Our goal was to get away from Kansas City weather for two weeks and visit a city with the fewest tourists, and where we could experience a true corner of Mexico. Casa Santiago was the perfect place to stay. Vince treated us like family, was a huge help in advising us, booking our trips, and knowing where to find the best Merida eats. He even arranged for us to join him in a couple of cooking classes at the Casa Internacional University. Casa Santiago is a short walk from the main square and the free nightly entertainment. The small tour buses picked us up at the door, and the public bus station is a few blocks away. We began each day with a hearty breakfast with plenty of American style coffee . Our room, with a very comfortable king size bed, had a private patio with a hammock that was perfect for afternoon siestas. We had a happy hour of wine, beer and snacks to enjoy with the other guests in the large dining/sitting room or by the pool. Staying in a B&B with only 3 rooms gave us a wonderful opportunity to meet and make friends with some very interesting guests from other areas of the globe. We spent the entire two weeks at the Casa Santiago with no regrets. We've been home for less than a week and are already missing Merida, Vince, Felix the pooch, and warm weather. Sandy & John
