“Classy, Comfortable, Friendly and Just right!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

Steve and Jordy are two of the most amazing and sweetest hosts, great human beings, kind and more than capable of making your stay the best it can be. The rooms are clean, classy, comfortable and artfully decorated. The price is very reasonable for the location and style of accommodations INCLUDING the food, which was absolutely amazing. The house is very safe, secure and is very close to la plaza, well within reach of anything you'd like to do in Merida. We highly recommend this to any traveler seeking a great place to stay in Merida - even if you're not planning on Merida, the city is surprisingly cool, historic, artistic, fun, tasty and worth the journey, a great excuse to book at Casa Del Maya!!!

Room Tip: Book in Advance, there are only a few rooms.

Our Boulder guests were great! And we agree, Merida is a fantastic city of the arts, history, architecture, and so much more. We hope we helped make your first Merida trip a good one. And we hope to see you again!

My husband and four family members recently returned from our first trip to Merida. Our stay at Casa Del Maya was incredible. Steve and Jordy were so helpful from arranging transportation to and from Cancun to Merida as well as excursions during our stay. The bed and breakfast is homey, inviting and squeaky clean. The breakfast is delicious, including homemade cinnamon rolls daily, yummy! We walked all over the city with no problem. The pool was inviting and enjoyable in the mid afternoon to relax and unwind, getting ready for our next adventure. Steve and Jordy run a first class operation, can't wait for a return trip.

Room Tip: Stayed in Chaac right beside the pool, loved it!

How nice it is to host families and help them celebrate their special occasions . They were a delight to have at Casa Del Maya. We enjoyed the pool together and talked for hours at a time. One of the best things about Merida is the ability to walk everywhere; you really have the chance to see the city that way. Museums, restaurants, parks, fiestas, dancing, music, and much more just a few minutes walk from Casa Del Maya. Sure hope to see them again!

This pretty new B&B is in a quiet neighborhood but easily walkable to the historic center of Merida. Steve and Jordie were marvelous hosts, with lots of information about shopping and restaurants, and werved fabulous breakfasts. Our only problem was it was too much food! The homemade cinnamon rolls were amazing. The rooms were pretty and comfortable and the little garden and pool were appealing.

We're so glad you enjoyed your stay and our location. We like that we are not only close to the main square, but also close to so many other great Merida attractions, such as Paseo Montejo with its fantastic restaurants, Santa Ana park with its ever-growing shops and wonderful cocina economicas, and the many art galleries just a few blocks from Casa Del Maya. If you didn't get the chance this time, Noche Mexicana, or Mexico Night, is every Saturday night just 4 blocks away! We hope we made you feel at home.

We chose Casa del Maya to begin our winter in Yucatán, and it was so great that we decided to wrap up the season with another three nights in the care of Jordy and Steve. The physical facility is attractive, squeaky clean and well planned, with good quality linens and lots of hot water. Location is safe and convenient to Paseo Montejo, good restaurants and the historical zocalo, way too short a walking distance to offset Jordy's generous, tasty and ever-changing breakfasts. Jordy and Steve are warm and witty hosts who attract a diverse international clientele.

Room Tip: If you're schlepping a lot of luggage you might want to avoid the winding metal staircase to the...

We so enjoyed having you stay at Casa Del Maya...twice! We are happy you liked the breakfast - it's such a big part of staying at a Bed and Breakfast. Afterall, it's half our name! Whenever you are in town, stop in and say hello and you know there are always homemade cinnamon rolls on the kitchen counter. See you soon, we hope.

Casa Del Maya will be a hard act to follow. As the reviews posted have stated hosts, service, rooms, food, location, experiencing Merida... made this trip a wonderful memory. A review of our recent 3/17/13 - 3/23/13 stay would echo the previous 5 star postings. It was pleasant waking up to a cup of fresh coffee every morning without leaving our patio. Having brand new plumbing was awesome! A pleasant surprise to us was the beach in Progreso, which has changed so much since we were there 15 years ago. We caught a bus blocks from the B&B and arrived in Progreso 30 mins. later, ate lunch, swam in the clear water, walked the white sand beach, and returned to Merida for dinner. Just a note; Merida is a city in transition and we had a great time exploring its mix of old and new.

We certainly enjoyed having you both stay at Casa Del Maya. We hope your B&B introduction entices you to try B&B's wherever you travel. We enjoy spending time in Progreso, ourselves. Just hop on a bus ($1.25, such a bargain!) and you are on the beach in 30 minutes. Have lunch, get a massage on the beach, then return to your nice B&B in Merida. Hope to see you again, soon.

This little B&B is relatively new to Merida but already the word is out and Steve and Jordy, The genial hosts, have already built a solid reputation resulting in lots of bookings. Our room looked down on the pool which was big enough for a cooling off after a long day rather than a place for exercise so noise was not an issue. Breakfasts were creative and served by both hosts who were anxious to help guests with planning their days or buying a bottle of wine or?
Our room rate of US$85 seemed reasonable and we would certainly recommend this little haven to our friends.
The location was a bit of a hike (20minutes?) from the main square and all the action but but well worth making the effort. We loved it!

This is a great B&B in a safe neighborhood a short walk from the main square. I highly recommend staying here. The basic layout is a main house in the front where the kitchen and sitting area are located, with rooms located in the rear of the property on two levels, situated near a small pool. The high walls on either side make it a cozy and quiet space.

Breakfast is outside - for our stay it started with fresh fruit and was followed by some amazing combination of the familiar with new local flavors prepared by Jordy. Fantastic!

The place has a laid-back feel, and Jordy and Steve couldn't be more wonderful and accommodating. They have great recommendations for sight-seeing, restaurants, and things to do (check out the House Tours at the English Library - it's fascinating). Ask them about concerts or fun things to do in town - they're well-informed.

Details - all rooms have A/C, great shower, bottled water, and super comfortable beds.

Overall, perfect place to stay. Jordy and Steve go out of their way to make your stay wonderful (thanks guys for the birthday cake!), and it's in a fantastic location. Highly recommend making Merida part of a trip to Yucatan, and staying at Casa del Maya.

Room Tip: All rooms seem great. Perhaps more privacy on 2nd floor.
