place but mind you there is many flaws. The first one Is the many tourists that go there all year round, but that's ok your a tourist also! Usually it's very packed and claustrophobic at times when there is many people. But all these very basic flaws are very minimalistic compared to the great fun and "vacation high-lite" experience you will have here. A must-see while in cancun or playa del Carmen.
