Stayed at another hotel for 4 nights on beach, but my TA forgot to book 5th night, so on SuperBowl Sunday, I set off in search of a hotel and found a Junior King Suite at El Punto. The rooms were great, the staff was great and the price was a fraction of my previous resort; of course El Punto is not all-inclusive like the other resort, but it would have been impossible for me to spend the difference per day. Public beaches are a quick walk down the block and great restaurants and bars abound in the center of town where this Boutique Hotel is located. Even though located in the center of the main street in Playa del Carmen, I had no problem blocking out the street noise and falling asleep, and the AirCon worked well enough to turn the room into a refrigerator if desired. I will be back!

Ok, as long as you know you will be in the middle of all the hustle and bustle( and you are OK with that) you will like this hotel. It's right on the 5th Ave and you can hear the mariachis sing every night. Saturdays are the noisiest ones and it quiets down after midnight, all the other nights it probably quiets down by 10 ish.
The location is very good as it is only 100 meters away from the beach and you get access to 3 different beach clubs where you get sun decks included. Bear in mind these are "city style" beaches so they are busy and there are a lot of people around. They aren't the secluded type.
You will also be close to all sorts of different restaurants, bars and shops and I also must say the 5th Ave is super vibrant and lots of fun!
The rooms are pretty comfortable and well appointed. The photos on the website give you a true reflection of what you will get. And the service is really good, everyone seems really friendly.
There is a beautiful top floor bar/ restaurant called La Azotea that has wonderful views of the Caribbean Sea, worth checking it out!
The only things that I would like them to improve on: you are supposed to get free wi-fi, we'll that didn't work when we were there. And we had to do a local call to the travel agency that booked us onto that same hotel to organize the transfer to the airport and they charged us for the phone call. I thought that was a bit cheap for that type of hotel- it wasn't expensive and we got the hotel to call them for us but I still think that should have been a complimentary phone call. It's just common sense in my opinion.
Other than, that I would recommend that hotel if you want to soak in the vibe at Playa del Carmen and you like the party atmosphere.

Room Tip: Stay there if you are looking for a fun stay in a boutique hotel in Playa del Carmen. And if you don...

Hola Gaby and first of all thank you for booking our boutique Hotel El Punto. We are very happy to hear that overall you had a good stay with us and you recommend our property. Regarding the issue with the WIFI, we are working on it as we do believe is something important for our guests. I apologize that we charged for your phone call therefore as any other hotel calls are not included. I remain at your service and we are looking forward to host you again in the near future!

I absolutely love this hotel! Stayed there for 10 nights (Room #25) during the BPM festival and I would definitely stay there again. The rooms are beautiful & clean and the staff is top notch. The espresso machine in the room is fantastic - I wish that more hotels had one. Definitely a great way to start the day.
The upstairs restaurant is lovely and the hotel has a very chic feel. There's some beautiful artwork in the hallways as well.
Didn't get a chance to try the breakfast since my sleep schedule was off (I was sleeping mostly during daytime hours) but the place is right across the street and the menu looked yummy.
Would definitely recommend this place especially to night owls since it is located on a very busy street and it does get noisy there at night (ear plugs worked fine for me!).
Families & light sleepers might want to consider staying off of 5th avenue, all others should give this one a try.
I will definitely be coming back :)

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Hotel el Punto in Room 29 (top floor corner) which had fantastic views of 5th Avenue and a huge balcony. The room was modern and nicely appointed - even had an espresso machine! My favorite part was sitting out on the balcony with a cup of espresso and listening to the commotion of 5th Ave below. Breakfast is included in the rate each morning at Mi Pueblo which is located kiddly corner from the hotel. I can honestly say it is the best chilaquiles I have ever had! Also included in the rate is access to Mosquito Beach Club which includes your choice of beach bed and umbrella. The beach club is located a short one block from the hotel and the beach club was the perfect way to spend a lazy afternoon. Food and drink is EP and you pay based on consumption. The hotel staff was very friendly and knew us by name.

My only suggestion is to have room service provided by La Azotea, which is located on the top floor of the hotel. La Azotea is a trendy, fun spot for an after-dinner drink or a fabulous dinner.

Thanks Blanca and staff; we'll definitely be coming back!

Room Tip: Room 29 is the top floor corner suit, overlooking Mi Pueblo. Fantastic!

We booked this hotel for 1 night before going to Cozumel. We had been to 5th St on one prior occasion. The front desk staff spoke good English and were friendly. There is no elevator and we had 4 large bags with luggage and scuba gear. The front desk help grabbed 2 of the heavy bags and showed us to the room. The room is great. Clean, reasonably spacious and well equipped with TV and Wi-Fi. Awesome access to 5th street and action. Also reasonably close to bus and ferry..easy walking distance even with large bags. Noise is definitely an issue. We had earplugs and this worked quite well...perhaps the margueritas also helped!? :)
Breakfast at a nearby restaurant was included and was very good!
Mattress and pillows were excellent.

Me and my boyfriend stayed at this hotel because we liked 5th avenue, so we decided to look at others hotels and we came across this one and gave it a shot. It is a nice boutique hotel in the heart of 5th, everything is a couple of steps away. The room itself its big enough with very nice ammenities, something that all other hotels will charge a premium for. The free internet and free coffee does make a difference in the morning. For the price you are getting a lot of ammenities. Apart from that you have the best front desk employees, they are extremely helpful and courteous. David and Jose helped us out a lot with everything and anything. I know for a fact that i know i will be staying here again next year.

Room Tip: Stay on the third floor as you will get less noise from the stree, but honestly its not noise its ju...
