I really enjoyed my stay. I usually do not stay in B & B's when I travel, beacuse I don't like feeling like an intruder in someone's home. But at Casa Santiago, you don't have to worry about that since the owners live next door. So here I got the best of both world. Vince and Frank were wonderful to me, which probably wasn't always easy, since I am known to be one tough New Yorker.

My husband and I stayed at Casa Santiago for 6 wonderful nights. Our host, Vincent, made us feel welcome. He offered a lot of great advice and even joined us on one of our side trips. Vincent has such a great personality and genuinely nice person. He made us all feel special. The place is just as the others described; clean, very comfortable, great pool, and lounging areas. One of the best attibutes was the very comfortable beds- heavenly. The location is awesome- easy walking distance to museums, squares, and restaurants. I am a very picky traveler and a complainer when things are not going well, but there is not one thing to complain about. This place was perfect-price, comfort, ambiance and location. Vincent was the perfect host. I was very sad to say good bye.

“A happy home away from home”

Casa Santiago

Mar 3, 2008

We left our home in NYC to spend Christmas and New Years in Merida and found a new home. Our hosts Vincente and Frank could not have been more helpful, welcoming and good humored. We instantly felt at home at Casa Santiago. The pool and garden is a true oasis. The location is ideal; close enough to the main square and in a charming neighborhood of it's own. We loved being near the Parque de Santiago and even attended the Christmas Eve service at the church with our hosts, other guests and friends.

The B&B itself is very comfortable with a spacious lounge area and sunny kitchen. The beds are very comfortable and at night we did not even use the AC, as there was a ceiling fan and a large window to look out see the moon and hear the birds. Some evenings you could hear music from the nearby square.

We really made ourselves at home. Vincente and Frank booked and even come with us on several tours; Living Hacienda, Uxmal and Celestun, all were excellent. They also told us about restaurants, food shopping and even the nearest ATM.

We also looked forward every morning to an ample breakfast of fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, baked goods, etc. We were sad to leave our home away from home, but we'll be back.

“Lovely B&B”

Casa Santiago

Feb 4, 2008

We stayed at Casa Santiago this last Christmas and had a wonderful time. It is beautiful, clean, and well-equipped. We felt safe and looked after, and Vince gave us lots of information of places to go and things to do in Merida and even invited us to go on a tour of a Hacienda with him, another family staying at the B&B, and his good friends. I would recommend him and his comfortable B&B to anyone. It is private, has a lovely pool, and even provides games and books (and filtered water and ice!) as well as a nightly happy hour. The beds were comfortable and there were sweet little dogs following Vince around to comfort me in the absence of my own. I will definately go back!

“Two weeks of total relaxation”

Kansas City

Our goal was to get away from Kansas City weather for two weeks and visit a city with the fewest tourists, and where we could experience a true corner of Mexico. Casa Santiago was the perfect place to stay. Vince treated us like family, was a huge help in advising us, booking our trips, and knowing where to find the best Merida eats. He even arranged for us to join him in a couple of cooking classes at the Casa Internacional University. Casa Santiago is a short walk from the main square and the free nightly entertainment. The small tour buses picked us up at the door, and the public bus station is a few blocks away. We began each day with a hearty breakfast with plenty of American style coffee . Our room, with a very comfortable king size bed, had a private patio with a hammock that was perfect for afternoon siestas. We had a happy hour of wine, beer and snacks to enjoy with the other guests in the large dining/sitting room or by the pool. Staying in a B&B with only 3 rooms gave us a wonderful opportunity to meet and make friends with some very interesting guests from other areas of the globe. We spent the entire two weeks at the Casa Santiago with no regrets. We've been home for less than a week and are already missing Merida, Vince, Felix the pooch, and warm weather. Sandy & John
