Our last night in Merida we stopped here for dinner after a long day crawling through the caves...earlier than the normal dinner crowd but had an early flight the next morning. In summary, the food (appetizers and dinner) was outstanding, but the service was not good, and the atmosphere (we were sitting outside) was impacted by multiple people coming up to our table (and sometimes sitting down uninvited) trying to sell us something.
The steak my wife had was great, the "catch of the day" I ordered was outstanding. But we could not, after repeated attempts, get water for the table, get drinks refilled...and dinner was slow to come.
The outdoor eating was hampered by constant vendors (usually sending their kids) over to the tables to sell goods. Our hotel was less that 50 yards from the square the restaurant was on, and we never experienced this level of interruption except in this restaurant. The waiters, hostess and owner did nothing to prevent this.
Overall, the food was outstanding, but the poor service and constant interruptions made it not worthwhile. And it was by far the most expensive meal we had in Merida.
