“Great service, beautiful boutique hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2012

The location is great. Walking distance from restaurants, bars and The Zocalo This is a boutique hotel with an outstanding service. If not a luxury hotel, Definitely a great place to relax. What makes this place so special is the personalized service. I especially want to thank Federico for his great service.

Small but very welcoming – the staff here were all really nice. Beautiful courtyard with pool and a few loungers, atmospherically lit in the evening and a lovely spot to enjoy a pre- or post-prandial drink – the barman makes superb cocktails.

We were upgraded to an executive room with A/C. The room also had a safe and an iPhone dock. Large bathroom with very good shower, though it didn't drain very quickly. No restaurant but plenty in Merida to choose from. Breakfast was very good, including fantastic chocolate muffins.

It's a little bit of a walk into the centre of Merida.

Beautifull small hotel close to the historic center. Do not expect nothing extraordinaire from the staff or the breakfast (only meal served in the hotel), which are not bad. But do enjoy the rooms, the pool and the vibe. If you want a real Mexican experience, as I did, skip the breakfast in the hotel and head to the Café Chocolate (ask the front desk people about this place) and order "huevos motuleños" (mexican style eggs) and a cup of chocolate. There is a typical food restaurant just two blocks from the hotel with a wide variety of food from Merida. I tried a hundred options and was desapointed only by two of them.

This is a lovely small hotel. You get excellent service from the staff. It is just a few blocks from the main city square of Merida but within the hotel property it is very quiet. Excellent breakfasts. The wireless is a little slow, but it wasn't a problem. Our room was on the ground floor with the double doors opening to the pool. (Room 1) Perfect! I don't think this would be the best place for children....it's more like a spa!

Room Tip: Room 3 ? is above the pool but you have a nice balcony. There is also a "VIP" section nex...

The hotel has a good location (walking distance to downtown and Paseo Montejo), nice environment and quite good service. The only problem is room size: with a room of 4m x 3.5m plus bathroom (only 1m - 1.5m from bed to wall) this one is probably the smallest room I've ever had in Mexico. I think you can get a bit more out of US$115 per night in Merida.

Upon arrival, we went from the busy streets of Merida into an atmosphere of absolute tranquility--all within five steps. For no particular reason explained to us, we were "upgraded" to a VIP room which was on the second floor and overlooked the pool and courtyard. Our room was absolute heaven with a large king-size comfortable bed, lovely terrace for sitting out and watching all the birds nesting in nearby trees, a HUGE bathroom and the largest walk-in closet I've ever had. The layout was perfect.
The hotel is actually divided into two sections--both very similar in design. But, by creating two parts to the hotel, the architectural design underscored the sense of privacy we experienced. We fell in love with the Moroccan theme which beautifully permeates throughout. One member of the family that owns the hotel is an artist and his abstract paintings are hung throughout the property.
The hotel staff was first rate--extremely helpful, gracious and polite without being over bearing.
Staying at Hotel Hacienda Merida was one of the best places we have ever stayed--Period!

Room Tip: Request room on second floor overlooking the pool and courtyard. Well worth the extra money.

We've stayed here end of April.
Instead of staying in one of the big Hotels our decision was to try a Hacienda.
This Hacienda is in the middle of the city 1.5km walk away from the main plaza. Clean, quite and unique. Service was excellent. Rooms are big enough, colonial style of decoration. All what you can expect from a hotel. Highly recommendable.
