You will ,have to go a long way to beat this Hotel and the location.The Maroma beach is stunning with beautiful white sandy beach which is swept by hand daily.There is a marina on site to cater for diving ,snorkling etc but the best is the quality of the hotel, service and the attention to detail to make your holiday one to remember.This hotel is a couples paradise with low keyed entertainment every night but if you want the nightlife you can go to Play Del Carmen half an hour away.We stayed at the "Seaside Suites" last year also by "Karisma Hotels" last year which is larger but equaly beautiful with more to do but for my money the "Maroma" is far superior for relaxaton and intimacy

We were at the El Dorado Maroma Jan. 5-12 for our wedding which took place on Thursday January 10. Upon arriving at the hotel we were greeted by friendly staff, offered a drink and the check in policy was fast and easy. We were amazed by the grounds they are absolutely stunning. This is a smaller boutique style resort, care is put into every aspect of the buildings, rooms, grounds etc. I didn’t think it could get more beautiful until we walked out onto the beach, white sand, crystal clear blue water, plenty of chairs (you definitely don’t need to get up early and set towels out, there were always plenty of chairs available). The pool was also really great, plenty of areas to sit and hang out, a swim up bar, etc. Just amazing…we stayed in a swim up Jacuzzi Suite. Our room was large, well kept, and the bed was insanely comfortable.

The planning process for the wedding was good. The coordinator that we worked with was offsite, however I did not know this until arriving. One thing to note…while you see a free wedding package know that certain things are free but all decorations, special meals, etc. will come at an additional cost. Ours was about $2200 additional which included all decorations (ceremony site and special dinner), photographer, private dinner (steak and lobster), and cocktail party. It was a little frustrating planning as things started adding up. HOWEVER, upon arrival we found everything to be worth it.

We arrived Saturday and Monday a meeting was set with the onsite coordinators. They assigned us four people who went over everything with us, made some adjustments to better accommodate things we wanted. The evening prior to the wedding we had a “rehearsal dinner” in the wine room. To say the service was outstanding is even an understatement. We had 12 people in our group and 4 servers getting us whatever we needed. The catering manager knew us by name addressing us many times on our stay to ensure we were having nothing but spectacular service. The day of the wedding was so easy, relaxed and carefree. It was a bit windy, our dinner was supposed to be private on the beach and we had to make a decision on what to do. We asked to use a covered common space next to one of the restaurants so we could still be outside but blocked from the wind. Their answer, no problem, whatever you would like…the set up at both the ceremony and for our private cocktail party/dinner was beautiful and truly flawless. Again the service was beyond anything we could have expected.

For the women, I was very nervous to have my hair and make-up done by someone I had never met. I showed the stylist a picture of a hair style I liked and she matched it, exactly. I had no photos for my make-up but what she did was breath taking. I could not have asked for anything more. Our photographer was from Caribe Photography. His work was wonderful, we are very happy with our pictures.

As for the food on the resort, wonderful!! Everything was well prepared, and the presentation was always very good. The morning after our wedding we were served breakfast in our room. I was in shock by the sheer amount of food they brought and each plate was simply delicious. My husband and I are ones that like to try new places and said we would not visit the same place twice. However, El Dorado Maroma changed our minds, we plan to visit again for our one year anniversary. Everything was spectacular!

We have stayed at the El Dorado Royale twice before and really like it so we thought we would try the Maroma. Beautiful small resort on a really nice beach. Wonderful staff from the front desk to the bartenders. We had a small hiccup on arrival as the room we booked wasn't available due to a problem with a wedding party. They upgraded us to a beautiful room and moved us the next day to the ocean view room we booked. Food was great and the service was excellent. Our concierge, Ruth was awesome and she even found my wife's lost bathrobe! We are definitely going back. One word of caution for folks looking at this resort. It's small (compared to others in the area) and its quiet with not a lot of night life, so if you are looking for a big resort with lots to do when the sun goes down, this is not the place to stay. What a great SPA resort ! We very liked our stay at Eldorado Maroma, and we think about to return the next year. It's really a kind of paradise there !
Food: Delicious (especially the breakfasts and supper with the Roasted Lamb!!)
Service: Excellent ! Staff always smiling and attentive to all our needs. Reception always avalaible (and the service is really quick).
Room: always clean !
